Considering how much I liked P3 and how much I've always wanted a female protag in a persona game (minus EP), this already sounds like an instant buy.

EDIT: MC isn't the only one to get a gender swap it seems- http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj36 ... 1250578070

I'm a huge Persona fan so I'm really curious as to how this one will fare. Though I'm sad to say that I don't own a PSP so I'll most likely just be reading reviews from people who will have played it by then.

Lol at the gender swaps though. I wonder if the MC be dating men this time? And will the storyline be practically the same? I'm getting the feeling ATLUS made this mainly for the manservice, which I don't mind. <3

Confirmation on the male/female protag front.

Taken from duckroll: "It's a port of Persona 3, with selectable protagonist. There will be certain things unique to the female route, and there will be some new additions to the male route as well. Otherwise it's the same game with various improvements. Apparently there'll be 5 difficulty levels, and like in P4, you can set your party members on manual control. The game is coming out on 1st Nov."

Hype for the game is officially up. I played FES but it sounds like there'll be enough worth buying the game again for.

P3 with direct command? My prayers have been answered~ <3 I'm almost certain with the manservice now. Elizabeth's gender swap had to be done for a reason. That means I should start saving up for a PSP now though. I want to play it so bad... :larry:

Wonder when they'll start making new "upgraded" games for P4 though. They seem to be focusing a lot on P3; first FES, and now this.

True. I think I'll just get Persona 4. From the gameplay I saw: out of that box and into my PS2! :karma: :karma:

So we get to date the males this time or will it be lesbians? I wish they work on a P2 port with both P2s instead of three. Then do three right after they are down with 2.

The answers will probably depress me, but how many of you have actually played a MegaTen game outside of Persona? J/w. I think I've met all of 5 people who've played a MegaTen game that wasn't a spin-off.

Lol, I think players will be allowed to date males with the female route. It's only logical. And that would explain Elizabeth's gender swap too.

Working on one, actually. Though I don't see what's so wrong about not playing anything outside the Persona series. A lot of people that make it sound like such a bad thing. :/

Because people treat Persona as the end-all-be-all of MegaTen, when it's a spin-off. It would be like calling Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles the definitive FF series. Not to mention there are several games that are superior to persona like Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne

Then you don't hang around with enough people, because like everybody I KNOW loves Nocturne. It's the best.

Ahh, so that's why. I guess you can't really blame them since Persona's popularity skyrocketed, and it is a good series, although it is wrong to say that it's the core of MegaTen. As for superiority... I can't comment on that since I haven't actually played Nocturne yet. I've heard good stuff about it though.

But getting right back on topic, I'm a little irked at Orpheus' gender swap. I suppose it's only natural since there'll be a female protagonist, but I dunno... it's kind of weird. They could have assigned a new persona.

According to this link (http://www.gamingunion.net/news/persona ... --331.html) it doesn't look like the lesbien route is likely.

I think it's mostly the FFVII-effect. FF was originally a very low key series but because of something FFVII had, it caught people's attention and was their introduction into the series, instantly giving it nostalgia's sake.

For the record though, I ended up enjoying P3 and P4 more than Nocturne.

Interesting.... I like all of the personas (except 1's horrid localazation, thank good for the for the PSP remake). Might as well pick this one up.

Oh yeah, pertaining to the Megaten question, so far have played... Nocturne, devil summoner 1 & 2, learning how to play soul hackers, Digital devil saga 1 & 2, and Devil survivor. Now I just need much more money to find the rest....

Yeah, I've played Devil Summoner 2 and Devil Survivor, but those are still spin-offs. XD

I was planning on playing Nocturne though. Honestly, from what of seen of trailers and stuff, think I'll still enjoy the Persona games just a bit more. They're light-hearted, unique (not that Nocturne isn't, it DEFINITELY is), the characters are fun and eccentric, the gameplay fun. It makes for an all around addicting game. However, I haven't played Nocturne so I'm certainly not trying to compare the two. And by the way, just because something's a spin-off doesn't mean it has to be automatically worse than the original.

Also, all you non-PSP owners better get one soon for the Persona remake coming out next month.

