Currently, I am working on a casemaker for the Nintendo DS, called Ace Attorney DS. I plan to make this a new type of casemaker, which unlike others, has an internal library containing all the files required for gameplay. This means all sprites, evidence/profile images and maps, all bundled into one package. However, I am also planning to use custom evidence/profile/sprite images as well as sprite animations for this library. I am here to basically list a few sprites/images that I would like to port onto the casemaker, allowing anyone to use your images (with your credits) for their cases.

There will also be a museum, which will feature your art/sprites along with your name and description for the sprite/image. If the sprite can be animated, it will have its own animation in the museum.

Now, below this is a list of artists and their sprites. All I need is:

1. The artist's confirmation of the sprite being placed in the casemaker. (You have every right to say 'No'. Simply tell me this and I will mark your name off and make sure your sprites will not be entered into the casemaker.)
2. The artist's name for the 'museum'.
3. The artist's description/quote (can be humorous, etc.) for the 'museum'.

The List of Sprites

Foreword: If your sprite/image is not on here, it has nothing to do with your sprite's quality. I am currently looking for complete, animated sprites that can be used in cases, rather than 'comic' sprites with only one frame of animation. This thread is not to single out bad sprites, I am just trying to find usable sprites.

If you're worried about people ripping your sprites, don't worry. The sprites will be in a .bin INTERNALLY EMBEDDED file. Unlike conventional casemakers, such as PWLib, the images will be on the inside of the engine, encrypted and unavailable for direct ripping by the public.

If you would like to apply to enter this casemaker or feel I may have not seen your sprite/image, you may post it, along with name/description, and I will add it in.

REMEMBER, SPRITES, EVIDENCE AND PROFILES CAN STILL BE ENTERED.

I think a lot of people might not want their main OCs being used by just anyone...

But this could be a good idea for more generic kinda things...

So I would be happy to submit GS4 Maya and front Phoenix.

Ah I see. Well, if anyone feels that way, they may refuse to place them in.

For the GS4 Maya/Front Phoenix; do you have descriptions for them that I can place in the museum?

Phoenix: Our much loved Phoenix Wright, In lawyer form from the front. Also with revamped colours.

Maya: Maya fey as the Master of Kurain. She's still her playful, Burger loving self, though!

Also, You might want to put in my revamped Phoenix court sheet. I can animate it if neccesary :D

It's impossible for them to rip OC characters. It's internal and from what I've heard, the .bin files, unlike Nintendo SDK .bin files, cannot be extracted. If anything, people could only rip the OC characters by using PrtScrn with a load of time on their hands.

I understand, you don't have to worry about them being in there.

There will be FAT loading with external files. If you or anyone you gave permission to use your sprites would want to use Cigami, for instance, they would still be able to. I was just attempting to collect a few sprites to make it easier for people to make cases without having to look around.

Er uh..
I'm a little confused here.

Like, you want to put everyones OCs or other characters in a case maker for other people to make games out of?
Like someone could make Ryder Lexus, Ace attorney?

Haha well honestly, I would rather not have any of my OC's on there.
I've worked hard on them, and if someone wants some origional sprites in their game they can make them theirself.
Or personally ask me for a cameo or something.

Hmm, I don't think that many others would like their OC's in it too.

Hmm... I understand.

You see, the only reason I made this thread was so I could make internally available sprites, unlike other casemakers. This would give the user readily available sprites for them to use.

However, it's no problem, I understand. I'm sorry to anyone offended by this, I've never made a sprite/known what it would have felt like for someone to use my OC.

If it was that easy, don't you think everyone would do it?

99% of the "OC"s on the site are edits from AA games... why didn't you all start from scratch and make them yourselves?

My intention isn't to be rude or pushy. Obviously you and anyone else is free to give permission or not, but the implication from your statement seems to be that game makers are just lazy and should just make their own sprites. Scripting and coding the game is a lot of hard work by itself and is a distinct ability from being able to sprite edit (lucky is the (wo)man that can do all three well).

B12Core's idea (presumably, I don't know him or speak for him) is to give game developers with perhaps less artistic ability a chance to make a good game that the entire community can enjoy without simply recycling AA characters from previous games. It's a fine idea, and even though the reaction seems to be less than warm thus far, hopefully a few people will be willing to contribute (and also give permission to PyWright and PWLib should they wish to implement the same idea) -- though I suspect far more will reject the idea than will embrace it.

