"Well, go ahead. I'm hoping you won't be interrupting me right away after this set of answers."

She paused for a moment, her eyes lacking emotion. "What has come up?"

"Ms. Wagner, I need to know more about the stage crew of the opera. Specifically, there was a college-aged young male."

"Ms. Wagner, all leads help. My job is not to prove Richard innocent, it's to find out who actually committed this crime. He might be a part-time employee, but he is the one with the opportunity to commit this crime. Is there anything else you can tell me?"

"I see you're persistent. It's common knowledge that part-time workers don't stay around for longer periods of time. I assume people don't see such job as a real option for a career... A shame, but that's reality."
She shrugged, then looked again at the eyes of the attorney. "What you're going to say next is probably that you suspect someone, specifically that male, to have joined the crew to carry out this crime, right? Do you?"

"At the moment, Ms. Wagner, I am only collecting information and evidence on those with the opportunity to commit the crime. It is far too early to make such an assumption."

Derek kept his mouth shut, something Issac might still have to learn. Ms. Wagner was just as much a suspect as this crew member. Giving the murderer a reason to suspect evidence existed allowed them an opportunity to explain.

"I thought as much. It's known here that I don't get too personal with even the full-time members of the Company, and so, I'm not too familiar with the part-time workers, either."

She stressed the last words without even blinking to signal that she felt done with the question. "I have no answers regarding that male you're interested in."

That seemed very suspicious to Derek. Surely she would have some inclination, if indeed she was the director. Would they not need direction? He kept his thoughts to himself for now.

Virginia Wagner. What a strange woman. A successful woman who made this company prosper, if the program was to be believed, and she acted so oddly.

"I always get the characters." Derek thought. There was something else he needed to ask his own client. But for now, he'd stick with Ms. Wagner.

"Can you tell me anything about Mr. Smetak? How long has he been here? What are his relationships like with the other members of the cast?"

"Smetak had not worked with Liszt until this performance. He's a big Tchaikovsky fan, so he was excited about being able to perform in one of his operas. Thus, he quickly made it clear how annoyed he felt with Liszt hindering it the way he did. Even so, he didn't appear to hold any grudges and still seemed to respect Liszt's skill as a singer and actor. He mastered his role even faster than Glinkirev mastered his, which is quite an achievement--though, admittedly, his role was smaller. To put it simply, he's a genuinely interested professional."

"Thank you, Ms. Wagner. That will be all for now." Derek excused himself. He had a crew member to find.

"He should still be on the premises, sir," the officer replied. "I'll see if I can get in contact with him." The officer took out his radio.

"Detective, the defense would like to speak with you, sir," he said into the radio.

Finn was indeed still in the premises. Pausing in his consumption of a rather delicious looking sandwich, he fumbled with his radio and managed to say, "Righto, be there in a minute," before quickly scoffing the morsels of his tasty meal. He made his way to the hallway where Derek was, and greeted him heartily.

"Mr Attorney! Um... Daniel, was it? Anyway, you seem to be requiring the assisstance of a detective. How may I help?"

Issac decided to quit on Smetak. There was no way he was going to answer after this long a wait. Derek had told him he would catch up at the office, so he decided to go there. He walked out the opera doors and sauntered to the office.

He entered the doors and went to the floor where they worked. Derek wasn't there, so he sat down and organized things about the case of his laptop.

((Ready to go! :P))

((Hey guys! I'm very new at this trial rp thing, so excuse me if I mix stuff up. I may need a wee bit of help with remembering info right. General Luigi was kind enough to use names I am unfamiliar with XD Just kidding, anyway...))

Caelestis Atra waltzed to her small light blue car with unbearable files in her hands. She wore her basic green jacket with a lavender shirt and dark slacks. Even though she'd grown accustomed to wearing high-heels to look taller, she decided today would be better to wear flats.

I can't believe my boss decided to give me this case, she sighed as she carefully put the pertinent files in her car and drove to the opera house. She held a list in her pocket of all the important people in this case. She had no time to get aquainted with anybody before being thrown this case. Strangely, many detectives were assigned, but for some reason or other, every single one dropped out. Is this case really that... abnormal?
She supposed a murder committed during a performance was "odd" enough.

Cae finally arrived to the opera house, looking for someone, an officer perhaps, who could tell her where she was needed.

((I know, an opening isn't that necessary, but oh well. And sorry if I get your characters wrong :sadshoe: ))

"Is that the Detective?" Derek wondered. He tightened his tie and adjusted his cuffs. There was some information he needed. If things went his way, there isn't much else he would need.

