That guy needs a reality check....or to be sectioned in some mental institution.

Even I would prefer a flesh-and-blood girlfriend over someone who is a collection of pixels. :that-b-word:

Well, that is semi-awesome. I doubt anyone of his friends or family will ever call him anything but his given name anyway.

Would be interesting to have his passport, though.

Does this marriage include gay marrages? :agent-Smith:

Didn't it say that gay marriage is illegal in Japan?
why would fictional gay marriage be allowed

Quote:
...So would that mean fanfics/fanart about them being paired with someone else would be adultery?

Depends on who you're messing with I'd suppose.
The better question is, how many fanfic authors would care?

Japan you cease to amaze me... :yuusaku:

Have people given up so much on real relationship they want to marry a fictional character?

...

I mean of course you have to work at it it shows you want to have one, but eh....people are just not right in the head. Yeah sure, everyone has their favorite character they like and or can relate to, but other than that that's all. I mean to go to an extreme to actually want to marry is insane as it just plain disturbing.

...

Seriously, killing your parents because you're taking up too much space in the house? Good god there's no telling how many comics she has. I mean pfft, I'g given up stuff far more expensive than a comic book I wouldn't go to the extreme to kill my parents cause they asked >_>;

Haha, makes you seriously consider Japan isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Loving she who does not exist
My confused heart cannot resist.
Why must life be so cruel?
Are these the tears of a fool?
Were you real or just a thought?
From this my love has fought.
Nothings left, I gave it all,
So bring the end of LΩvemegas call.
No one but you, nothing more to hold on,
Without you, I would fade till I'm gone.
Yesterday was, the only life that I had,
No one but me, now I am driven mad.

Just let it pass so the otaku thingies have a title to brag about.

It's not like others are going to get in on this though. Or else we would see a rather huge population drop in Japan in the next few years. :keiko:

If this marrying fictional characters law gets passed, I want the "Make a Perfect Girlfriend for Yourself" from one the episodes of Batman Beyond to go with. That way, I can have my fictional in more ways then one. :sal:

Also, this would be a nice way to flip off copyright infringement laws. I mean, just picture this:

Generic Fanboy: I got to marry (Insert popular female here) but I gave her bigger breasts. I'll be getting to hit that everyday. And you can't do anything about because it's my right granted by the law! Take that, (that character)'s creator!

Also, what are you gonna do after you've married a fictional character? Buy hundreds of dolls of that character? xD

And also, are hundreds of people gonna marry the same character? xD

Hey, hey. It'd probably branch into dolls after that. The'll be saying "hey if's done with 2d and 3d animations why not dolls?" Think of the anarchy it would bring with Barbie and Bratz fans :gant: Boy would the Star Trek conventions be interesting. :edgy:

Yeah, She got jealious and dangerously possessive after she caught her "boyfriend" talking to another women. Thank goodness that doesn't happen in real life.

In every way, may it be a fictional character, a young child or whatever, I think marrying someone who can neither decline nor accept or at least think about a marriage proposal seems very wrong to me.

On a somewhat related note, according to the papers some woman is divorcing her real life husband after he (well his avatar) was caught having an affair with someone else in Second Life.

Honestly some people... :pft:
