Simply as the title says...What video game(s) got you really hooked into playing video games in general? For me it was the Golden Sun games.

The first game I remember playing consistently was the Silver Surfer game for the NES. I'd pretty much just turn on the NES (I believe I was 4 at the time) and just moving the D-Pad around and trying not to hit things. I wasn't very good at it.

Later, my Dad bought a Genesis and I would play a Spider-Man game for it, Sonic the Hedgehog, Street Fighter II: Championship Edition, and the Batman TAS game, Mortal Kombat, among other things. I didn't start playing video games a lot until I got my PS1 with games like Marvel Superheroes, Star Wars Rebel Assault II, and some Fantastic Four game. I'd say the first game I played a ton right after getting it was Marvel Superheroes.

I believe I owe my gaming ~~obsession~~ hobby to Super Mario Bros 3 on the NES. I don't remember very clearly, but it's one of the first games I truly played through then end. Afterwards, they got me a Sega Master system that tragically died too soon, then a Super Nintendo. But i didn't really hit my gaming strinde until I got to the N64 era.

Pokemon on the GBC. When i was like 5, i used to play it like forever, just hammering away on it. It was amazing how i beat the game without knowing what to do, also on the first play through, i got through rock tunnel without flash ._.

Pokemon, in general. Probably Gold if I have to be more specific. Most of the games I own are Pokemon games, but Gold was my first game ever and I loved it to bits.

Well the first game I ever played ever was Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I still haven't beat it :nixiesob:

There were a few other games that I played here and there, but I wasn't really that into it. Then one day my uncle took me with him when he had dinner with his girlfriend (they're married with two kids now :D!) and her family. The adults were all talking about the boring things adults always talk about, so I wandered on over to the playstation and helped myself! I saw Final Fantasy VII there and remembered seeing it in my uncle's room next to FFVIII. I played it, but I didn't help Jessie when her leg got stuck, so I couldn't leave the building before the reactor blew up. I just couldn't figure it out (until I actually bought the game myself when I was fourteen)! But it did seem interesting, so when I got home I just played my uncle's copy of FFVIII and fell in lurve with it. Thus, a gamer was born~

Same (Blue), but...I still haven't got through the tunnel, even with Flash xD

I have to say Pokemon Blue as well. XD I'm not completely sure if it was the first game I've ever played... but I remember going to my video game-playing cousin's house when I was around 8 or 9 years old and coming back home with a Game Boy Color and a Pokemon Blue cartridge. ^_^ I'm sure that was the first game I ever owned.

And thus a monster was born. *shot*

I played Super Mario Bros. at friends house and the rest is history. I got a NES for Christmas in first grade and I've owned almost every console since that time.

Some of the legendarily hard games for the NES, back in their time: Konami's Contra, Gradius and Jackal, Nintendo's Mario 3 and Zelda II, LJN's Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th and Karate Kid, and potentially one of the weirdest titles I ever played, Taito's Legend of Kage.

If videogames make murderers, then guns kill people and spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat.

tetris was the first game I ever played, on original gameboy.
super mario land 2: 6 golden coins got me hooked more than tetris.
I got into pokémon because as a kid I watched the show all the time, and the red/blue/yellow generation of games cemented my interest in handhelds.
mario party (the original) was the first home console game I played, and got me into consoles.
call of duty (also the original) got me into computer gaming, FPS, and online games all at once.

Oh, the wonders of being a newbie who started gaming with the SNES and the PS1 and the N64...

Back in my day, we played real games. And seems Konami wants to bring that back, with Contra 4 being the first effort towards that.

Well for me, it was Sonic 2 for the Sega Genesis. My younger cousin had it originally, and for my birthday my aunt and uncle gave it to me becuase I loved it so much. She still had her Super Nintendo and Super Mario World 2 (I think...) but yeah getting that Sonic 2 lead me to get Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles plus some other Sega Games and led me to my first Gameboy, Gameboy Advance and now Nintendo DS.

Well the first game I played was Sonic according to my parents. I grew up with a Mega Drive, SNES, but we sold them to get a Playstation, which we later sold to get a good gaming PC, all which I had no control over (since my dad games). Whilst I played games on all these consoles I was still too young to really remember them and take them in.

I still remember the day I got a Gameboy Colour though. It was completely by surprise (for my birthday I think) and at the time I shouted "YES I CAN GET POKEMON!" since all my friends had it. I later got Pokemon Yellow and I guess I started with that. For christmas that year though I got the N64 with Goldeneye, and since I remember these games I guess these got me into gaming since I was old enough to take the games in etc. Eventually we got a PS2 and it just escalated from there. So I guess Pokemon Yellow and a few games on the N64 got me into gaming properly.

Way back in the day, my dad and I used to play computer games together... I think the first ones we played were King's Quest 4 and Altered Destiny. Then on Christmas of '96, we got a SNES, and then my brother and I would play games on that, but we'd often avoid the hard/scary levels (in Super Mario RPG, for example, that was... everything beyond Mario's Pad... yeah, we were wimpy kids XD). We got braver over time and as a result, were later able to get much farther in the games we played. Although I still haven't managed to do much in Altered Destiny... that game is just mean because it's an old adventure game. XD
