I figured this would be needed soon, with PWLib's new message base system. So instead of having games in just one language, we can have them in multiple. This thread will be just a general place to post if you speak a second language, and are willing to translate.

So, if your a translator, post here using this template:

Name:
Language(s) Spoken:
Availability:

And if your a game designer:

Name:
Game Developing:
Basic Need: (Post how soon you'd want updates)

--Translators--

Spanish

Name: FaraKay
Availability: Well... Almost all nights until 2:00 AM and... another moemnts of the day?

Name: DeMatador
Availability: Until the beginning of August, all day, every day. Then I'll have to see.

French

Name: FaraKay
Availability: Well... Almost all nights until 2:00 AM and... another moemnts of the day?

Name: NeoKitai
Availability: Most days during vacation, next few weeks it may be only 2-3 hours a day, but I can get with it.

German

Name: Sketchinmaster
Availability: Hmm... of course not all the time, but on some days I have too much time.

Name: .•°٭blinq٭°•.
Availability: Almost everyday until September. After that it depends on my amount of schoolwork, but I'm pretty sure it won't be much.

Dutch

Name: Ninniku-chan
Availability: About every day. But after vacation ends, maybe only one or two hours a day.

Russian

Name: NeoKitai
Availability: Most days during vacation, next few weeks it may be only 2-3 hours a day, but I can get with it.

Portugese

Name: Eduds (Brazillian Portugese)
Availability: About Every Day

(If you speak another language, feel free to apply, I just posted what I figured would be the four most common.)

--Fangames--

Name: Percei
Game Developing: Percei Veritá: Ace Attorney
Basic Need: I'd request that you translate the script on a case by case basis.

Alright, here's where it counts, I updated the first post, and since it's still only one page, I might as well as for your help...

FaraKay, would you be interested in doing a French translation for my fangame?

Blinq, would you be interested in doing a German translation for my fangame?

Ninniku, would you be interested in doing a Dutch translation for my fangame?

Euhm, not to be Mr. Negative here, but why do you need translations in the first place again?

- I'm guessing most people here have played the game in English.
- If not, they still have a rather profound understanding of English nonetheless, seeing as how they frequent this forum.
- So far, no completed fangame has been finished, right? Only a case at most..., so wouldn't this sort of thing be more suitable when everything's done and finished?

for example; You have Dutch on there, The original games were never released in that language.
So those that are offering to translate have played/finished the original game(s) in another language.

Just seems a bit silly to put this much effort on something that's basically not needed. (or a feature to add later on; at best)

Then again, That's just my opinion. :p

There he is! I've found you Mr. Negative, your reign of terror has ended!

Fooling :)

It's not just for people on this site, perhaps, if translated it could be distriubted to areas with that language by a middleman, to people who don't understand that language. And besides, there are likely people who may understand English, but might be more comfortable with their own language.

PWLib gives the option to deliver the game in multiple languages, so it is an optional feature.

You're not obligated to deliver a game on any other language aside from English, but making so is far from silly.

So, be constructive, not destructive on people's ideas. If you see, I play PW because I know English, but what about, say, my parents who don't know? They can't play the original games, but maybe they can play a fangame that provides a version on my home language.
We who lurk on CR know the language, but some of our relatives may not know. We have instances of people who are on CR and barely know English, and may be more comfortable playing in their home language (like Percei said).

And as an end line: I think putting on more languages is a sign of quality, and if you think: why some games are released in "Multi5"? It is not silly.

I played a MULTI11 game once. That was terrible.

But, really. The choice to make it into more languages may bring the AA series to Russia without importing or knowledge of English! I mean, we got 4 or 5 games, 2 considered as a Russian region. And none are AA, only EA, Disney, and some terrible company that made a -censored word- game rated 3+!

Besides, as soon as Beta 1 is done (which may take some time), my game will accept translators! :karma:

I'm in favor of only the texts to be made into multiple languages, not voices.
Voice Localizations have a (HUGE) tendency to be pure fail. I think AA is one of the few examples where the voice localization is fine.

There might also be fangames that are created in non-english first, so knowing who is out there that can translate into the one true language (only kidding!) would be good. This has already happened once you know, and I have seen other fan game communities that produce games predominantly in a language other than english.

PyWright doesn't natively support translations, but the scripts as-is would not be much extra work to do the translations in. This is a feature I would add if there was enough demand as well. (I remember when I had game uploads turned on, and someone uploaded I think a spanish game)

Anyway I think translations are a great idea. Fangames have such a limited reach as it is, anything to extend that reach is great!

AIGE had the feature added a long time ago due to another project I have for it. Messages Bases were meant to make it easy to make the game in "normal" English and "old" English. I even forgot about it been there
Now teamed with the upcoming Unicode Support, and some extra additions to the system, it will serve a higher purpose.
