Spoiler:
YESSS! I had a feeling that he would! I'm just wondering who's going to play him. I know that one of the actors that played him is now on Heroes. I also know that Capitan Jack Harkness is coming back as well. This is going to be the most awesome fight of all. Oooh! What if The Master takes Jack's body?! Beef Still, can't wait!

Spoiler:
The Master is back...again?! Geez, that guy has more lives than a cat! Not my favourite of characters, I'm afraid, and I wish he'd just stay dead. So, I wonder what rotteness he is going to be up to this time: was something specific mentioned or is he just going to be his very nasty self in general? Edgy I still shudder when I think of what he did to people in Logopolis. That was really creepy.

So..who's your favourite Doctor? Mine is number 4, Tom Baker. Edgy Thinks

I love Baker, he's a classic. But honestly, the first Doctor I ever saw, the one that got me hooked on the series, was Eccleston. I wish he'd stayed around longer :( I love his "FANTASTIC!"

The episode with Rose's dad makes me sniffly :(

Good to see another Baker & Eccleston fan. Edgy Thinks I loved that episode though I cried...it was so sad. I was really upset when Eccleston left after one year--I really liked him. I must say, though, that I am happy with David Tennant's performance all around though now I read that
Spoiler:
Rose is gone and there is another Companion to take her place. I really liked Rose a lot, too! Grrrr! I wonder why she was written out? Does anyone know? I read about this in an interview on sci-fi.com with David Tennant awhile back about the 3rd season and he mentioned that Rose was leaving but not why.
.

Tom Baker got me hooked on the series back when I was 16 years old and I had a massive crush on him as well. Bell Boy My mom watched "Doctor Who" weekly so I kind of got into the habit of watching it and Baker's was the first episode I ever saw.

What do you think of David Tennant? Good Doctor, bad Doctor or just there?

In my opinion (Even though nobody wants to hear it), Tennant is easily my favorite doctor. Eccleston comes in at a close second. Tennant has a lot of energy, Eccleston's voice is easier for me to mimic. Larry

Speaking of Tennant, I just recently learned that he's Scottish and uses a fake accent while playing the Doctor.

How could I not have known that until now? Ini Mimi

I loved the new series but sadly I missed pretty much every episode of Tennant's first season after the reunion episode... I don't watch TV that often so I'm probably going to wait for DVD release so I can watch it whenever I have the time.

The fourth doctor was indeed the best. Ever.

The new ones seem too similar, compared to how in the old days, the doctor would go through some pretty nice cosmetic and personality changes. The little quirks, you know? The newest one is just too .. I don't know, not likable, but not hatable. Too neautral of a character.

Doctor Who is by far my favorite show. I know I posted this link before, but here it is again: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/24604175/

I dunno who my favorite is. I can pick four who are alternatively my favorites: Baker (4), McGann (8), Eccleston (9), and Tennant (10). They each have their highs and lows, but they're all really great as their own take on the Doctor.

By the way, if you haven't, I would suggest checking out some of the Eighth Doctor novels. Truly fine pieces of what science fiction series writing SHOULD be, as opposed to the drivel that often passes for Star Wars fiction (not that all of it is bad; some of it is in fact better than the movies, in my opinion, at least story-wise).

Anyway, the Doctor is a very interesting hero. He doesn't have a weapon. He abhors violence. He's constantly on the wrong side of the law of whatever place he's in. He can't save everybody, but he tries his damnedest. Even Daleks.

John Simm? He's really good in Life on Mars, even when he is angsting over being trapped in 1973, so I don't have any worries. Does anyone here watch Life on Mars? It's TEH AWESOME
And did anyone see Breakfast this morning? They had some info about the new series of Doctor Who. The only real important bits were a new trailer and footage of The Doctor and Martha kissing. I suppose being ill comes to it's advantages sometimes. Larry

Now that the series is back on T.V. again (England at least). I believe we should discuss it again.

The new assitant became instantly lovable and her and the Doctor make a good team.

In England, because of Football (Soccer) it may not be on if it goes on for too long.

