I know people here play things.

Hatman plays UFS.

I currently don't play anything.

Started out playing Pokemon like every random kid. Over the years I have been a Score whore. Playing mostly Score games. Which is a terrible thing to be. The company died this month, so that's out.

The last event I played at was a Bleach TCG regional about a year and a half ago. That game was fairly horrible. It seemed kinda cool at first because it was a resourced based game, but your mana was side boarded, but it was under tested and mismanaged to hell.

Before that I played the uhh, errrr, the InuYasha TCG. Despite the terrible property, it was actually pretty amazing. The gameplay was really fresh and fun, and for an anime property game it lasted for a pretty long time. Loved it.

Past that, I played Score's other two big games, DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho. Old Z is one of the coolest, most unique games I've ever played. I love it to death.

I've tried a variety of games: most every other Score game, YGO, Magic, WoW, Kingdom Hearts, Naruto, Bandai DBZ, other stuff.

I kind of miss card games and I've been trying to find something to play without much luck. It's hard to rope the people who I played with back during my InuYasha days to playing other things too. From what I've looked at Fight Klub sounds cool, but the way it's structured is kind of confusing and I'm not even sure it has a tournament circuit.

Talk about card games here.

The problem with card games is that they either don't last or the developers get so fucking full of themselves they kill off the game due to their own ineptitude.

Damn am I glad Dave Freeman got off UFS.

I liked playing Pokémon when I was younger. Went to some gameshop that'd have afternoons with lots and lots of people playing. Was lots of fun. The problem with card games (and every other collectible game) is that it's so stupidly expensive. Also what Hatman said.

Depending on the collectible game, it can be bearable to not bearable.

For example, card games cost a metric shit ton of cash because hey look at that releases every 4 months and you're not guaranteed to get what you want. Other games tend to cost less since with a bit of research you can find out what you really want and buy only that. If there's a fixed, and not random, way to get what you want in collectible games it tends to cut costs drastically.

Of course, in card games, that's the singles market, which marks up the price so fucking high it's not even funny.

That was one of the good things about InuYasha. The playerbase wasn't that huge, and you could usually get what you want for a decent cost. It also helps to have friends that buy/receive a lot of product. I'd say every deck I ever played at an event was usually at least 25% borrowed stuff. So, I never really had to invest that much in the games I played.

In fact, when I played bleach, I invested 90 bucks in it, borrowed most of the deck I used, top cut (which was ridiculously easy because the tournaments were so small) then sold all of the product and prizes and made all of that money back plus a lot more. Of course, games like these don't last like the big games do, so there's that.

That happens a lot too. I've got boxes and boxes of cards from dead games. The only things that really seem safe these days are Magic and Pokemon. I really don't care for either.

I have played Pokemon, Yugioh, and Magic the Gathering.

My Magic deck was pretty concrete and I never changed it since I got it. Mostly because they were all first editions and old and I felt stupid trying to put in newer cards that looked nothing like them. My cool elderly next door neighbor nerd gave it to me. I still have it. Some of the cards might be worth something but I dunno, I think it's neat to have.

It's wintertime/woodland with bears themed. It's really awesome and charming. Grizzly bears and trees and snow and uh some elves but mostly woodland creatures in the woods.

I played Magic until what zu said

I used to play M:TG pretty hardcore for a while. Mostly Red/White and Blue/White decks. Even dabbled in a few tournaments here and there. (Not that I got anywhere with those. Haha.)

I'm not sure why I got out of it. It costs a shitload of money, though. At least, to get some decent cards. I still have a ton of cards somewhere.

I just collect them till I had to choose what to buy so I pick video games. I didn't like how ones I really want to collect were hard to get and they stop them. FF8 had only two places and both were gone, .hack went down hill.

OH FUCK YES!

But really. It was pretty ridiculous for the first two sets. The wording on the cards was awful, the game was all over the place, and the rule book was awful. After all that dumb crap got pounded out in the third set, they actually laid the foundation for a good game.

Anger was a good mechanic and considering the fact that it wasn't just some Magic derivative (in fact it was about as different as you could get), it was one of the best games you could play while it was still alive.

I used to play "HKK" or "Cards of Might", a Hungarian card game.
It was good until the latest expansions started to get more and more strong, so it became hard to keep up with the development.
Just became too expensive and I quitted.

