It's an interview of the GK making group staffs.
The most imporant thing we can learn from the interview is:
Yamazaki's(the director) original plan was moving the stage outside of the court,game players can investigate crime scenes and deduce as a detective,and the main character was supposed to be Ema Skye.However, Eshiro(the producer) vetoed his plan,because at the first sight he read the plan, Edgeworth jumped into his mind.

Have you decided what you will do in the future?
Eshiro:We didn't only make GK as a subsequent story of GS, but also a spin off series.Considering the reaction from the game fans, we will probably make another GK game.

今後の展開についての予定はありますか？

おかげさまで，逆転検事は“逆転裁判シリーズの続編”というだけでなく，“新しい逆転シリーズの柱”として育ちつつあります。今後どのようにファンの方々に受け入れられるかにもよりますが，反響次第では逆転検事の続編を作ることは十分ありえるでしょう。
なんだかんだ言って，制作陣をもっとも強く動かすのは，ユーザーさん達からの声なんです。リクエストが大きければ，それに対して応えてあげたいという気持ちも，当然湧き上がってくると思いますし。

一方，逆転裁判シリーズの続編を期待する人も多いと思いますが，逆転裁判本編の次回作についての動きはあるのでしょうか？

今回の逆転検事のプロデュースは私が担当していますが，逆転裁判シリーズに関しては総合プロデューサーとして松川美苗がいます。逆転裁判シリーズに関しても，松川と連携をとりながら考えていて，「今後も展開していきたいよね」という話はしています。)

By this I mean: Can we expect future installments from both series? Or has the tide shifted completely?

Personally, I'm viewing the exact opposite.
Think about it this way. Turn back the clock: GS4 is in middle-late production. The seeds have already been set in the script for a sequel. *Knock knock* A proposal has reached your door. We want to give Edgeworth his own game. Spin offs in general make less money then main titles. The GS series has a small fan-base (Compared to other Capcom titles). You approve the project, but with the condition that the title cannot be announced until the GS4 hype has died down.
Early 2007 rolls around, and GS4 is a smashing success in terms of sales. Woo! Great. Lets announce GS5, oh, no wait. The west Hasn't received their Godot fix, wait until August, that gives the Japanese 4 months to buy a copy of GS4 before moving their attention to GS3. In May, Capcom's president says that GS5 has been given the green light. This'll be all we hear about Apollo's next game aside from a lot of non-committal answers from the producer.
Okay, August has come and gone, it's the holidays season and time for Capcom Japan to focus on it's big name titles for the holiday season. No Gyakuten Saiban news here.
We arrive in 2008, Febuary comes and we've got this "New Gyakuten Not Saiban" ... 'thing' being promoted. Huh, Wonder what it is.
April 2008: Famitisu announces 'Perfect Prosecutor' for the Nintendo DS.
The GK hype is in full force. With the risk of launching a new title, Capcom can't distract our wallets with a second new title. Every month we get new B's-Log images featuring Edgeworth, we get a second Orchestra Concert, and Phoenix Wright the Musical. The musical is a great success for the trope and there's a second one coming our way. 2008 is an exciting year for the GS Series in Japan, even if we don't actually get a game.
2009 comes and it's 'finally' time for GK. With a release in late May, it's still an excitingly fresh title. It's still new mind you.
Now here's where we get speculating. Lets use the distance between the Japanese release of GS4 and GS3-DS as a sort of gauge, 4 months. It's now late June. GK has been selling for a month now. July, August, September. Late September marks 4 months.
Huh, late September. You know what also happens in late September? Tokyo Game Show.
Capcom is very good at making a spectacle where it counts. I say give us a few months. There's most definitely something going to be announced soon.

Because, like you said, he's made an appearance in every game game in the franchise. He already gets enough spotlight. Giving him his own game is overkill. Besides, he'd probably just shove his major roles and responsibilities on to the other characters. He's best providing moral support from the side lines as well as coming through at the last minute.

Something Gyakuten related will be announced at the TGS; I really doubt GK is Capcom’s final entrant into the series.

Also, he's the only prosecutor we get with the right frame of mind to have a GK based around him. Besides Edgey, obviously.

That is : 'we're considering doing a sequel'. And indeed, it would have been surprising if they only made one GK
Well, I'm still happy to get such wonderful 'non-news'
As regards the two series... I think they will release games for both, alternately.
Something like 2009 : GK; 2011 : GS5; 2013: GK2, etc... (the 'dates' are pure speculation, don't mind them xD)
I believe they'd make a huge mistake if they stopped the GS series now, for GK's sake. Both series can exist at the same time...
And about GS5 being presented at TGS 2009... I'm not sure about that, but that's still a probable theory...

Still, even though Ema is one of my favorite characters, I don't think a game with her as the main character would be such a good idea.
Maybe as a 'bonus' case for the next GK game...
