While I'm also a hater of the generic RPG cave dungeon with massive amounts of weak enemies, being a child who was raised on platformers made me hate any and all levels where you have to jump from one extremely small platform to the other. It also doesn't help that usually theres no floor and most of the time at this point you're having more problems with either the camera or the shoddy jumping mechanics. I've also hated most first runthroughs of "dream" or "imagination" levels where you are expected to react immediately to anything and everything this game throws at you. Also just about any level in Super Mario Sunshine that is found through some type of warp outside of the main levels.

WATER LEVELS.

Sonic 2 for a start, because I hated that "YOU'RE ABOUT TO DROWN OMG" music, it got me so stressed when I was a kid. D:

Then Zelda, OOT. Stupid friggin' water temple.

I never enjoyed the water levels on Spyro 2 either, they sucked.

... I'm sure there's more, but... god, I bloody hate water levels.

I think if we had a poll for this right now, water levels would take the cake. Perhaps game designers should take a hint.

I'd have to say caves in Pokemon, underwater levels, and pretty much anywhere in Silent Hill (especially basements :beef: )

I am going to add any game where you are being chased and being seen/touched/raped means GAME OVER.

In the same sort of style, 'unbeatable' fights and endurance parts of games IE lots of battles non-stop or just general stupid amount of songs to play/races to beat etc without saving.

Races are not so bad, pause overnight till some goit turns off the game.

I love that one... :larry:

Jabu's belly was the only child dungeon I couldn't complete by myself as a child, but it was fun to play-through.

(Poncho is fucking awesome :D)

I despise above all else (Yes, even water levels), stealth missions. The ONLY game I've ever seen it work properly that isn't based around stealth, is Wind Waker. It sort of worked in Phantom Hourglass but eh.

Hell, I'm stuck at a part where I can't proceed thanks to stealth, in the Yugioh WC2009 game. First you have to get past a bunch of guards once to activate a switch. Then you have to sneak BACK past them which requires precise timing. THEN you have to sneak past MORE guards through a corridor that's double the length (and has twice as many guards) as the last one. All of this while you're wearing uniform meaning you shouldn't HAVE to sneak.

And did I mention that this is in a videogame about a CHILDREN'S CARD GAME?

All underwater levels, much like everyone else here. I think it was the "7 Fathoms" level in Tomb Raider 2 that did that for me. I also hate the caves and forests in the Pokemon games, mainly because Zubats and bug Pokemon don't even give you good experience points.

Spoiler: Resident Evil 5
The Ancient Ruins. Ooooh I hate the Ancient Ruins. How did Chris and Sheva even wind up there? Tribal Majini are just the worst with their spears and spiky shields.

MY SIG. THIS IS IT. HAPPY?

Funny, I don't really hate the underwater levels in Sonic games, unlike most people here. o_o
Anyway, here are some levels and areas I despise.

Sandopolis Act 2 in Sonic & Knuckles. The ghosts were really annoying.

I hated every single daytime level in Sonic Unleashed. A game can't be fun if it's too damn frustrating. :grey:

The Water Temple in OoT has always been a nightmare for me, too. I stayed months trying to complete it.

The 2nd level of Blood (the train station). The large quantity of cultists and lack of health and ammo always makes me die constatly.

Any level in Doom 3 with the Ticks. They're not hard to kill, but they always freaked me out. o_o

E1M1 in the PSX version of Doom. Once again, it's extremely easy, but I particularly hate playing it on Ultra-Violence because of a Pain Elemental placed in one of the secrets. Seriously, I almost had a heart attack the first time I played it. The PC version doesn't have that enemy there, I stumbling upon that freaky one-eyed meat scared me to death.

Final Level of Doom 2. Apart from having demons constatly being spawed, the Icon of Sin *coughcoughjohnromerocoughcough* always freaked me out.

Any level in Duke Nukem 3D (hail to the king, baby!) with a large amount of those little green slime-things. I remember stemping on one without noticing... Not the kind of thing I like to remember. >.<

The End of the World, in Kingdom Hearts. It's one of the reasons I only played through that game once.

The sewers in Quake 4 (ok, they're not exactly sewers. It's that place where the Stroggs "throw away" humans they couldn't transform in soldiers). Another level that is not very difficult, but the zombies make it an experience you can't forget. ._.'

The Aegis building in Max Payne. The guys at Remedy must have been drunk when they decided to put 4 thugs with grenade launchers right in the first floor. :igarashi:

Oh. My. God. I have a fear of deep water- like REALLY DEEP water. And in twilight Princess, for the third boss, you have to jump down a hole wearing your iron boots, and you fall through a small hole filled with water...for at least 3 minutes. And then you face a giant eel that you have to stab in the eye multiple times. I was so scared.
Whoever said nothing was impossible obviously never tried to close a revolving door.
"Suspense msuic plays" Oh crap, SAVESAVESAVE! Oh wait, that's my phone. And the caller ID is... MOM!?