I think I'm going to play Pokemon this summer. I was talking to some friends of mine and they want to try to go to the Video Game and TCG National tournament, which are in the same place at the same time. This going to be/feel so weird.

I play Yugioh a lot. I rarely get to play Magic mostly because my deck is far too weak to go against anyone who runs either Blue or All-Color lockdown. Which is pure BS because their decks have to have costed at least a good 400-500 and that's the slightly low tier decks.
Yugioh on the other hand... still slightly less expensive but the Lightsworns tend to bend that belief as one deck can go for a minimum of 600-800 if you get nothing but ultimate rares and all that shit.
And for god's sake. A single card going for 250? Goddamn Crush Card.
Oh well, it's not like the WoW card game where one goes for 600.
And speaking of expensive card games... and of Magic... I've seen someone with a deck that ran around 1000 bucks. And their old school cards? the P9 cards go for at least 1000 with some.

I once played Yu-Gi-Oh, DBZ, Pokemon, some WWF tcg, Magic: The Gathering, and I even had a Yu Yu Hakusho deck for a game that I rarely played. I also had a deck for some shitty warlord game, I forget what it's name was but it was bad.

I threw away my DBZ cards because they were taking up too much space in my room. I had bought boxes upon boxes for a game that no one wanted to play with me.

I gave away my Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Big mistake because I had a kickass deck that dealt Direct Damage to my opponents. I should have charged the kid $200 for everything.

Like DBZ, I threw away my wrestling cards because...it's wrestling.

I think I still have a case of Pokemon cards somewhere. My rare cards are MIA with no trace of their whereabouts.

The Yu Yu Hakusho cards are gone and for what I care they can stay gone.

I still have my MTG cards but I don't play with as much as I used to. Like others said before me, trading card games are a way expensive hobby, and it's a hobby I'm not interested in, unlike video games.

I mostly play Poker these days. I even won $25 from a game last Friday at a comic shop I occasionally visit.

I was lurking around the UFS section of a forum I go to and I saw some random trade in program Fantasy Flight has, where you send in 2 decks of any game and they send you two starters. That sounds like something that would be kind of good to do.

Though I doubt at the momentum all of this pokemon stuff is going for the people I play with, that'd I'd be able to rope any of them into playing any more than just trying the game out. Still, free cards for 120 worthless cards.

Oh thanks, I didn't realize. We should totally move this thing. Like to the section of the forum where people like to talk about the Susan Boyle video and the weather and what you ate and current events. All of those things have a lot more in common with card games than video games do.

The two starters are random, so you might not get starters that you can properly mash up, but both will be playable out of the box.

The only reason to run a pure license deck is if you're in the UK at the license only championships or if you're planning on losing a lot of games.

Each starter comes with a rules sheet, and the actual tournament document is available in .pdf on the website so you shouldn't be too lost either. Used to be a demo when the game was handled by Sabertooth Games, but they haven't put it up. If you has questions I can answer. If you weren't such a SNK nut I'd tell you to get one of the newer starters because they're awesome, they've got the revised rules sheet in there and if you play standard rules (as opposed to legacy rules), these will be legal longer.

Also, Wild Wolf Terry is busted strong, so if you can get him (He's in the King of Fighters 2006 set) you can play him. He draws cards and heals himself through his powers of being fucking Terry.

I was into Pokemon when I was little, but it was never to actually play the game. (It was like Monopoly to me: you start the game, get bored, and walk off). Needless to say, I had a short attention span with card/board games. I really wanted the cards for the sake of collecting and looking at them. After a while, I got into Digimon and collected those cards... they're probably somewhere in my closet still. <_< Then, my brothers got into Pokemon, so I gave them my cards, and then they got into Yugioh. I also bought a starter set of Kingdom Hearts and was planning on buying a Bleach one, but that's when I drew the line and realized I wasn't really gonna do anything with my cards.
I often go into my brother's room and look at his Yugioh cards for the sake of organizing them, like into trap, monster, etc. or their attack power, or other stuff... my OCD keeps me entertained. :yogi:

Not very, in that set, character cards were so abundant it turned a lot of players off of the set. He doesn't have a lot of rares this time around, however.

Terry is also present in the Flames of Fame set, but it's his original costume.
