“She’s just been sitting there all day, sighing.” muttered Maya.
“Haven’t you figured out why?” I queried, “I’ll just go in and ask her!”
Maya shook her head. “No, don’t bother. She’s just not speaking about it.”
I smiled a sly smile.
Maya knew that face instantly, she’d grown to recognise it after the Turner Grey incident. “Nick, don’t you dare!”
I frowned. “What?”

Okay. If you’re wondering what the heck is going on, I’ll give you a bit of info. I went to court today to discuss a retrial (don’t worry, it wasn’t me that got the defendant a GUILTY) and came home to find Pearls gazing into the sky:
“Hey Pearls, you okay?”
“………………………….”
“Pearls?”
“Pearls?”
So I asked Maya about her and, well, there you have it.
Maya was about to lecture me on how I shouldn’t do what I was about to do……but I’d already gone in to the room Pearls was in.

“Hmm, did you say something Mr. Nick?” Pearls was REALLY out there today. “Ah!” Pearls noticed the Magatama and figured out what was going on.
I started the long process of psyche-lock breaking.
“Whoa.” Just before I began I noticed the middle psyche-lock……….it was black. Right in the centre of her heart was a secret so full of dark and despair that it caused her pain. I HAD to break it!
“Alright Pearls, somethings upsetting you incredibly, and I must get to the bottom of it. Now, there’s only one thing that could make you as sad as this and that is…..”

“Your mother, Morgan Fey.”
One of the locks shattered.
“Morgan has been incarcerated for nearly 2 years now, and as demonstrated with Maya and Misty, losing one’s mother is painful indeed. But, it must be more than…oh right…..”

“Erm…….I have absolutely no idea what that is” Pearl lied.
“You know what this is, because you’ve read it. This is a letter from the state prison:

Subject: Morgan Fey
I am writing to inform you about the status of prisoner Morgan Fey due to the fact she was a key part in the murder of Miss Deauxnim recently. She has been given the death penalty as in the record she is stated as a three-time murder accomplice. We felt we should notify you first, she is to be executed on May 20 2026. In the mean time she will be kept in Cell 13.

“Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!” Pearl sobbed. Another psyche-lock shattered. “B-But you can’t prove I read that letter.”
“Oh really…..

“What’s that?” Pearls wondered aloud.
“Fingerprint powder.” I replied.
“………….Noooo!” Pearls knew what I was thinking. Yet another psyche-lock shattered.
“Maybe the last lock is because of the date, today is May 20-in 7 years Morgan will be executed.” I revealed. The fourth psyche-lock shattered.
“I’m sorry I have to talk about this Pearls. And now for the black lock.” I pointed the magatama to the final lock. That was my mistake. The lock bombarded the magatama with lightning, and the psyche-lock and the chains faded away. My surroundings returned to normal but what on earth was going on?!? I had to talk with Maya.

“So, let me get this straight. You saw a black and yellow psyche-lock, it drained the magatama’s energy and now it won’t work?!” Maya asked.
“Yup.” I still had no clue of what to do.
“Follow me!” Maya replied. She went to a bookshelf with 10 years of Oh Cult! Magazine back issues and took out issue #56, on the cover read “Magatamas: The Ups, Downs and Everything In-Between.”.
“Black locks, black locks, black locks…” Maya whispered, “oh, here we go: Dark Psyche-Locks! These locks are made by a secret (or secrets) so dark and dangerous that the longer it exists the more it changes the holder. These locks are ultra rare cases and legend says that only one set of locks was broken EVER. The locks of Relki Fey.”
“Who’s that?” I shouted.
“One of Ami Fey’s twin great-granddaughters. Let me continue: The story says that Relki Fey murdered her twin one night to become the Master of the Kurain Channelling Technique, no-one knowing her dark deed. One year later, Serai Fey was born. By now Relki was 20 years old and when she became 38 years old her little sister got her own magatama. Now, when she tried to show it to Relki, she found six Dark Psyche-Locks and had to present her to the Greater Magatama to see her secret.”
“Hmmm…..” I wondered, “so I need to present Pearls to this greater magatama?”
Maya read my mind. “ It’s in Fey Manor, ooh I know, since it’s MASSIVE I’ll take the magatama home with me tonight and then tomorrow I’ll bring it back super-charged!!!”

Phoenix Wright’s Diary: 20 May 2019.

Maya and Pearls left tonight. I and Maya are so worried about what secret Pearls is hiding. Hopefully, I’ll find out tomorrow. Now I’m tired, I had to see those two off at the station at 9 PM! Well I’ll see what’s causing that lock and destroy it.

“Pearly couldn’t sleep last night so she’s asleep now.” Explained Maya sadly as we crept over the pained girl.
“NOW!”

The dark-lock appeared, and forced myself and Maya into Pearls’ memories:
We were in the Detention Center viewing all from Pearls’ eyes. And in front of us was Morgan, we could see the calendar reading May 19.
“I am planning something, my child. I am going to leave a message in my cell to install you as Master. But whatever you do, do NOT tell Mr. Wright or Ma- I mean, Mystic Maya.” Morgan revealed.
“But..” Pearls tried to ask why.
“DO NOT DISSAPOINT ME MY CHILD!!!” Morgan bellowed. A few visitors looked at her. We were pulled back to reality.
“Oh my God!” I murmured. The Dark-lock broke as we woke up Pearls and told her what we knew.
“Yes!” I shouted. I called the police who looked for such a note………but failed.
SIX YEARS AND ELEVEN MONTHS LATER……………………..