Oh of course, its just like I said above, no one seems to pay attention to anything but persona. Persona is good, but the other games deserve attention too.

Oh of course. All the games are amazing, and each need individual attention. I think you fail to understand Persona 4 was the latest installment, and possibly the best (of the Persona series), giving the Persona series a lot of attention. If another good SMT game releases, attention will be drawn to that.

...And then when P5 releases, all attention will be drawn back to Persona. XD

That's usually how it works in any series.

How many games in the original series have actually been translated into English besides Nocturne?

Every one to my knowledge has a fan translation. But besides nocturne, none have an official translation.

New opening posted!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MRkM-fM7wg

Wishing for a full version of the song so much right now. It's not Burn My Dread but I love the style of the opening. Plus, it can't help but make me think P3P may have a different ending than the original, or at least the option...

Spoiler: Persona 3
In the opening, the words they flash still have "Memori Mori" but they also have "Butterfly Effect" and at the very end is "To live is...to change. To Choose something new". The latter feels more like a reference to the choice between hero or heroine but "Butterfly Effect" really caught my eye. Plus, P3P will not have Answer so it feels like if they were to change the ending or have a solution to change fate (maybe Elizabeth's solution, considering what Margaret said in P4?) now would be the place to put it. And, I still think it's interesting that out of all the characters it's only Elizabeth who got a different counterpart, based on the opening.

The main downside I see to this is, aside from the theory of the Butterfly effect being that if you change the future something worse replaces it, it defeats the point of P3. I loved P3 and while the ending depressed me it just felt right, like that was the way it had to end. How they would change it and make it believable makes me skeptical.

Look like Aigis is still Aigis.

The opening make me fell like you have to flip the psp upside down to play as the female. It be nice everyone had gotten a sex change and the game would come with two UMDs.

DEFINITELY getting this game. I completed P4 a month ago and I absolutely loved it. I've been looking all over the place for P3FES (they had it at Fry's a few months ago, but that was before I got into this stuff) and it's gone D:
I really wanna play both versions... cuz I played to a certain point at my friend's house and I don't wanna lose all my data and start over ;-;
I'm thinking of getting Devil Survivor too. My friends say it's pretty good 8D

I'm a little skeptic on the play style since you can freely run through the maps when your not in the dungeon. I could live with it but why did they have to change the soundtrack?! It was perfect really and from what I heard of the new soundtrack it isnt all that great, at least compared to 3's. Granted I only saw gameplay as the female, so Maybe if you play as the Male it has the same music of 3 and when you play as the girl she has her own set of music. It would make some sense, different sex, different taste in music to a degree.

I'm just thinking of how the game storytelling would change.

Introduction to Aigis would be different.

The hot springs scene would have to be changed.

Plus as a male you had the option to date Aigis, Mitsuru, Fuuka, and Yukari (and that's just party members).

As a female your only feasable option would be Akihiko (Junpei is taken).

But it's these changes that make me want to buy this game. (Square enix take notice, this is how you re-release a game.)

Maybe they were planning on having Protag x Akihiko as the canon pairing? Or maybe they'd change that thing about Junpei? Though I highly doubt it... it'll mess a lot with how he grows. Maybe he'll become date-able after that one particular incident? But yeah, they'll have to change quite a number of scenes in the game. Which makes it more worthwhile to get it.

I'm wondering though, since Orpheus gets a gender change... what would Messiah look like? :eh?:

I doubt Messiah would get a gender change. If the male protagonist can use female personas (queen meb, pixie, titania, etc.) then the female protagonist will use male personas (other than Eurudyce/Orpheus in drag)

I just watched a new trailer for this.

Based on it, a feature or two from persona 4 will be implemented. Mainly the battle support with the other characters. In the trailer I saw the female protagonist do a combo attack with Mitsuru, and later was pushed out of the way of an attack.

Makes one wonder if the full party will have social links.

I made the mistake of getting a PSP at the beggining of it's life. Between Jeanne de Arc, SSX on Tour, Lumines, and now Persona 1 my PSP has not seen much action.

But this game is a day one buy for me.
