Well, hello. I think this is the first topic created specifically for this. For what, you may say.

Well, as the title vaguely explains, I'm offering my services as a PWLib AA/Custom Character Coder. That is, you give me your .gif files/sprite sheets, and I'll code them for use in the PWLib Casemaker.

For references, I've coded the Judge's Brother, Manfred von Karma, Victor Kudo and Ini Miney (last two actually in debugging) for YggdrasilsSword's fangame, "Damion Shard: Ace Attorney", and for addition to PWLib's GFX.

Want me to code your chars? Post your gif/sheets here (in a .rar/.zip file) or PM me!

---
To-Do List:
-
---
Current Priority/ies:
-
---
0.- PENDING = Still not working on it.
1.- Standby Phase = Created the files, is on standby
2.- Sheet Phase = Currently collecting/fixing/renaming sheets.
3.- Coding Phase = Currently coding the animations.
4.- Revision Phase = Finished coding, currently revising.
5.- Debugging Phase = It's already out, but people are debugging it.
6.- COMPLETE = Debugging is complete, therefore, there isn't anything else to do.

(Note: The GS1-4 characters I was doing were done by Comaster. You can find them in the PWLib thread. The link leads to page 100, so scroll back some pages.)

I'm not really sure this merits a seperate topic from the PWLib topic. Especially not in the game sections as this is more towards coding. You could always post something in your signature, similar to what I have.
If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything!

Yeah, I don't really want to have people in KSA_Tech's topic asking me for codes. And it's OK in the Games section, since it's for casemaking. If I were telling people "I'll create Animation-ready sheets for you", and not coding, it would be in the "Sprites" section. If I get no responses, meh, I'll just have "Want to add your Custom Characters to PWLib? PM me!" in my signature.

It is better to keep on a separated post so it wouldn't get lost on the PWLib Topic.

I still believe putting a link in his signature would be the best idea. This topic can very easily get ignored.

This topic can get popular, since PWLib is easy to use and there are at least ten tons of OCs out there.

The first person to say on the forums that PWLib is easy, aside from the usual users (at least if it is really meant to be that).

I really think that been separated from the PWLib topic would make it easier to keep track of things. Just hope people really go after PWLib for game engine and have OCs to make them.

Also this could be used to ask for characters not present on PWLib SCS. Since centered place for ordering.

I think this is a pretty good idea, DeMatador. I don't really have any OC's for you to code, but keep up the good work.

@Steel Samurai: May I?!?! YAY! I thought you wouldn't release the new version, since it's the same than before, but OK! Thank you! :D :D :D

@YggdrasilsSword (I can write your name without copy-paste! :D): Thank you very much! What first made me create this topic was what KSA_Tech said. In a few words, it's better than just a sig-ad. Just... it's more accessible.

Also, DeMatador, if you think of an better, easier way to animate characters (aside from SAS Classic and SAS Animation Builder), let me know. Since you're going to be animating lots of characters, it could help you out when 1.2 gets released.

DeMatador, I know it says "Custom Characters", but if you aren't busy, do you think you could help out with Victor Kudo's animation?
If you don't already have 'em, the GIFs are at http://www.ksatechnologyhq.com:1357/subhosted/sheet_VictorKudo.rar.
And here's my work so far, with about half of his animations done.
Code:
//Phoenix Wright Library
//Kudo File
[pw_createkudo]
runscript("pw_loadkudofiles");

//Normal
createanimation("Kudo_Normal",1);
insertanimationframe("Kudo_Normal",1,10161,40);

Damn it, you ruined the surprise. Kudo is 85% done, I just need to fix some bugs and his seed throwing sfx.

Surprise?

