I was kind of disappointed in the way Matt was portrayed...psycho, selfish, basically a total bitch. Yeah, maybe he was deep down inside, but the whole "But I don't believe in anyone..." thing just kinda got me curious as to WHY he doesn't believe in anyone. WHY he only looks after himself. Could it have something to do with Celeste? Juan? His childhood? The lack of depth in his character...pfft. Then again, most villains are portrayed that way, especially one-case type characters. But still, as one of my all-time favorite characters, I wish Matt's feelings would have been a little more developed. Or at least, not "OMG IM TTLY LIEK A PSYCHO!!1!" crap we got.

Just an opinion... Maybe its just there for Maya to write her note on and to prove a connection of Matt and Celeste (obviously but I like pointing it out anyways).

I agree. His 'I don't trust anybody but myself' was meant to make him seem dangerous, but it's rather sad when you think about it.

Would it really bother Juan that she had had other boyfriends before him? I don't think that "I had her first!" is a good enough reason for him to call off their wedding. I wasn't really clear on if Juan was a terrible guy too or just deceived by Matt.

Mind you, I'm highly biased, given that 2-4 was my favourite case and Matt's one of my favourite characters. I think the potential to create your own interpretation of that case's history and relationships is what makes it intriguing.

It could be a possibility that his parents had something to do with him going psychotic. Or it could be what you just said "But it can't be because of Celeste to get him to go psychotic. There was no responsibility put on Celete for Matt's actions. The case never mentions on why Matt gave up on people and not trusting no one but himself. Celete has nothing to do with his actions. Not at all. Matt is just evil plain and simple. The game designers didn't develop Matt's feelings a little more as clearly there are no sympathy for lawbreakers, especially sereal killers, like Matt.

That could be a possiblity. But this doesn't explain on why that he would admit his actions if you pick "Not Guilty" in the ending. The reason why that he would admit his actions because he has nowhere else to go, once that De Killer knows that Matt was just using him, and ratted him by showing the videotape in court. Knowing that he would rather be in jail for life than to be killed. This is showing that he actually didn't want to be caught.
