He took way too much limelight in GS4 from Apollo.
Not that I don't like him but he should let Apollo have his time to shine.

Mabye Phoenix could be there as some sort of 'reference book to characters of the PW arc'
Ie, in the possible situation of Edgeworth or Von karma being guest prosecutor in the last case, Phoenix could just randomly turn up to his house (not sure why it would be random, anywayyyyy) and say 'They're really good...blahblahblah....I faced them before.... blahblahblah....etc' then leave.
I prefer Phoenix being around as you can also get a load of Apollos 'Mr Wright' jokes/saracastic phrases out.
Accomplice to murder, mabye.... Then his downfall would be complete
that is a possibility though, a quite intriguing one.

This, or the game centering around Hobo!Nick himself averting the timeline of AJAA- Going back and over the course of 4 cases, befriending his past self, convincing him to not take the case that had the forged evidence, or even better, have Phoenix help his younger self better the timeline that will come, and then HoboNick fades from existance, redeemed, telling his younger self to remember to come back and do this, or it will all be undone. Game play would shift between Young!Nick in court, and Hobo!Nick out of court.

In GS5, Phoenix should be the manager of the Wright Anything Agency... so basically his role in 4-2 and 4-3. Maybe there could be a background sideplot that feeds into the final case in some small way where he is hiring people with actual talent. (Lamiroir and Vera are definately in a position to be snapped up - he might have already been working on that as part of his actions in AJ.)

In case 3, Apollo should need some advice from Phoenix (like Apollo needs some info that only the victim could know), and he suggests to go to Maya, Master of Kurain, for some channeling service. (This is also an introduction of older Maya, which we really need, without her taking the spotlight.)
Case 4, which would be a short, one-trial thing, should be his return to being a lawyer.
And finally, case 5 should be the "double case", where both he and Apollo take one case (which are obviously connected).
Preferably, the plot of case 5 would be about Apollo, so that Phoenix doesn't take the spotlight.

Until then he should act as Apollo's boss and mentor. For the most part he'll be away working on his own cases, but you'll have opportunities to talk with him, just as you did in AA4.
