There's a little blurb about Gyakuten Kenji in this month's Game Informer. ^_^ They call it "Ace Attorney: Perfect Prosecutor" for some reason. O_o Anyway, here's what the article says:

After introducing the new hotshot defense attorney Apollo Justice earlier this year, one might expect the next installment of the Ace Attorney franchise to feature the rising star. Instead, fan-favorite prosecutor Miles Edgeworth is taking up the leading role. With gameplay more akin to classic point-and-click adventure games (rather than the first-person exploration of the series' previous games), you'll explore crime scenes, question witnesses and engage in courtroom shenanigans. Familiar faces like Franziska von Karma and Dick Gumshoe play roles in the story, and others are likely to make cameo appearances. Perfect Prosecutor hasn't been confirmed for a U.S. release, but given Capcom's history and the series' success, you might want to warm up your pointing finger.

..they might be incorrect on the "court room shenanigans" though, since GK isn't supposed to have court scenes. :oops:

Edit: I scanned the "article." Sorry for crappy cropping and such. ^_^;;

I wonder how many letters(emails) they're going to get telling them that there are no court scenes. I know there was something about the game in one of the earlier issues too. However, I think it was just that one of the writers wished the game would be released here.

Sure, my subscription to GI gets canceled the month BEFORE this comes out.

Still, I'm not losing any sleep over it, GI is a shoddy magazine anyways.

We have the GameStop card that gets you the subscription, but we haven't gotten ours in a while. My husband needs to call them. You'd think working for the company that produces the magazine would at least get you your isses that you righfully paid for.

It's the not first time they got something wrong either, through lack of research, not because a release date was changed. When the annouced the Beowulf game, they mistakingly said that is was a middle english epic (or something like that). First of all, Middle English should be capitalized, and most imoportantly Beowulf is Old English. I don't know how you could mix those two up? Considering that when most people mess up the time periods for English literature, they usually say that Shakespeare is Old English (its Early Modern to be precise).

Anway, enough of my BA in English justification.

I'm debating writing in about this. I know they have an email address where you can send letters. Maybe it'll actually get published, but I doubt it. Maybe if enough letters were sent, Capcom of America would get a clue that Ace Attorney fans want this game over here. Either that, or maybe set up a new thread on the Capcom Unity boards stating that.

Heres a draft of what I might send.
Spoiler: Draft
Dear Game Informer,

I am really glad that your magazine is taking an interest in the new Gyakuten Kenji (Perfect Prosecutor) game. When you mention "courtroom shenanigans," do you mean that you get to interrogate witnesses or that you will actually prosecute criminals in trials? Because if you meant anything that has to do with going to court, then I believe you have been misinformed. According to many Japanese and American sources, there are no court scenes in the game. In fact, the teaser title was NEW Gyakuten (Turnabout) NOT Saiban (Court). If you meant something else by "courtroom shenanigans" then please disregard this letter.

Thank you,
<Insert Name Here>

I think it sounds too nice, but I don't like coming off as a total jerk in letters.

Why don't Lunaria and Ceres both send a letter to GI about GK!

Lunaria would send the nice version and Ceres would send the "cocky bastard" version. XD

Don't be so sure.

I think I recall in one issue they showed a letter from someone who pointed out a simple error. Whether if it was in spelling or research... I don't remember. But They replied with a thank-you in the magazine and encouraged readers to send in letters if they find anything wrong.

December's Nintendo Power had a little blurb about it too. They wisely referred to the game as Gyakuten Kenji.

Well...it sometimes is normal for some magazines to get their information about a game that's coming out in Japan wrong..I myself read both Mexican and American game magazines, and some of them, have some incorrect info about a certain game or they just misinterpreted the information wrong.

Guess they mistranslated the part about the no court scenes or something...

I randomly opened a page when I received my Game Informer, and the first thing I saw was Perfect Prosecutor, and Gumshoes face.
It made me think about what Croik said about the Official Art thing...

According to my husband, who works for GameStop, Gyakuten Kenji has been generating a lot of talk at the company. Aparrently, either GamesStop or Game Informer (which is produced by GameStop) has been getting a lot of emails about the game lately. The company expects to get a lot of pre-orders for it once an official release date is announced.

I'm sure some of the people that work there will still have no clue what your talking about. Only managers, assistant managers, and third keys have access to the emails, so unless those people share the information with the regular sales associates, then they would have no way to know.

The best way to ensure that GameStop has a game in stock on release date it to reserve it. This is especially true for games that are not as popular as something like Halo, Gears of War, etc. Game companies send over enough to fill the reserve lists and then maybe one or two more depending on the title. Popular titles will get more games sent over because its guarenteed they will get sold. However, if an underground game gets a lot of reserves, then the company will send many extra copies of that game as well thinking that all those copies will get sold.

I really hope GK has some sort of pre-order gift because I know I'll get the extras if my husbands store doesn't go through theirs.

Ooh, that's awesome, Lunaria! ^_^ Of course, it needs to come out in Japan first, before we can even think about it coming out here. ^_^;;

When Apollo Justice came out, I reserved a copy. And it's a good thing, because it was the only copy that particular GameStop received. O_o I didn't get the pre-order gift though, which kind of sucks. >_<

When Apollo Justice came out, I reserved a copy. And it's a good thing, because it was the only copy that particular GameStop received. O_o I didn't get the pre-order gift though, which kind of sucks. >_<

What was the pre-order gift for that? My husband says he doesn't remember there being one for that game. But maybe his store didn't get any because no one pre-ordered it here.

Sometimes people don't get there pre-order gifts for a couple of reasons: 1) You pre-ordered after the pre-order gifts were shipped, so they didn't have enough, the company didn't send enough in the first place, employees forget that there is a pre-order gift, or the company sends a particiular "premium item" and didn't tell the employees it was for a pre-order gift until its too lates (so these just get taken by the employees or given away to customers by mistake).

The only time they take the gifts for themselves on purpose is if they have extra pre-order items left over.

We actually dont get pre-order gifts for alot of games. Some games it suprises me that we dont (like Halo for example) and others, it suprises me that we do, (TMNT the game, we got a copy of the first issue of the comic book from the 80's, for pre orders). From what I've figured out, this is how they decide what/when to do pre-order gifts:

1. If the game is a new franchise, they tend to do a pre-order gift, to generate interest.

2. If the game is going to be a hit and they know it, particular companies (gamestop, bestbuy, etc...) will offer special "unique" pre-order gifts. For example, Fallout 3's pre-order gift from Gamestop was a 5 song soundtrack and a poster, however at Bestbuy, they offered a Nuka-cola bottlecap opener. They do this to try and convince people to buy it from theyre place over any other retail place. I placed a preorder at both... (I need to get my $5 back at bestbuy...)

3. Finally, game companies will put out pre-order bonuses for special games that are sure to be hits, but arent neccissarily best sellers. For example, the Persona games (3 two years ago and 4 this month) got an artbook with pre order.

Sadly, I dont think GK will get a pre order bonus, unless you order it from amazon or the like. AJ wasnt a hugely popular game in the retail side of things, I remember getting like 4 copies at my gamestop and that suprised me since we didnt get any pre orders. I do remember that we had some pre order gifts from the first PW game though, little pointer finger styluses, but that was Capcom/Nintendo trying to generate interest in the product. (they were poorly put together too...)
