Independent - Webbie feat. Lil' Boosie & Lil' Phat

I don't really listen to rap/hip-hop music that much as I used to but this song is freaking epic to listen to.

Dogs - Pink Floyd

Definitively among my Top 10 favorite songs ever.

Spoiler: Lyrics
You got to be crazy, you gotta have a real need
You gotta sleep on your toes and when you're on the street
You got to be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight
You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking

And after a while, you can work on points for style
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to
So that when they turn their backs on you
You'll get the chance to put the knife in

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder
You know, it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder
As you get older
Yeah, and in the end you'll pack up and fly down south
Hide your head in the sand
Just another sad old man
All alone and dying of cancer

And when you lose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sewn
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around
So have a good drown, as you go down all alone
Dragged down by the stone

Gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze

Deaf, dumb and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable, and no one has a real friend
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
Everything's done under the sun
But you believe at heart everyone's a killer

Who was born in a house full of pain
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel
Who was fitted with collar and chain
Who was given a pat on the back
Who was breaking away from the pack
Who was only a stranger at home
Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by the stone
Who was dragged down by the stone

Shattered by O.A.R.
Heard them on the radio the other day and almost didn't recognize them. I kind of pushed them away after Risen, and I actually confused them for The Fray for a minute. I like their new sound, and the lyrics are very soothing yet melancholy at the same time. Still, a lovely song. Maybe I'll give O.A.R. another chance.

Spoiler: Lyrics
In a way, I need a change
From this burnout scene
Another time, another town
Another everything
But it's always back to you

Stumble out, in the night
From the pouring rain
Made the block, sat and thought
There's more I need
It's always back to you

But I'm good without ya
Yeah, I'm good without you
Yeah, yeah, yeah

How many times can I break till I shatter?
Over the line can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
Give me a break let me make my own pattern
All that it takes is some time but I'm shattered
I always turn the car around

I had no idea that the night
Would take so damn long
Took it out, on the street
While the rain still falls
Push me back to you

But I'm good without ya
Yeah, I'm good without you
Yeah, yeah, yeah

How many times can I break till I shatter?
Over the line can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
Give me a break let me make my own pattern
All that it takes is some time but I'm shattered
I always turn the car around

Give it up, give it up, baby
Give it up, give it up, now
Now

How many times can I break till I shatter?
Over the line can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
All that I feel is the realness I'm faking
Taking my time but it's time that I'm wasting
Always turn the car around

How many times can I break till I shatter?
Over the line can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around

Don't wanna turn that car around
I gotta turn this thing around

Why Go - Pearl Jam

Months of continuous listens have made me realize that this song is criminally underrated. And I stand by my belief that Eddie Vedder has one of the best voices in rock and roll. I like how he can take an irregular stanza and make it sound coherent.

Canned Heat (which I think is hideously over-rated btw) is on Dynamite, which is probably my third favourite album.

Bees by Animal Collective; but more like Feels as a whole.

this whole album is haunting and beautiful in a scary way. the vocals are sung liltingly and are all over the place; the instrumentation feels like it is vaguely far away and makes me think of an outdoor scene, such as the mountains. what really makes this record brilliant is the emptiness that feels like the songs have; they're definitely about something, and the components of a song are all there, but it still feels empty. not as though it's lacking something - just that there is something missing as you listen to it. it feels otherwordly, i think, is what i am trying to say. they play with vocals in a really interesting way, and that gives it its strange quality.

i suppose it'd be better just to listen to it.

The Truth About Heaven by Armor For Sleep

Definitely one of my, if not my favorite band. What To Do When You Are Dead hits so close to home that I actually listened to the entire album, which is a rarity for me. I like this song in particular because it's different from the other songs on the album in terms of melody and tempo, and the lyrics are a little more recognizable.

Spoiler: Lyrics
Walked past my grave in the dark tonight,
Saw the stone and the note you left for me,
To answer your question I just had to leave,
I just had to leave

But that’s not why I’m here,
I came out here to tell you it rains in heaven all day long,
I want to find you so bad, to let you know I’m miserable up here without you

Found my way back in the dark tonight,
Couldn't wake up, not right next to you,
I traded forever to just hear you say the sound of my name

But that’s not why I’m here,
I came out here to tell you
It rains in heaven all day long;
I want to find you so bad,
To let you know I’m miserable up here without you

Don’t believe that its better when you leave everything behind,
Don’t believe that the weather is perfect the day that you die,
Don’t believe that the weather is perfect the day that you die

I came out here to tell you it rains in heaven all day long,
I want to find you so bad, to let you know I’m miserable up here without you,

Don’t believe that the weather is perfect the day that you die

I could never get into Juno Reactor. Maybe it's because their songs have been featured prominently in many movie soundtracks, but I've always felt their sounds were very kitschy.

Пётр Чайковский (Pyotr Tchaikovsky)

This work is based on a novel in verse by Aleksandr Pushkin. Oddly enough, the author suffered the same fate as one of the characters--he was shot dead in a duel (though the author didn't die immediately, unlike Lensky).

Win! By the way, I don't believe this song has ever been memed. Should that be considered an accomplishment and a blessing, or look at it as a threatening deviation from the norm?

Angry Chair - Alice In Chains

I've been thinking about buying Dirt but I'm afraid that the bludgeoning darkness permeating every track will be the final nail in my coffin. If this song alone is enough to send chills down my spine, I shudder to think what an entire album could do.

Dead Living - Sugarcult

Spoiler: Lyrics to this song because it is freaking awesome
Dead Living by Sugarcult

I can't take it
It's just a paycheck
Making arrangements to burn it to the ground
I can't fake it
When nothing's sacred
Making arrangements to burn it to the ground

And beauty lies in the ignorant
With the sound of selling out to the innocent

I can't save us from the outside
I can't take it, what I'm told
You can't stop it
It just started
Dead living on the radio
I can't save us from the outside

I can't take it
I won't cooperate
Making arrangements to bury it in the ground
I can't fake it
This station
Is going under, so I'll bury this in the ground

And beauty lies in the ignorant
With the sound of selling out to the innocent

I can't save us from the outside
I can't take it, what I'm told
You can't stop it
It just started
Dead living on the radio
I can't save us from the outside

I can't take it
It's just a paycheck
Making arrangements
I can't take it
It's just a paycheck
Making arrangements

I can't take one more day all for I am done
I can't bend, this must end, counting back from 3, 2, 1

I can't save us from the outside
I can't take it, what I'm told
You can't stop it
It just started
Dead living on the radio
I can't save us from the outside

I can't save us
You can't take us
No one gets out alive
I can't save us
You can't take us
No one gets out

This song is just awesome to listen to. For some reason, this song reminds me of :phoenix:

Moonlight by Kamelot

I just started listening to them the other day, and i LOVE it! :pearly:

\m/ If you want to explore their music, I recommend The Black Halo above anything else. It was my first and only Kamelot album and is just really good.

Learn To Fly - Foo Fighters

This song is perfect the current mood I'm in: lax, blue, and just overall unpleasant.

the whistling song by the pinker tones.

I feel embarrassed for liking it but at the same time it's so damn catchy. sounds reggae-ish in places too.
