Okay, so I'm going to cosplay as an Older Ema skye (AJ era)

But here's the problem, I know where I could get a pink collared shirt, but that's about it. Any ideas on where I could get a labcoat, the capris, vest, etc?

Thanks a bunch :maya:

I swear I repeat this like a sutra, lol.

Thrift stores are your best friends! The vest you might have a little trouble with and may end up having to make yourself or look elsewhere for, but the capris and maaaaaybe the labcoat (depends on the thrift store) can be found there. If you can't find the lab coat, check on the internet, you might be able to find some cheap halloween costume labcoat or something. If you're in college/near a college, you can check their bookstore too, a lot of colleges will sell labcoats for the science students.

Good luck!

Definitely check online. My labcoat came from some website which sold them and wasn't any more than like $20. Also, Ebay is my best friend. I got my glasses off there, but it was a bit of a lucky break. If you don't manage to find a pair of pink and white sunglasses, you can always get a normal pair of glasses in the right style and get some glass paint or something and paint the lenses pink. And echoing the thrift store sentiment. Thrift stores seem to work exceptionally well with Phoenix Wright cosplays.

Try ebay- I know NZ's trademe frequently sell labcoats cause they have limited use in practice. Second hand shops will have pink shirts, and the scarf is n/p. My biggest issue was the cost of shoes, contacts, and hair dye when I did her. Her costume is pretty easy to replicate in practice :)

I don't know how much help it would be, but I'd be glad to tell you how I ended up finding / making all of the things for my detective Ema cosplay?

The pink shirt I found at Forever 21, the brown capri's at H&M, and the lab coat from a seller on ebay (just as everyone has suggested). I ended up re-hemming, as well as taking in the sides and sleeves on the lab coat though, since they're usually somewhat bulky and Ema's is rather slim fitting.

The vest I ended up making from scratch since I couldn't find one I liked similar enough to hers. I just bought actual suit fabric at Joann Fabrics, as well as similar buttons and threw it together. The shoes I found at... Sears I believe? But they originally came with a bunch of straps and decorations so I had to cut them off and fix em up.

The neck sash I sewed from extra fabric I had around, the anklets I made, and the glasses I had to enamel paint myself since it's so darn difficult to find white sunglasses with bright pink lenses! D: The watch (and snackoos ;D) were bought. The purse I edited and made from a base at Target. I stitched the pieces together and connected the salmony-pink fabric on.

The most expensive part was probably the wig (item itself, shipping, and cost of materials to style it), so if you plan on using your own hair I'm sure you could save a ton of money there.

I hope that helps somewhat? I'd imagine the most difficult piece to find would be her vest, but if you can at least get ahold of a light colored one similar in style to hers at a thrift store- that dark green is a color of fabric dye Rit sells. So it shouldn't be too difficult to dye a vest you might find. =)

I wish you the best of luck with your Ema cosplay! When you're all finished, make sure to post pictures here for us to see! ~ <3

Okay, so I found a pair of sunglasses, and they are almost perfect.

They're the right shape, and they have slightly pink lenses (you can tell that they're pink, but they're not too overbearing. I don't want to attempt to alter them any further because I run the risk of making it look bad)

but they have little skulls on the arms. Hopefully they'll be hidden by my hair, but they're on the top layer, so if I attempt to color over them, they will show through.

And I'm taking notes on all of your suggestions.

Thanks for all of your help! :sassy:

Lets see..

I got the pink collared shirt at New York & Company, but you can find them most places.
I wasn't able to find a green vest (I need to make one DX) so in a pinch I used a short sleeved green sweater also from New York & Company. If you don't have time this works, but the vest will of course be more accurate... I decided to pull my older Ema out again for A-Kon so I may make the vest if I have time,.

I got the capris from Stein Mart, and I was there Saturday and they still have the same kind of capris, but they aren't cheap (like $15-$25, I forget).

The labcoat I got from a doctor supply/scrubs store.

I already had the shoes but I forget where I found them. I wasn't able to wear them because they caused too much pain on my feet DX

I already had a red scarf, but you can go get some fabric and make that.

I did this a year ago, so you may likely not find the stuff at New York & Company, but you can find pink collared shirts in loads of places. Wal-Mart might have some, Target, and definitely department stores (but again those'll be like $15), and whatever you find at Stein Mart is not on the cheap either. I threw all this together one saturday the week before the con... Not too much time or thought went into it XD

I found the perfect pair of Ema glasses at Forever 21 for $5 a couple of months ago, but they're really more appropriate for younger Ema rather then Older Ema but they'll do. The lenses aren't pink but... I'm not too picky XD You can paint them.

Okay, so I'm back.

I have glasses, the pink shirt, I am ordering the capris, and I have a spray bottle labeled 'Luminol' and I have a test tube to put in my bag. I wanted to buy more but my mom was like "Nuuuuu"

and she's the one paying for all of my schtuff so I can't get too wackooed.

but my grandma's going to make the vest for me.

and I found a labcoat... I just need to order it.

and I have shoes, but I need to hot glue ribbons into them, and I need to make the scarf, but no biggie :phoenix:
