I don't know how Paypal works, so I was not aware of that. I just thought it automatically accepted payments.

I can't speak for the others but in my case, she told me that it would take roughly two weeks for her to make the item and to ship it and that she was going to start within a few days of when I sent payment after she would get all the materials together. But obviously that was not the case.

I tried to open a dispute with PayPal but because I had done so past 45 days from the time of purchase (One of Paypal's rules), nothing came out of it. I should have filed a complaint sooner since she wasn't answering any of my e-mails but I thought I would give her the benefit of the doubt. Of course, now I regret it. However, since there are at least 4 of us who havent received his/her items, we might be able to get PayPal to do something about it.

Always be careful when sending money over the internet. If you're going to buy from someone over a forum, there is no way to guarantee that you're going to get what you paid for. Admittedly for someone just making things out of their home to sell, starting a full business with guarantees simply isn't feasible. However, there are websites that handle this sort of thing that can help protect the buyer's interests. If you're going to order things from the internet, always make sure that there is a legitimate source to help record and handle the transaction.
Otherwise you get situations like this, where the seller may have had good intentions, but ended up being irresponsible and has ended up gypping some of you out of your money. Or worse you may encounter a deliberate scam (it doesn't LOOK like that's what this was, but you never know).