"Good day, Detective, I have been waiting for you." Derek greeted. "I'm Derek Waters, the attorney in the case. I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me?"

Cae looked up as she noticed a professional looking man in front of her. Derek Waters... oh right! He's the defendant's attorney.

"Yes! It's great to finally meet you, Mr. Waters," Caelestis responded cheerfully, shifting the files in her hands as she gave her hand for a shake. "My name is Caelestis Atra, the detective of the case. Um, I'm still a little unfamiliar with the case details, especially the names..." Cae trailed uncertainly. She shook her head. "Excuse me for rambling; we have no time for that. Now, I'm sure your answers are in one of these files..." she grumbled, filing through the papers. "Anyway, what is it you wanted to ask me?"

"This is the detective?" Derek wondered. Just what had he gotten himself into.

He tried to ignore his feelings. Right now, she was the detective, however inexperienced she was. That could only help him at the trial.

"The murder weapon, detective. I understand that it was quite a rare piece. However, it's still a gun. Who is it registered to?"

Caelestis bit her lip; the man's body language seemed like he was uncomfortable. She hoped she could hold onto his trust for this case. She was a detective and was supposed to be in charge, organized, and knowledgable in what she was doing. Cae fought the temptation to say something about this aloud.

Cae smiled sweetly but nervously. "One sec, let me find the info..." she sighed, shifting through her files. Finally, she found the document on the murder weapon. "Here we go," she announced as she quickly skimmed the info. Her face changed from pleasantness to concern. "My, this is quite strange," Cae remarked, shaking her head to disperse her thoughts. "I mean, the owner is unknown; the Department couldn't find a match. In fact..." Caelestis peered at the words, making sure she read them right. "It is the Department's belief that this gun came from the black market."

Caelestis shook her head. Yikes, this is incredibly strange...

Derek nearly cursed his luck.

"Not the answer I was hoping for, in more ways then one. This case just got a whole lot more complicated. Hmmm..." Derek started to think, pushing the glasses up the bridge of his nose.

"Another question, then. This gun, was it absolutely the murder weapon?"

Caelestis twisted her mouth in response to Derek's question. Let's not doubt the police, shall we? she thought a wee bit haughtily to herself. She decided to calm her tongue; becoming defensive against the attorney would only hurt matters.

"The Police Department have absolutely no doubt that this is the murder weapon," Cae replied calmly. She fished out another piece of paper. "Our ballistics expert took careful care to check the ballistic marks thoroughly. As you can see, the ballistic markings on the bullet match those of the gun; the very gun that was most likely acquired through the black market." Caelestis sighed through her nose.

"I may have just gotten this case today, Mr. Waters. But I assure you, I know what I'm doing." She twisted the single strand of strangely silver hair that was down on her cheek while the rest of her dark brown hair was tied up in a messy bun. Cae would normally have all of her hair somehow out of her face, but she'd grown so used to playing with that one piece of silver hair when she was nervous, she decided to leave it down.

"Touchy. I asked if it was the correct gun, not if you didn't do your job. I'll prove that in court, not here." Derek thought in response. Things weren't as clear-cut as he had hoped. Theory-wise, it was still highly doubtful that the intent to murder was here. It would be something near-impossible for the prosecutor to prove. But Derek still needed some decisive evidence of his own.

"That weapon itself." Derek continued. "It is a very unique sort of weapon, isn't it. It only holds one bullet chambered, correct?"

Caelestis calmed herself down. I suppose that wasn't the best thing to say. Well, hopefully it won't harm anything. After all, the case is more important than my ego...

Cae nodded in response to Mr. Water's question.
"Correct, the gun can only hold one bullet at a time."

"Interesting." Derek thought. There was definitely something more to this case. But there was something else he needed to figure out before he left.

"Detective, another question, if I may? Were you able to tell how many times that weapon had been fired?"

Caelestis narrowed her eyes for a moment in thought. "Y-yes, I believe so..." she glanced at her ballistics analysis sheet, unsure if this was ever brought up. As she scanned the paper, her eyes lit up.

"Yes, yes, it says here that ballistics found signs of the gun only firing a single bullet. The one that was fired at..." Cae gulped. Shoot! What was the victim's name!? She took her cheat sheet out of her breast pocket, squinting at the name. She sighed and put the list back. "At the victim. 'Liszt' if that's how you pronounce it," she chuckled lightly. With a name like 'Caelestis', one would think I'd know how to pronounce hard names...

"She's uncertain of the victim's name?" Derek wondered to himself. With this new information, and the uncertainty of the detective, this case almost didn't seem fair.

