Might as well get straight to the point.

I want to make a wallpaper, but I'll need a specific piece of art to make it work. Since I have no drawing skills to speak of, as well as no artist friends to ask this of, Court Records is probably my best bet.

Here's the thing- it's of a character most of you have never heard of, as well as a very specific art style. ...also, I can be rather picky about artwork. :sadshoe:

BUT! If someone does manage to pull it off, I've got this Maya action figure to offer. (The box is open, but the plastic bag Maya's in is still intact.)

So. Details:
-I need a picture of Miku Hatsune. You can follow the link to Wikipedia for some general background, but I'll give some relevant information and pictures below.
-She must be in a mirrored version of this pose - basically, this pose.
-The picture must be drawn in an identical - or at the very least complementary - art style to the picture linked above. They're going to be next to each other on the wallpaper, you see.
-Speaking of the pose, I do want the facial expression to be different from Phoenix's. If you look at the pictures below, you'll notice that she has a microphone on her headset- I want her to be singing, not shouting. Basically, make sure she's smiling (and still has her mouth open) and you'll be all right. (for an example, see the first fanart link I provided below.)
-It would be nice if you drew as much of the picture as possible, but it's not necessary. I'll be fine with it as long as it goes down as far as Phoenix's picture does.
-If possible, I'd like a transparent (instead of white) background on the image file. Saves time on my end.

I suppose that's it about the picture. Now, about how to draw Miku:
-This picture and this one are the only "official" pieces of Miku art.
-I've uploaded a few of my better pieces of fanart here, here and here.
-Where the fanart differs from the official art, the official art takes precedence, of course. The exceptions I would note would be her face and her hair color.
-Her face tends to differ from artist to artist, so I'm rather used to seeing variations. As long as you're drawing in the Phoenix art style, though, it might be better to not worry about it too much and just model her face after that style, as well. Just a suggestion.
-As you can see from the art above, her hair color changes a lot as well. I'd be happy with any of the colors from this art, or anything greenish-blue, really. As long as I'm talking about her hair, I should note to make sure her hair is, well... thick and poofy, is really the best way I have of saying it. Something like this may be more realistic, but it sure as heck isn't Miku. (...to be honest, that picture isn't that bad, it's just the first example I came across of something that a lot of artists do.)

I think that's about it. Feel free to ask me questions, as I tend to lurk around here quite often.

Ah! One more thing. Many thanks to SlyGuy, who introduced me to Miku on this very board. I'd still be going along, living my life, unaware of what I was missing out on, if it weren't for you. :P

...I suppose it wouldn't be right to end this request without posting a link to one of Miku's songs. Here's my current favorite, Ordinary Days.

I'm guessing you want it in the native art style also, and not a hybrid art style like mine?

If I could draw at all, I'd try, but I can't. So, sorry for the horrible off-topicness of this post, but...

Where do you get that music? :larry: I'm slowly growing an addiction... XD

Again, sorry sorry sorry. :payne:

Before I say anything, I have to say that I love your Time Hollow sig!

Anyways, well, generally I search Youtube or NND for "Miku Hatsune" or "初音ミク". Thing is, though- well, the simplest way to put it is that Miku's a voice synthesizer program to make lyrics for songs, and the quality of the song, like all programs, depends on the skill of the user. Basically, don't let bad songs discourage you- keep searching, and you'll find amazing ones.

That said, here are some of my favorites. I'm providing Youtube and Nico Nico Douga links for each of these... I do highly recommend NND- the quality is comparable to Youtube's HD setting- though you need to register an account. (Here's the first Google result for "make a nnd account".)

Extended-YUKKURI - Youtube - NND
An incredibly uplifting song, and probably my second favorite.

These four are all by MilK tea- anything he makes is good.
Ordinary Days - Youtube - NND
Gravity - Youtube - NND
Ori - Youtube - NND
Brilliant Season - Youtube - NND

Snow Angel - Youtube - NND
A laid-back one, nice to just chill to. (er, no pun intended)

Innocence (Extended Mix) - Youtube - NND
I prefer the original... I've only found it on NND, though.

Unlimited Skies - Youtube - NND
I didn't think much of it when I downloaded it, but this one has really grown on me.

Clear Blue - Youtube - NND
Hm, this one is interesting... I like how upbeat the first two minutes or so of this one is, though I don't really care for the rest of it.

