I haven't been hit with much inspiration to write anything though. I actually wrote the middle 4 chapters of a fanfic, but I can't think of a beginning or end. A problem. It's about the scenario where Phoenix and Maya don't form any romantic attachment until after game 4 (I usually prefer them getting together a few years after 3-5 and having a long-distance relationship, but I've got to admit this alternative is plausible), no doubt influenced by the various other fanfics I've read lately.

I totally agree, it seems unnatural after playing the first three and they're so close... just to have her eff off all of a sudden.. I'm pretty sure Pearly wouldn't allow such a long gap in time for them to be apart as well!

Yes, that was mine. Here it is. I'm glad you liked it.
I wrote a kind-of-sequel where Apollo is even more confused too :)
Be sure that in my unfinished fanfic they don't 'never see each other again' for 7 years, it's just that they're unwilling to enter a romantic relationship rather than just a friendship due to, um, pressing concerns. I'm just worried it's a bit too angst. Be assured there'll be a nice sappy ending where they get together romantically, if I can ever think of it.

The most amusing fact about this one is that it's chock full of strange, uncommon kanji that most people DON'T use, yet for words that normally SHOULD use common kanji, he uses regular hiragana/katakana. XD

ajm-cat's doujin was just finished a few minutes ago. =p Also, turns out my original title translation wasn't accurate -- the correct translation would be "A wise man's mistake". It's a very touching tale between Nick and Maya, where Nick shines in his philosophical remarks and metaphors all throughout the story. Highly recommended, even if the art style throws me off a bit. =)

There's definitely something between them at the end of T&T, and I can safely say it's not just a really deep friendship. The reason they haven't admitted their feelings for seven years? What I think is that Phoenix wants to tell her, but with his current lifestyle, he feels that it wouldn't be adequate for either of them. I mean, law is basically what brought Maya and Phoenix together. And on Maya's end, she's the Kurain Master, after all, and she doesn't think that Phoenix would be happy at Kurain all the time(not that he really can anyway, because it's all women there).
Of course, some part of me is hoping that in GS5, Phoenix gets his badge back, Maya gives Pearly the title of Kurain Master(who happily accepts because she's never been pressured about it), Maya moves in with Phoenix, becomes Trucy's "mommy".

Kairaita-chan, you read my mind. This is precisely why I think Nick didn't make any advances on her after the disbarment incident -- he'd be overwhelmed by fits of inferiority complex, and feel his current situation wasn't up to scratch to make Maya truly happy. Of course, we all know she disagrees, but that's beside the point. =pCoincidentally, I managed to work that inside a short piece I wrote, which you might find enjoyable. Be aware that it has a small, eye-blarin' easter egg hidden, which in turn furthers the story of the piece. =) [/shameless plug]

i love that pairing and can't understand why maya is not in GS4 oO
but, did you notice she couldn't be all the 7 years away from Nick? (if it's not a mistake by capcom..)
the noodleman (eldoon was his name, i think..) said, that nick was already a regular guest when his assistant (maya) was there, too. and later, the noodleman said he opened the noodlestand (right word? just know the german word xD) 2 years ago.
That means Maya was there until 2 years ago..
I'm German, sorry if i'd make any grammar mistakes or something like that :/

Poor Ema - but the deal with her was from 1-5, game 4 was laying heavily on the cruelly ironic twist on 1-5. (aka the forged evidence issue resurfacing and both Phoenix and Ema getting their lives screwed over in game 4 ;_;) I'd assume that the writers would have the sense not to do anything drastically awful if Maya got to return.
Though hey... Phoenix is a regular at the noodle stand (or was) in the GS4 'present', though I'm pretty sure back during the lawyer days he usually went out for 'burgers' aka ramen noodles because Maya wanted them, and I distinctly remember him saying once he didn't particularly like 'burgers' he was more of a 'grilled chicken sandwich kind of guy'. So it's either a) the affection for Maya's food of choice grew on him b) he goes to the noodle stand to reminisce about when Maya was with him c) Maya indeed does turn up there with him.
c is probably wishful thinking, but b seems veeery likely...