And maybe more. My schedule is:
3 AM to 12 PM (noon): Sleep.
12 PM-12:30 PM: Lunch.
12:30 PM-1:30 PM: Random activity. Usually TV.
1:30 PM-3 PM: "Zelda: Twilight Princess" (I just started it)
3 PM-5 PM: Swimming pool time. It's too hot here in Argentina, around 37 ºC (I don't know how many ºF that is)
5 PM-5:30 PM: Tea time.
5:30 PM-6:30 PM: Any not-Zelda Wii game.
6:30 PM-10 PM: PC Time. Random YouTube lurkage + Character developement.
10 PM-11 PM: Dinner.
11 PM-2 AM: Moar PC Time. Usually Character developement.
2 AM-3 AM: Random activity. Usually TV.
(Holidays started in December, so this will be my schedule until March 3)

By the way, KSA, did you add Karma's Revision 1 to GFX 3.0?

Just to know, because I don't know if I posted it in the PWLib topic.

Anyway, does somebody know what's Kudo's "seed throwing" sfx? It sounds like "sfx-smack.wav", but I'm not sure it's it. So I could use if someone know for certain which it is. Thanks in advance.

Oh, BTW, Kudo's Animations are finished. I'm in Testing phase, so Revision 0 may be up between tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday. If there're no actual problems, he may be up today, even! But I doubt that -_-

It isn't sfx-smack.wav, for sure. But I don't think it's tied to Kudo's animation itself, as it only plays once when he begins his seed throw.
The link below is a scene from PW:T&T in which Kudo uses seed throw. See how its sounds and works there.

And too about that "Kudo has unlimited ammo", "he isn't throwing seeds for the pigeons, he is throwing seeds AT them." and Kudo's words "So, you don't like my seeds, eh, pigeons!? Go on! Eat this!"

OK, I'm back from my "vacations". See the "Damion Shard: Ace Attorney" thread for more information. Just to say that Kudo is ready.

But the sfx problem persists. It seems Kudo's Seed Throw Animation is split in two: The first part, with the sfx-smack playing twice, then the animation looping without sound. I'll see how that works.

Well, after repeated interruption,s placement phail on my part, and the sudden visit of my cousin, I'm inclined to ask if you could add Apollo Justice, even if he is not a custom character.

(Sorry for double post)

@GenoWhirl

Huh? Polly's not in yet?

Bleh, his animations should be pretty easy, so I'll do him.

Current To-Do List:
-Kudo: 99% (Debugging Phase)
-Ini: 99% (Debugging Phase)
-Apollo: 0% (Standby Phase)
-Dahlia: 0% (Standby Phase)
---
I should change the thread's name, to reflect that not just Custom Characters will be added (so far, I just did Original ones).

Sweet, DeMatador, for the Kudo and Ini; I'll integrate them into Damion Shard. Also, notice you changed the thread name. :phoenix:

By the way, heads up, Dahlia :chinami: might be a bit tricky, because of the transparency effect on her shawl in game, which is not reflected in the GIFs or sheets.

Well seeing as how many of the Apollo Justice characters aren't in yet, if you have time, can you please code in Kristoph and Klavier?

Thank you very much.

P.S.: Does anyone have sprite sheets for young trucy?

I'll also eventually need both of them for Damion Shard - Ace Attorney.

Anyway, DeMatador, Ini's damage animation needs a bit of a fix. Noticably, she takes damage a second time after talking, due to a lip sync related issue. This is one of the situations where you'd want to disable the lip sync for the intro animation, but reenable it before going to the "damaged" animation.

Yeah, new thread name reflects more the point of the thread.

Anyway, I know about Dahlia's transparency effect. I'll try to find the correct transparency perecentage for it. It should be a bit higher than the text box's.
Dahlia was actually a petition from KSA_Tech, via MSN. Right now, I'll do Apollo, Klavier and Kristoph (in that order), then, if I have no more petitions, I'll start work on Dahlia.

Right now, I require sheets from KSA for all of them.

I'll do the as soon as possible.
I hope the gifs with Dahlia simply work nicely. (and one big reason for the gif to not have transparency: because gif runs only on 256 colors, no semi-transparency supported (it uses color keying to generate transparency).

Color keying is one of the crappiest ways to deal with image transparency (because you can't make one single image with a transparent area and a semi-transparent area in a same picture).
