Apparently you've never lived on a a college campus? XP

But seriously, up until Obama's speech at midnight, it was ABSOLUTELY INSANE outside. People were so excited and celebrating it was crazy. Fireworks, firecrackers, shouting, streaking, the works.

Myself I hung around inside with my friends and celebrated in a slightly milder manner. :keiko:

I wouldn't worry about those local Republicans getting very violent. We know how to swallow our bile and watch with dark amusement--at least in Minnesota we do. Personally, I'm still waiting for those young Democrats in Apple Valley to apologize for the way they swung across the aisle with baseball bats a few years ago. But enough about that.

First black president, eh? Interesting. Didn't someone give Bill Clinton that title way back when? Are we going to see some revocation amidst the celebration? :karma: I see Jesse Jackson was there smiling as Barack gave his acceptance speech. We'll see how long that smile stays on his face. A little while ago, he accused Barack of "talkin' down to black people" under his breath, expressing a wish to "cut his nuts off".

John McCain lost. Oh well. He wasn't exactly my first choice anyway. Palin in '12! Meanwhile, I will say that Obama gave a pretty good speech--probably the best I could hope for from one of his loyalties short of a concession. I just hope I can trust him to look out for Israel. *crosses fingers*

I just realized my vote was worth about $80.

This is the first time I've used my voting power. A lot of moving around makes it easy for me to be suckered into paying the poll tax for the past 4 years. :\

To be frank, I'd never thought anything like this could happen. Ever. To quote 2pac: "We ain't ready to see a black president". If he was alive today, I'm sure he would be proud.

If I lived in the states, I'd vote for Obama. Today, history has been written.

Seems like the miracle DID happen! :phoenix: ("pun" intended)

I don't agree with a few of Obama's policies (I have a feeling Islamists are going to get crazier than ever before), but he was always going to be a better alternative to four additional years of Republican terror. Plus, first black president!

This is such a good time for America and you should bask in your happiness. :)

Didn't vote due to facotrs of being too young, not beign American and living across the pond.
However, the way the world's going, I'm glad it's him and not McCain, who would've probably continued like George W. Bush on a smaller scale. Also, if McCain won, we'd still be subjected to images of Palin's riches... *shudder*
Now we get the novelty of seeing how ayoung and black president gets on in this mess, and/or how long it takes for some people to get more racist about him.

Funniest thing about the whole puppy thing, is that my parents were talking about how lonely it would be for his kids in the white house, and I was just joking around
"No, it would be like a TV show, they'd have all sorts of adventures with those wacky secret service agents!" And then we heard about the puppy, which convinced my and my sister that the puppy would be the animal sidekick.

It might have just been me, but it seems like the rest of the world (if they cared) wanted Obama, which is good, because we really need to work on redeeming ourselves as a country on the world stage.

The other thing the're saying is it didn't matter who won because both Obama and Mc Cain are part of the Illuminati. And the outcome will be the same. :nick:

On a related note: Youtube is mass deleting government critic's from their site.

The UN at large certainly wanted Obama, but that's no surprise. It would've welcomed Gus Hall most cordially when he was still alive and running, I'm sure. They never were big on national soverignty, at least not for the US. They'll like Obama, but will they respect him? I'm thinking probably not. I see a repeat of the Carter years coming up: high gas prices, stagflation, woefully weak military, and the Arab world seizing the opportunity to take a bellicose posture without fear of retribution of any kind. The old Iranian hostage crisis may very well happen again. And with a little luck, this'll only last four years--just like last time. Here's hoping that Palin will run for President in '12. Until then, I'm "Biden" my time.

Peh. I just learned that Proposition 8 passed in California. I'll say right now that I voted against it. Marriage is a bond of love that all couples should have a right to. Religion and homophobia do not deserve a say in how this country is governed.

Yep, the man has a point. Religion and homophobia shouldn't dictate it all all, but neither should a Judge. Let the people vote on it.
