Er sorry to like, go off topic and whatnot...
But are you saying all comics involving sprites are bad? :grey:
I mean, I know what you mean by jokes and whatnot, but some sprite comics are really good >.>

Sprites, for the most part, are placeholders in an artist's inability to draw and, especially for webcomics, is lazy and tired.

The PW fandom's heavy link to the sprites is what gives it a slight difference, but aside from custom spriting, the same thing applies.

I am basically saying it requires minimal artistic talent in the visual department, but we are not discussing that in this topic, are we?

I think it has its significance... But there's more to art than simply drawing. As I already told you, I consider writing an art.

Sorry for being so late to the party.

Want to write fanfiction? Write fanfiction.

Can't draw or edit sprites yourself? Get a friend to do it and you do the writing.

But do not call what you're doing "art". You really are just writing glorified scripts with faces put on them. No fucking effort put into any of it. It is insulting, especially to those that have trained and practiced for YEARS to get good at their style.

It is not art. It is called "trying to throw in a gimmick so it can enhance my probably poor writing and humor." And for the record, good writers don't need smilies to make their works stand out.

This point has been made before, a few times at the very least. Dismissing all smiley comics themselves are "gimmicks" and "poor writing and humor" is a stereotype. And while I agree that there are some that fit that stereotype, there's a reason why people choose smiley comics over sprite comics and fanfictions.

They're not highly advanced masterpieces, no. But they're fun (both for the writer and the audience), they usually have some kind of plot, and they are based on the PW series. Just like sprite comics and fanfictions. They get their own forums; why must smiley comics be limited to one topic?

*wonders what happened to "No means no"*

I think you guys have gotten your answer. Continuing the argument is bootless, fruitless, and pointless. There's also no reason for it.

I'm sorry. You have to know when to let go and make do with the options that are presented to you, even if you dislike and disagree with them.

I said, "It's like". It probably qualifies either way.

Can we focus on the subject (namely, smiley comics)? PLEASE!?

Since this subject has exhausted all other arguements, I think it is time to point out that your use of "like" does not qualify your comparison as a simile. Like zuddy said, it is more of an analogy. For your statement to qualify as a simile you would have had to say something along the lines of:

Smiley comics are like a dime a dozen. (This one would sound better as metaphor, just delete like).

Or

Smiley comics are as easy to make as ice cubes in winter.

That being said, I put about as much effort into my smiley dialogues as I put into those previous two examples (i.e. not much). Mine aren't very funny either, but they do get a laugh or two. Usually, I'm just showing an example of a dialogue that might be interesting between two characters, and most of the time I just write the name of character instead of bothering with the smilies (most of them are posted in character topics).

Yeah, guys? If the administration says no, it's pretty much pointless to argue with them. =\

So why not let it rest?

Look, I'm going to put it another way so y'all can understand me.

We do not allow scripts in the creative forums. We allow written fiction, as well as the musics and the drawings, sprite comics, casemakers etc. Just not scripts. So, why should putting smilies in front of them suddenly make it art, and worthy of it's own section... it's fairly ludicrous to me.

Actually, 1 people makes a "person".

2 persons makes a "couple" and you need a whole damn
lot to make a "people".
...Just saying.

Anyways you can always take your script and find yourself a sucker to
make it into a sprite comic. I might be willing, to prove it's not hard...
But scripts are still scripts, smiley or no.

I respect that people want to make smilified scripts, but please, not a whole subforum. Just replace the smilies with names and place it in fanfiction. So what other people have said.