...yeah, I suppose that's enough for now.

Hm. Is your avatar your work? I can't be sure if the art style would mesh with the Phoenix picture I want to use, but it's certainly impressive.

I'd like to see you do a quick sketch, if it's no problem. No point in drawing the whole thing if it's not what I'm looking for.

Another day, another convert to Mikuism. :D

Quite a nice list of songs you got there, Hyarion. I'd never even heard of MilK tea. Just listened to a couple of his songs, and he is as good as you say. Could have sworn I've heard Gravity somewhere before, though.

There's a couple classics that I feel should have been on your list, anyway. I'm not going to bother with NicoDou links, I love NicoDou, but it's late and I'm being lazy and I'm just going to pull these links off of my bookmarks. ;P

Packaged, as far as I remember, is about how Miku's only wish is to make people smile through her singing.

livetune later ended up making an entire album with Miku-chan, called Re:package. The best-known song (besides Packaged itself), and for good reason, is Last Night, Good Night.

While I'm at it, here's the link to Re:package.

And I'm sure you know about Ievan Polkka. If you don't, well, it's basically an in-joke, and... I don't know, go google leekspin or something.

Miku-chan's a person, not a program. Never forget that. ;)

I wanna try this, for fun. But there's a figure involved, and I'm currently collecting those. But sure, I'll give it a shot, Arkillian is bound to win but it's still nice getting these open request threads.

It's ok. My art style doesn't appeal to everyone, nor can I pull off drawing all characters. It happens. This person would want an ACTUAL Manga artist to draw it. Not someone with a dominantly realism style.

I see what you mean now... Looking through the details.

I still want to attempt it though. Just for the sake of... My Xbox 360 just broke and all I have is this PC for now.

I'll make you proud chief! (You don't mind if I call you that Arkillian?)

It'll take getting use to, but if you'd like ^^ I'm use to versions of Arkillian, like Arky and Killy though. I'm fine with anything. Even 'Hey, YOU!'

Hm, I hope that I didn't give the impression that I didn't like your art. I just checked out your art and comic topics here, and I have to say, I like it quite a lot- not to mention you're one of the few who can actually draw a good Edgeworth. :P

But like you said, I am looking for more of a manga style. Thing is, though- heck, I might end up being just as happy with something else.

No- it's fine ^^ I get it alot actually... I drew a bunch of cheap commissions for my last con and all of them sold except my Sailor Moon one. IT's not cause it was a bad drawing or anything, but Sailormoon fans want to see her drawn with large pretty eyes and pretty tones. I've grown to accept that there's just some genres I can't tread in, just like Sailor Moon's artist can't tread in mine. I'm an action, noir, fantasy type artist. I can do pretty, but bishojo is different. I deal ^^

I understand that...D: I can't draw anything more than my style of drawing. It is just that it feels weird...D: and looks ugly if it isn't my style if I drew it. I can accept and admire other people's works though, in that style, oddly enough. And well, this is the reason why no one likes how I tried to draw westernised comic style in my style. Kind of the opposite of you, Arky...(Arky? Am I entitled to call you that? :D)

Oh yea, this is a sketch of how I draw Miku - because I've seen her a number of times and never quite got around to drawing her until you came along. Haha, the reason why I'll post this drawing up here rather than my request thread is because I drew my requests on paper and as my scanner is MIA, I drew this on tablet. So it is rather unlike a pencil sketch, I guess.

Well, I could fill your request...but after I finish uploading the overloaded palate of fanarts awaiting me...D':

Sound like the commission is filled ^^ The sketch looks excellent ^^

(I don't mind what people call me as long as I know they're talking to me :) I get called all sorts of variations of Arkillian. Killy surprises me the odd time XD )

...Hahah, now that's just awesome. Love that sketch.

Hm, at any rate, I think I actually prefer the tablet to pencil 'n' paper for my purposes. The colors and lines come out a lot cleaner than something scanned in, and I'll take any advantage I can get when I'm working with Photoshop.

Honestly, I don't even really care that it's in black and white- it's been awhile since I colorized something but this looks like it would be fun to try.

Hey, no prob. If you're willing to draw another piece in my requested pose, I'm perfectly willing to wait. Heck, I'm not even going to be around a computer for most of June- going to go be a camp counselor.

I mean, really... it's just going to be a wallpaper. :yogi:
