Oops! So sorry. :oops:

Anywho, yeah, if you'd like, go for it! I'm still not set on how big they should be...I'm thinking somewhere around 120 x 180px for a standing sprite? If we can pull this off, we can always scale the sprites anyway. It shouldn't be too hard to clean it up if they were made bigger. :D

Oh oh!

You gotta give Trucy a finishing move where she pulls out her magic panties :hotti: then she sucks her opponent into the Vortex inside them.

And give Maya a finisher where she holds out a magatama and chains and a psychlock appear binding the opponent, then with a dramatic point she cracks it and with it the opponents soul :chinami:

Also I think a suitable finishing move for Nick would be DOUBLE OBJECTION BEAM!!!!!! Where the ghost of Maya behind Nick and assists his objection blowing the opponent away.

Of course this is only even if you decide to include finishers :shy:

:godot: Godot needs to have a "coffee chug" move, allowing him to regain health or something like that. Also, he must have his "coffee throw" attack and "coffee desk slam," but instead of slamming a desk, he hits his opponent in the face with the coffee mug. For his finishing move, instead of lasers, perhaps he... well, this is kind of a GS3 spoiler...

pulls out a sword and slashes his opponent to pieces.


:sawit: Sawhit should be a fighter too. His weapon: the Thinker, of course. On his finishing move, he will hit his opponent over the head, and The Thinker will announce that it is 1:00 P.M. Clever, no?

:seeds: Kudo as well! He can have a "seed throw" attack, dealing pathetically light damage, and a "seed eat" ability, which will recover a pathetically small amount of health.

:will: As for Steel Samurai... perhaps Will Powers will transform into the Steel Samurai for his finisher?

Like the look of Klavier he can get the fan-stampede attack....provided Edgey doesn't get it first but I'd rather see him slamming skulls than summoning fangirls.

Ahahaha, woww, I'm so glad everyone's having fun with this. Godot and Gumshoe look amazing. XD Eduds, I think the problem with the Godot standing is his chin. It seems like it's a little small, so maybe that's what's making it strange. Which game's sprites were you basing them off of?

I think I've decided to do this with Flash, so how would you guys feel about having the sprites vectorized? Or do you think it'd look more 16-bit-y and cooler if they stayed pixelized? I would actually prefer vectors myself, and I'd happily trace all your guys' awesome sprites. Also, school's getting kind of intense right now, so if I'm gone for weeks at a time, it's not because I've abandoned this. :D Definitely not. Anywho, once things slow down and homework isn't sucking up my mental resources, I'll try coding up the engine so we can see these sprites in action. :D

The style I use is from The King of Fighters and I like the 16-bit styles, but if you want to vector them, that's alright. You're the owner of the game :gymshoe:
Before college starts, I'll work a lot on Godot, so can you tell me what do you need for him? (walking, jumping, types of punching and kicking, special moves and all that stuffs)

I reeeeally wish I had more time to work on this like...right now. I was alone at the track and field weight room the other day after practice and the walls have mirrors on them...I was SO ready to rotoscope moves for characters! Graaahh! I got all excited while I was trying to figure out the best motion for Godot to make when he shoots his LAZER BEAMS.

Anybody with any knowledge of computer hardware and stuff...ever try pulling data from USB in Java? Is it hard? Is it a pain? Easy? Also, my Arduino board finally came in! I feel like such an engineer. ONLY FIVE WEEKS FOR MY GROUP TO MAKE OUR PROJECT WORK. GAH!

For Guitar rift manouver, someone should throw a guitar at him from offscreen, then he plays it until a gnarley riff comes up and fire leaps from the strings while a sillohouetted crowd hang around the bottom of the screen. Then for the big finale he performs a blazing power slide across the arena while the fire trail behind him scorches his opponent.

Okay, so a quickie update, guys.

I just finished the quarter of hell [also known as the quarter of senior design project], but I'm still really busy cuz I'm taking a compilers class, buuuut! I'm taking a computer game development class this quarter, and one of our individual assignments is to make a game using Ucigame [a Java game library]. Soooo, I think I might try to make a super-rough Gyakuten Taisen demo for that assignment [and maybe port to Flash later, cuz I really would like it in Flash XD]. The sprites will be really rough and probably have like...3-frame animations. Ahaha. Anywho, I'll probably make it Phoenix vs. Edgeworth, unless anybody has any other requests. I can probably only handle two characters + animations, so...yeah. Phoenix definitely, cuz he's the main character and all.

Anywho, that's the dealio!

I wonder if you could use perfect prosecutorsprites to save some time for some characters...

You'd need to edit them, of course, but the basic animations...

Hey people! I got an excellent idea!

What if the sprites were made Neo Geo Pocket - style? Saves too much time and it's easy to edit!

@ RandomJibberish and MrCheeze: That actually wouldn't be a bad idea for now...I was actually going to start drawing some sprites this week [since I have a rough game due this/next week x___x ] and I could probably use the walk cycle as a reference. The sprites I'm going to make so far are: Phoenix idle/walk/punch, and Edgeworth idle/block. Haha, they're going to be such rough animations...but I'll make them pixel-y. Whoo!

@ Vitor-Leal: Whoa, you sure thought about it a lot. XD Thanks about the Neo Geo idea, but the artist in me won't let me use sprites that look like that... XD;; I kinda like your ideas for the specials. It's similar to something I had in mind.

It does bring up some questions though. If we were to include status effects like paralysis, it changes the nature of the game a little. I didn't want there to be too many frills with it -- just straight-up fighting with ridiculous/funny/awesome moves. But, that said, we wouldn't necessarily need to gimp the fighting by adding things like status effects...

Wow...you people will really work on this huh? I tried once of making a similar game like this with Warcraft III maps of course after I saw Fight of Characters. Sadly, the spriting made me stop. :sadshoe: But I got to hand it to you for taking such an ambitious project. Good Job! Anyway, I hope this project of yours would be successful and I would be glad to help.

Suggestions:

1. I have to agree there. Adding status effects would make the game harder to be balanced.

2. I also like and support Vitor-Leal's idea of using only the main characters as the playable ones while making others as support ones.

3. If the creator wants a simple game, then normal attacks + 3 special moves and 1 finisher would be just fine.

4. Finishers should be avoidable/blocked IMO

5. If unlocking is an opinion....how about make it like a psyche lock.....and "Unlock Successful" comes out when you beat your opponent...


Spoiler: Main Characters + Finishers
:phoenix: - Objection with Mia's ghost being one with (like in the end of 3-5)

:maya: - A large psyche-lock constricts the enemy making him/her immobile. Breaking the lock also causes damage. (hard to animate! needs a "trapped" sprite for each character!)

:edgeworth: - No idea yet....

:franny: - 8 swift hits of her whip.

:pearl: - Throws gravy from the roast to "gravely roast" the enemy OR her ball hitting the enemy for damage.

:godot: - A Laser Beam.....just like Devil's from tekken....

:udgy: - Pounds the enemy with his gavel.

:karma: - um.....a head bang perhaps
