That was actually the hard part. Haha. I usually write neat, so I had to hold my pen really awkwardly. ♥

I started to regret making that once I started writing down all the lyrics to the Steel Samurai theme song. UGGHH. My poor hand.

Question~!

I'm cosplaying Dahlia soon...so I need to make her necklace thingymahbob. I saw someone on the first page had one, but he didn't make it.

Does anyone have...even a reference image (cuz the site's down atm), or some pointers on how to make one?

I made Dahlia's necklace for my Otakon cosplay.
I don't have the best picture of it, but....

I'm holding it. ^
I just used a clear, diamond-shaped bead from Michael's (tinted blue) and a gold heart frame I bought.

CODY HACKINS! :D <33
Your Path to Glory prop was awesome!

And thank you ^_^ I really like the necklace too. I even wore it on Sunday when I decided not to cosplay XDD Now I kind of wish I had gotten a better picture of it though. Oh well.

XD Yeah! trickssi/Mia Fey shot that picture of me. She also got a pic of me handing that mug to her Diego, and him drinking it, fainting, etc. I put the pics up at my LJ if you wanted to see the rest haha. Here.

She has evidence nao. :(

Thanks for the hair key compliment! For something so simple, it was difficult for me, since I'm really not a props girl. Sewing is no problem for me, but give me anything that's not fabric or jewelry and I have all sorts of problems

I'm lucky I made it at all. I really should've set an alarm that day, but I'm glad I made it, it was so much fun!

Hi fellow Ace Attorney cosplayers! I've been a cosplayer for some time now, but like CountlessLenore, I have a feeling I'll be rather helpless when the time comes to make props. I'm currently contemplating whether to go ahead with a Trucy cosplay despite not even having bought Apollo Justice yet; her design appeals to me and, of course, that fabulous hat. So as to not make myself look like a helpless potential-Trucy, I've made myself familiar with this small thread. While I still have a myriad of specific questions to the costume itself, I must remember this is a props thread.

WHICH finally brings me to my original query; KaZzu, CountlessLenore, how did you make your Trucy brooches? I'm very close to saying Sculpey had a role to play in it...

(Sorry for the min-trocuction, anyone, by the way; it's about time I get settled in an Ace Attorney cosplay society. :scientific: )

I used polyester resin for my brooch, since that would make it look more like a jewel. I made a Sculpey model first and from that I made a latex mold and that mold is what I used for the resin. And the silver frame on the outer edge is just foamies.

I make mine out of plastic. The "jewel" itself is a couple pieces of green PVC plastic sheeting shaped together for the diamond, and the silver border is styrene plastic, all on a base of cardboard covered with blue paper. It's very lightweight ^^

I've never actually used sculpey, so I don't know if that's what my heart was made of. But it shouldn't be too difficult to find a heart-shaped necklace thing that would work. ^^

Just be prepared to make modifications. I know the heart I bought came with some stuff in the middle that I had to take out to make room for the bead ("bottle").

By the way, DarkenedWings, are you on the kyodoroki LJ community by any chance? Your user picture looks so familiar; I think I saw you in a cosplay comic of some sort on there (as Apollo). I could be mistaken though.

Hobby Lobby? This actually isn't the first time I've been referred to this place; another friend raved about its marvelous jewelry supplies. I found the website alright, but it looks as if they don't sell from their website? :/ According to their store location service, the closest store is out of state.

If there's a Micheal's near you, sometimes they sell resin stuff. Tap Plastics is supposed to be pretty good too, but I've never bought from there my self http://www.tapplastics.com/shop/product ... 1721369820

Oh hey, I completely forgot I've made two of these >__>;;

What I did was bought a cheap wooden bracelet and built ontop of it with paperclay. I then engraved it with a dremel tool for the design. Alternatively, you can use a toothpick or something to etch the design while the clay is still wet but it comes out a little bit rougher looking.

Optional thing I did on mine is that I cut the bracelet in half and put in magnets so it would rest snug on the wrist like its supposed to :o

The props and cosplay items in here are so impressive *_*

It's minor, but I actually made Ema's cute robot purse from her new design in Investigations. It took a lot of time (probably the longest I spent on any one item for that particular costume XD) but I'm happy with how it ended up, and I still use it as a purse (which... I guess is really kind of dorky but you know).

Ahhh, everyone here is just brilliant! I haven't thought of doing any of these things for props!

I've never actually been to a cosplay convention, though I want to, so I'd just like props to wear or to add to my AA collection. I really want to have Apollo's bracelet, so I think I may try what you did, KaZzu.

I also wouldn't mind having Klavier's necklace. :yuusaku:

Except I have little hands-on ability in making anything. Does that mean hopes for these things are futile?

Oh absolutely! There wasn't anything tricky about making it, it just took a bit of patience and time :)

I bought fabrics that seemed sturdy enough and okay color-wise, in addition to a few cheap plastic file folders. I sort of hand scribbled the patterns on notebook paper, then cut out the side, flap and base-curve pieces from the plastic folders. Then I simply sewed the purse with just the fabric and later slid the plastic reinforcements in. I used the extra tan-pink material to make an inner lining with pockets (for my cell phone and pens, which definitely came in handy!), and sewed that securely into the purse.

I hand embroidered the X pattern where the purse connects to the bag itself because I wasn't sure how to go about doing it on a machine. The "eyes" are enamel painted buttons, the "nose" is a pressed button covered in yellow fabric with the red stripe painted on, and the "mouth" is a decorative plate from a scrapbook collection that I ripped the extra junk off of XD Oh! And it simply closes with a magnetic clip that's hidden behind the "mouth".

And thank you! It does make me feel a bit better about wearing it around every day X3

Brilliant! And cheers, I was close to cheating asking for pointers myself on that lovely bag. XP I'm an enthusiastic Ema fan (hence the name X3), so it's my personal goal to make all her outfits. Oh, and you're a total inspiration! I was looking forward to meeting the fabulous cosplayers on Court Records at Otakon this year, but my young!Ema was nowhere near good enough to meet the light of day or the mentioned cosplayers. Maybe another year, huh? ^_^ Oh well. Thanks for being a wonderful Ema! :scientific:
