I actually hated Symphonia at first and then grew to like it after playing a good portion of it in a group and then finishing it on my own. After that though, all of the other entries kind of blur together and I haven't finished any of the other ones I've started.

The second one is slightly old, I think it was inspired/influence by Chrono Trigger/Cross and it was pretty well recieved. Never got it to work though myself.

I think there is a Machinima film type thing about it somewhere.

anachronox is the only good jrpg-style game on the pc

ofc the only other jrpg i know of, excluding ports, on the pc is septerra core which is so abysmal it barely merits mention

As I've been listening to the Shadow Hearts II soundtrack I am going to restate my obsolute love for that game, I think it is fucking awesome. The third one blew but that does not matter. I still think there is life yet in the story of Yuri, even if it is in terms of a brawler, exclude that piss poor strategy game knocking about.

My favorite RPG will always be Pokemon.

Either Pokemon Platinum or Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness would be my top favorite.

Because I am sad, I am adding Radiata Stories again. Just because I got reading the manga and it reminded me how much I love that easy goofy game.

My personal favorites are Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire III, Tales of Symphonia, Final Fantasy VI... and if action/RPGs count, Soulblazer and Illusion of Gaia. In no particular order, of course.

Do yourself a favor and play Vesperia if you can. If only because it's better than Symphonia and it will get you to hate that abortion of a game.

Also, that doesn't mean that Vesperia is good. It's still a Tales game.

Tales of Vesperia is the best Tales game there has ever been. Tales is a dreadful, awful series, so that's a compliment. Too bad Vesperia itself is only okay.

I rented Vesperia a few weeks after it came out. I liked it about as much as Symphonia, but I didn't get exceptionally far. Once I returned it, I wasn't compelled to buy it or borrow it from anyone so it has just remained unbeaten.
