If this has been done before, which it probably has, lock this thread.

Indeed.

Spoiler: regarding the above
I kept expecting to be able to save her if I could snipe Vamp fast enough... the first time I saw the blood start seeping through her shirt, I thought, "What just happened?!" To make matters worse, my brother and his girlfriend were watching me play, and they both thought I'd accidentally shot Emma.

Spoiler: Siren:BC
This is the only game I can think of for now, but...
How difficult it actually is to get the +BERMUDA 3 RECORD+ archive. Running up to something and grabbing it without being seen is so much harder than it sounds.
Then...well, again, the "Defeat the Pursuer" level, where you're running around...Gojaku mine, I think it's called? A big mine, anyway. When I went to the Mining Office I thought I caught sight of someone that looked really like Seigo Saiga...But brushed it off as similarity. After all, most shibito wear clothes a similar colour to him. I run around the level and set of the siren in the Siren Control Shack/Room...and immediately go into "aim" mode, so I can't see anything but immediately outside the door. I hear a voice shouting, again get the "Huh...that sounds like Saiga..." feeling... After a little while of him not seeing, I jump out of "aim" mode for a moment to see if I can see where he's gone through the little window...I see an alert pop up on the edges in the direction of the window and look out. ...And see Saiga. I'm not sure why I was so not expecting it, because I KNEW he was dead, had a gun, spoke funny a lot of the time, had a really weird English accent and was chasing Miyako, just like Jun. But for some reason my mind never for a second made the connection. I think the most shocking part, though, was being asked to kill him. I knew by this point I'd have to later in the game, even putting obvious aside because of Jun's role and his similarity to it... but I really wasn't expecting that so soon. I thought it was another "Evade the pursuing shibito" levels like the one with Miyako outside the Ito House in Tabori earlier, with just a normal, generic shibito with a weapon. Unfortunately...not.

Spoiler: DQIV ending & Postgame
The girl with the morphing skill comes back to life. The elf girl make sense since you have the flower but this one doesn't. I look at the NES version to see if it was in there(the ending not the flower). now that one was even more confusing.

Malicious, wasn't it?

Oh, and another (minor) shocker was the effects of "Would you kindly..." when you realize that, in reality, that's why you followed Atlas around so much. And the little audio thing with the little boy who was forced to kill his dog with the phrase.

Spoiler: Soul Nomad
Levin being Raksha. Totally didn't suspect it.

I thought SOMETHING was off with Levin before the big revelation but I didn't expect it to turn into idiotic man-cow complete with really bad southern accent to pull a complete 180, literally stab Layna in the back, then cackle and mock you while he drops the accent (it was at that point I realized that he was voiced by Liam O'Brien), reveals he played you all since the beginning to wipe out all his enemies (and it worked for the most part), and that he ate the soul of the boy whose body he's currently in. That was awesome. But evil. But really awesome.

Oh, and the Shadow Court scared the crap out of me. You can save yourself and ruin some random girl's life or you can save the girl who you've never met before and be aged forever. Didn't see that one coming.

Spoiler:
I guessed that Atlas was Fontaine about a third of the way through the game, it seemed the only logical conclusion to make as the plot unravelled. Needless to say I wasn't disappointed in my deductions. However I will agree, that the use of the phrase "would you kindly..?" was an inspired plot device to make it seem that you were carrying out the tasks being asked under your own free will (as per any story driven FPS) when in fact you were really being controlled.

too many of you guys haven't played SS2

Implications only point to two of you specifically actually, but I know that number is actually far higher.

But yeah, finding out that Polito was actually dead and you were being controlled by SHODAN was pretty fucking scary at the time (and still would be if I was to play SS2 for the first time). The loneliness that crept over you was just crushing. A lot of SS2 was filled with minor shocks, it was a hell of an atmospheric game.

P.S. bioshock sucks

due to my shitty computer at the time i could not play SS2. i'm not even kidding.

Most shocking moments in games? Trying to think of one, but in hindsight, they weren't really that shocking. More like : "Hm. Interesting."

Spoiler: Shadow Hearts 1-2
Kato's transformation into a badass was so sudden and unexpected that, yes it did surprise me. In the first game, he was a forgettable flunky. In the second, the first time you see him, he looks like he's put on 200 pounds of muscle, stole a cape from someone and a jawline from a MANLY MAN~. However, as soon as you saw that he became an extremely powerful magician, you knew he had to be the game's endboss, when he summons/merges with Susano-oh.

Which is kind of a downgrade from the first game where you fucking kill GOD. Or rather, what passes as him.

This might not be shocking per se, but it made my heart beat very fast:

Spoiler: Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
OMG my heart beat REALLY fast when Otacon contacted you in the elevator, talking about
A. The elevator weight limit was over 500 pounds when he was in it. He weighs less then 2 hundred.
B. He went to get a stealth suit for Snake, only to find they were all missing.
C. it appeared like someone was purposely holding the elevator up.
D. SNAKE, WATCH OUT! THEY'RE IN THERE WITH YOU!
I felt really afraid because it meant I couldn't see them... then I realized you can still see their sillouetes.