But Derek paused. What was up at this opera house? Who set that gun? Derek had plenty of theories, but for right now, he needed to focus on other things.

"Thank you, Detective. I trust you'll be well for the trial tomorrow." Derek smiled slightly, the corners of his mouth barely turning. He wondered what tricks the prosecutor would try. But Derek knew what to expect from such people. The only thing that mattered now, was the case.

Derek headed back to his office to prepare

Caelestis smiled tightly, slightly annoyed by her blunder. "I shall see you in court as an informant, Mr. Waters," she answered. And I'll be sure to make sure I know the names by then... she thought to herself. As Cae watched him walk away, she turned around to sit inside the opera house, hoping a little bit of quiet as she studied her notes and files. She wanted to be prepared for tomorrow.

as Derek left, he passed by a man who was leaning on the outer wall of the room. He waited until he had walked out of sight, but took note of his face. He slowly turned and walked into the room.

klak.....klak.....klak.....

His right index finger tapped each metallic seat that he passed.

tink........tink.........tink........

"Are you....the detective in charge of this case?" , he said in a deep, raspy voice, stopping at the seat just behind her.

((no worries. BTW, this is going to be a short post))

Caelestis's thoughts were interrupted by an annoying clanging sound. She briskly turned around, careful to not drop papers.
She regarded the man in front of her; he seemed trustworthy enough. However, she didn't know who he was or how he knew her.

"Yes, I am. My name is Caelestis Atra. And you are...?" Cae finally spoke cordially, carefully placing her hand in front for a shake.

"Name's Spikes Mailliw. Reid has been.....disposed.....I'll be performing my services as Prosecutor from here on....I suppose it's a pleasure to meet you."

He raised his left hand, the reason for which was obvious.

Spikes' entire right arm was made of metal, with sharp ends and points sticking out all over. He had an...incident long ago, you see.
Otherwise, he was rather normal looking. he had long white hair, and metal plated shoes, and an old brown vest on his torso. His face was slightly lined, even though he was in his twenties, and his hair was spiked forward.

"I have a few questions for you, Madame Atra." He rasped, unsmiling.

"Reid's investigation yeilded some substantial results. However, there are quite a few gaping holes in his research. There is one thing I need you to look into for me...
fingerprints. I have searched, but I have been unable to find a result of a fingerprint test on the murder weapon. Tell me....what did your research yield?
Oh, yes, and I'll need the autopsy report.

Finally....I need the location of three individuals. Virginia Wagner. Rufus Woodman. Natalie Sho. Being the detective on this case.....such requests should be simple..."

((Sorry, didn't mean to not post!))

Caelestis looked at the prosecutor with suspicious, but curious eyes. He kind of gives me strange vibes, though the Madame is an interesting touch, she thought as she changed hands quickly to shake his left hand. The metal on his right hand intrigued her, as did the older face on such a younger body.
Realizing she was staring, she quickly jumped and apologized.

"Please, excuse me. I did not mean to... stare," Cae stammered. I'm sure he gets this a lot. "Please, excuse my rudeness. It's is a pleasure to make your acquaintance as well. And no need to call me 'Madame'; I'm not married," she smirked.
She carefully went through her large portfolio to find info on the murder weapon (again) and the autopsy report.

"It is strange; I am also a replacement on this case. Apparently, the detective has been changed a few times!" Cae mentioned, shaking her head with derision. "So, you'll have to excuse me for the little disorganization. I know the defense attorney for the case wasn't too happy with me..." she mumbled, finally finding what she was looking for.

"Glinkeriv's fingerprints were found on the murder weapon. And here is a copy of the autopsy report," Caelestis explained, handing over a manila envelope.

Liszt’s Autopsy Report
Time of death: September 18, 10:47 AM
Cause of death: infected peritonitis from gunshot wound to the abdomen. Ballistic markings on the bullet match those of the murder weapon.

"They give me so many copies of these things, you'd think they'd want me to hand it out to citizens!" she attempted to joke. Cae shook her head wearily. "Anyway, as for the current whereabouts of those people, um..." Caelestis wondered how she was going to know that. She finally found a map in her files and took it out.

"Ms. Wagner is probably in her office, which is here," she pointed on the map. "Woodman's in his dressing room, here. But," Cae looked at the map again. "I would think Natalie is in her dressing room...? But I honestly am not sure." She paused in thought for a second, then suddenly shook her head. "I'm sorry, if you want, you can borrow the map. Unless you have your own...?"

((Those locations are what General told me. He's not sure about Natalie.))