I just want to make it more convenient for the users so that the sprites will be right in front of them when they choose to make their cases. :phoenix:

But it's the artist's choice. It's their work.

EDIT: Hmm.

I may have found a solution to this problem.

Each animation uses a unique ID. If I were to change it so OCs that do not want to be generally used in the public but don't want to go through the hassle of converting a sprite sheet into AADS's format, can be given a secret ID.

For example:

SupWithYouSammie's Ryder Lexus could be: F8FG0EGW8BN7Z89R9N

This would prevent anyone except Sammie and anyone that Sammie gives permission to, to use that sprite.

uh dude, I wasn't insulting the dude that's makin the case maker, nor did I say it was easy.
I was just saying that I made some sprites, and I would rather not have them accessible for everyone to make a fangame with.
If you really wanna use mah sprites, gimme a PM and we could work together to make a fangame.

I never said it wasn't any hard work man.
But both parts require hard work.
Spriting can be hard, and so is writing script.
I know that script is hella hard.
But that has nothing to do with sprites XD
No one is insulting B12Core for his idea.
They would just prefer that their OC's aren't used in this project.

OC= Origional Character, or concept. To a person, OC's have personalities. And some may not want their origional personalities to be used in a different way.
No one said OC ment TOTALLY ORIGIONAL 100% SCRATCH WORK.

B12Core said it himself.

I agree completely. I have nothing but respect for those people that do really great work. I also understand that some people don't want their character used because they have some personal attachment to it, are using it in their own fangame or some other perfectly acceptable reason.

I was just pointing out that it's not the case where everyone making a game can just come up with their own sprites, no matter how much time or effort they put into it. So the idea that they should "just make their own" is kind of tough.

Ahh but you see, everyone starts somewhere.
It starts with a simple recolor, then maybe a headswap.

Practice makes perfect my friend =D
Maybe I said that in a fairly unreasonable way.
Let me fix it.

"I've worked really hard on my sprites. And if someone wants a fangame using origional characters, they should ask very nicely, use the old characters, use characters from other games, or practice practice practice."

I think I might just use the original characters of the 4 AA games and just recolouring them so they can be generically used in any fan case.

well a simple solution would probably be to ask afew spriters in the comunity to contribute a sprite (maybe not there main oc) but maybe just afew that the general public could acess themselves...of course it would be optional for a person to contribute to the cause and credit provided of course. :godot:

but please feal free to disreguard my suggestion :sadshoe:

(i know you might be saying exactly what im saying but i think the problem was the way you asked...probably confused people maybe edit the topic to list of contributers as the contributations come in instead of just looking for a sprite and putting the sprite up sayin you want those...because most of um are that persons main oc's) sorry so much i typed up :meekins:

It's alright, I understand. There isn't a huge demand for custom OCs in the ROM in the first place, it would just be more convenient than you guys having to code your own sprites by yourselves.

As long as you give credit, if not, Gant will come to your house at night... :damon:

Actually this database might not be a bad idea, but I would suggest asking people prior to including them here.
It's only fair towards the creator. :P
I'd rather not have Axel and Reno on here, other 2 are fine. (feel free to code them though, just not distribute 'em) XD

Buuut, I have a solution.
I made a set of somewhat generic Lawyers (Phoenix body base and poses, but other head, etc.) , and would be free to use without credit.
Now then, I'll finish the base pose for 4 of them, so you can better understand what i mean by this.

Personally, I think this would be best for now, this way people can freely use other char. without the hassle of the name, personality, etc. that the original creator had in mind.
Everyone wins! no?

Ofcourse, these would not be limited to just this casemaker, but for everyone.

But I'm rambling here, let's first hear some opinions on this.

Yeah! By the current responses I've gotten from OC artists (I apologize if I seemed a little pushy), it seems like generic sprites are perfect. I mean, recoloured bases shouldn't be that hard to make, and are very easily used.

Sure, you can use Justine. Only problem being, she is made for a sprite comic, and so only has one open mouth pose, no blinking or inbetweens.
