So, which magician do you think is the bigger jerk? Maximillion Galactica or Zak Gramarye? Both are magicians and both are huge jerks. Max is a jerk in the sense that he's full of himself and thinks all are beneith him. Zak's just a huge arsehole. But who out of them is the bigger jerk? Myself I'm going to go with Zak, because to be fair to Max he does get somewhat better towards the end of 2-3, or at least he seems to. Though at the same time, to be fair to Zak he does write that note confessing to his "crime" to take the heat off of Valant, but that's about the only nice thing he does.
But what to others think? Let's discuss this shall we?

It doesn't even seem to matter that destroying that legacy would likely leave Phoenix without money to support Trucy.

he uses that attitude to motivate his um...fellow circus people. Not the best method but he doesn't really mean it.
And to be honest, I don't think Zak's an asshole either, although the whole 'leave Trucy behind' thing kinda irks me. But if Apollo was also left behind well then I think they left them behind for a reason so.

And Max is much less of a jerk than one may think. At least he admits it. Just because he has a gigantic ego doesn't mean he can compete with Zak/Valant (depending on how you see that story) or even Magnifi.
