Last week I was singing in a recital for the play my school is hosting. One of the tech crew was told to bring the ladder to one place. I sped through the rest of my song and yelled out "THAT IS NOT A LADDER. THAT'S A STEP LADDER" causing the people on the stage to look at me and I explained to them that I just had a preference for step ladders, they're so much more flexible than regular ladders, you know?
I do have a funny one though. That same week one of the tech crew was told to bring a giant "ladder" to the center of the stage so that they could fix something for the play. I quickly object and tell them that that's a step ladder. The tech crew man says
"What are you talking about? That's a ladder! Step ladders are those TINY things"
"No, you're wrong! See, these have steps on them"
"What other kind of ladder IS THERE?"
"... one with rungs?"
"..."
"..."
"...that makes sense"
It was funny because we actually got really angry in this fight and there were several people watching. Afterwards I was told how well I can carry a heated discussion on ladders.
