I know that Nintendo has there own branded SD card but I also noticed that they charge an extra $10 to 15 dollars for it. However, I'm sure a Kingston or Sandisk SD card will work just as well being big name companies they are. Of course, I'm gonna get the 2GB verison. But, Which brand should I get? Kingston?SanDisk? Any one with experience can help me out, please?

I bought a 256 Meg SD card, works fine. The SD card uses an Industrial Standard. They should all work fine. The only exception, is that the Wii can't handle above a particular size SD card. The size illudes me at the moment. But it's something to keep in mind.

I know the largest SD card that the Wii can hand is 2GB, normally.

I am actually getting one myself. It'd be interesting to know a little in beforehand what I should buy. So Nintendo makes their own kind of SD cards (for some extra bucks)? And the biggest one available (well, what the Wii can handle, at least) is 2gb?

Yes, Nintendo does make their own brand SD and the largest is 2GB. They look like a standard SD card but in a little gray and "Wii" in red print. Actually, I've only seen in the 2GB size. But, it seems they sell for like double the price of a normal SD card.

I actually got my 1GB Wii SD card for a lot cheaper than what your saying. At the store, the other brand that was selling the 2GB was over twice the price of the one 1GB Wii card. But that was just once so I dunno.

The Wii only accepts SD cards that are 2GB or smaller. Bigger cards do work, but only in a particular way - for example, if you have a 3GB card, simply filling up 1GB of data on the card makes the Wii think it's a 2GB card, and it will therefore work. Once you have enough Wii data on the card, you can simply erase the filler data, and will therefore have a working 3GB card full of nothing but Wii data. It works for bigger-sized cards, as well, but I couldn't imagine having so many VC/WiiWare/pictures to fill up the whole card just for it to work that way.

I use a 2GB Sandisk, works fine for me. Apparently transfer times to and from SD were improved with the latest (3.4) firmware, aside from trying to bodge the Homebrew Channel again.

I actually ended up ordering a 2GB Sandisk which should arrive in about a week. I'm going be using it for City Folk and Brawl Photos. I only have 4 VC games, so I'm not too worried about space for VC stuff yet.

I need it... I have 6 WiiWare games with a couple more I'd like to buy but no space left on the Wii! I hardly buy VC titles as I have a lot of them already in cartridge form for the real systems.

Yeah, I've transferred WiiWare and VC titles to the SD card to free up space on the Wii's internal storage. One promise coming next year is being able to actually run the games from the SD card instead of having to copy them back first...

Well, it still sounds better to transfer them a bit rather than being limited to the Wiis memory.

Well, the promise Nintendo made was that you could download the games from the Shop Channel directly into the SD Card. While it is possible to hack the console to run the games directly from the SD Card, Nintendo doesn't seem keen on actually doing it themselves, as they still expect you to transfer the games to and from the card to play them on the console.

Once you download a game the Shop Channel sets it as downloaded and you can get it as many times as you want for free.

How cool. Didn't know that. Still, it might feel better to just transfer.

Yea, I bought one for downloadable songs in Guitar Hero XD I dunno about getting any old school games. I've either played them, or am not interested in the ones they have.