Returning characters, episode summaries (if you have them), plot summaries et al..anything and everything that you can tell me I would like to know. Edgy Thinks

I know that Billie Piper [Rose] isn't returning (RATS!) but I don't know why. Have you read anything anywhere that says why she's not returning? Did she quit? Was she written out? Was she fired? She was one of my favourite Companions, too (fave Companions being Romana, Ace & Sarah Jane Smith), worse luck. :(

She quit as she wanted to do other work.

(spoiler tags put but magazines and websites don't consider them spoilers, just things to look forward to)

For returning characters...
Spoiler: OMG IT'S....
Captain Jack, Face of Boe, All four Daleks, that's all I can think of so far.

Here are some synopsis' from Wikipedia:

Spoiler: Episode 1
On meeting the mysterious John Smith, medical student Martha Jones finds her life turned upside-down. A lightning storm and some upside-down rain sends the Royal Hope Hospital to the Moon, and Martha must cope with the fierce Judoon, killer motorcycle couriers, and a blood-sucking Plasmavore. Her ally in the crisis, a Mr John Smith, soon proves he is no ordinary hospital patient.

Spoiler: Episode 2
The Doctor takes Martha on her first trip in the TARDIS. Arriving in Elizabethan England, they meet William Shakespeare who is writing his play, Love's Labour's Won. However, evil, witch-like Carrionites plot to end the world by placing a code in the new play's closing dialogue. Shakespeare will have to give the performance of his life in order to save the Earth.

Spoiler: Episode 3
The Doctor returns to a much grittier New Earth with Martha, eventually to meet the Face of Boe one final time. But the city of New New York has now been turned into a deadly trap, and when they find the streets deserted except for the Pharmacists, they must brave the ordeal of the mysterious Motorway in order to discover the terrible secrets at the heart of the city. What monsters lurk below the surface, hidden in the smog?

There. If anyone wants me to put more, just ask... but you can check them via Wikipedia.

Yay! Captain Jack's back in tonights episode! *dances*
Alright, that makes me sound like a real Captain Jack fangirl, but a combination of
a) Torchwood's ending. I'VE BEEN WAITING TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS SINCE NOVEMBER DAMMIT.
b) Captain Jack, and the mystery of how he got to Cardiff... I'VE BEEN WAITING TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS SINCE TWO YEARS AGO DAMMIT.
c) Friday Night with Jonathan Ross last night. Anyone see it? That clip looks gooood.
d) The fact that this series has been pretty poor, compared to 1 & 2, IMO. Hopefully Capt. Jack's return will give the series a shot in the arm.
e) I don't like Martha & The Doctor's relationship. In fact, I don't really like Martha, TBH, and I don't know why. I thought she'd grow on me, but after 6 episodes, I still feel a bit 'meh'.
Spoiler: Extremely Minor Spoilers
And how many bloody times does she get kidnapped?

Means I'm HYPED! Yeah! And also hungry, but that's got nothing to do with anything. Ayup. Yanni Yogi

The epic trailer at the end of the Lazarus experiment? The rest of the series as a whole? I have no idea. But the cast lists and intervews say that Captain Jack is in 'Utopia' and the two part series Finale.

Also, David tennant said that both the face of Boe and the doctor are correct. He is the last of his kind, but he is not alone. Either the Master is more devious than we thought, or it could be...

I loved it because it was one of the only times this season where the doctor didn't pull a switch and made it all better. (The Lazarus organ death was too original to be classed as that). I also loved the sense of urgency and The Doctor Saying 'Burn with me Martha!'

42 was the first episode this series that I actually liked, to be honest. I loved the real-time aspect, which gave it a sense of urgency and although the villain's story was a bit rubbish,
Spoiler:
The sun getting revenge by possessing people? What's that all about?

I did still like the bad guys.
The next episode(s) look brilliant as well. Creeepy boarding school, a human Doctor and walking scarecrows? Very good.
And, while I'm here I might as well post the clip of Utopia they showed on Friday Night with Jonathon Ross... http://freemaagyeman.com/news/2007/05/1 ... ew-freema/
