My favorite kind of DS game is one with a good storyline.
The ones I have are:
The World Ends with You
Phoenix Wright
Hotel Dusk
Trauma Center

Any others?

-EDIT-
I tried Time Hollow and it was good.. but short.
I also tried Prof. Layton and now I'm waiting for Time Travel.

Trace Memory and Time Hollow, although they're both really short

Well, these have all already been suggested, but just to reinforce:

- Time Hollow (A lot of people don't care for it, but it is one of my fav. games of all time. >.< T'is short.)
- Professor Layton (though the awesome storyline sometimes is interrupted by unrelated puzzles)
- Hotel Dusk: Room 215 (has awesome art too and makes you hold your DS like a book, which I thought was unique)
- Trace Memory (Shooort but enjoyable~)

You might also want to browse the "Is ______ any good?" thread, to get more reccommendations and see what people have to say about them. ^_^

Yeah pokemon, while a fun game, is not the best on good storylines. It's just Evil guy and his henchmen stirring up troble while young kid tries to take on the elite four+champion. Same story for each game.

:holdit:

Ok, I agree with Pokèmon, but...maybe I'm the only in this forum that I really liked the Final Fantasy III story :zenitora: !

Finally the four protagonists have got a really "ego" (in the original version are only 4 simple warriors of light), and...there is the couple "Arc-Prince Alus" :gant: !

Wait....
Final Fantasy III had a storyline?!
I never noticed lol
None of the characters had any personality :D
Now, Final Fantasy IV,V,VI and VII are amazing games. (I honestly like VI more then VII) *Gets brutally lynched for stating that in public*
Final Fantasy X is great for a game made 8 years ago (you have to get the European version if you want to fight the Dark Aeons, which was the best (and most hellish) part for me)
And Dissidia is verry nice.

And Pokemon has a decent story. All of the games have the same concept, but there are at least distractions that you can partake in (missingno.!!!)

And as I stated, Fire Emblem is the most storyline involved game I've ever played. (Except Phoenix Wright... but thats a duh lol)

Not really. I said that Final Fantasy III had a bad storyline and that Pokemon had a decent one :)
And let's face it, III's story was pretty much nonexistant.

Now a game with a good storyline FIRE EMBLEM!!!

And Final Fantasy IV had a good story.

I know that FF III haven't got a real story line, and I understand when there are other, really good story (like, that you say) the Final Fantasy from IV to IX (but I didn't really liked the VIII :/ )! ;)

Well, I can forgive III just on the basis that it was Square's first game for the DS, and that they made IV for the DS.

Fix'd.

I agree with Castlevania. While not extremely plot-heavy, it does actually contribute to the game in a positive manner. I think it makes the game much more fun than it would be otherwise.

The only Pokemon games that I feel had a decent story were Red/Blue/Yellow and G/S/C because they were unique at the time. The newer ones just use rehashed plots of R/B/Y. I stick with my choice that G/S/C had a decent story because it was a continuation of the story given in R/B/Y. Granted it's not deep like other games you'll find, but I like it like that. I tend to enjoy games with simplistic stories compared to those where they give you overcontrived plots to where you eventually get so lost that you have no idea what's going on and the story ends up creating a huge plot hole of itself.

It's not exactly DS but you can play it on DS.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones for GBA

It outclasses Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (the only FE game on DS to my knowledge) by far.

Also yes to Castlevania....plus the DS ones are goooood.

An yea Chrono Trigger, FFIV, MAYBE FFTA2. I liked the story in that but recently in the Is _______ any good? thread somebody said the story sucked so...get a third opinion I recommend.

Oooh also Advance Wars: Dark Conflict (Days of Ruin)

An unusual take on a bright and colourful series. Personally the change was kinda...meh to me but I can't deny the story is smokin.

Oh I have one.

New Super Mario Bros, in it you have to rescue Peach who has been kidnapped by Bowser!

I kid. I kid.

But not nessecarily for the story, but for great writing definently check out the Mario RPGs. Especially the first and third one.

Only get FFTA2 for the gameplay. It's fun to play, but the storyline is absolute crap.

Thats kitase for you =/

While I'm looking forward to XIII, it's probably the RPG I care about least for next year. Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, Dragon Quest IX, Final Fantasy Gaiden: 4 warriors of light all interest me more.

Speaking of, a game with a great storyline - Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor. If you liked the urban japanese style of TWEWY, you'll like the setting of DS. Except this time with crazy demons and apocalyptic shit going on.

I think Aria of Sorrow was the best Castlevania but granted I've not played many, nor have I tried the original Fire Emblem for GBA...I assumed the original was Marth's story.

Agreed. The other US released one, just Fire Emblem, is good too.
FE:SD is based off a reaally old game, so its storyline is pretty bad in comparison to the other FE jewels...
Not to mention the new battle animations hurt my eyes. What's wrong with some 2d every once in a while? ):

I know FE:SS was so...stylish with the swoosh of the swordmaster's critical and the satisfaction of the Hero's fluid attacks plus the designs for the characters were beautiful too (I love Joshua) but then I got to the horrible SD ones where your forces are barely distinguishable from the enemy's.

I did like the class system more in FE:SS.
FE:SD just pissed me off. They took away the anime. And the graphics game me a headache.
A good fire emblen would be sealed sword. US release now, nintendo!

Plain ol' fire emblem was the best cuz I liked the characters more.
Nergal was amazing.

Magical Starsign has a good storyline. People dismiss it as a beginner's RPG but it has an extremely deep story.

I loved Pokemon XD and Pokemon Platinum's storylines (I nearly cried at the end of XD).

ahahaha. and the recruiting rate was so freaking low for them!
But a game that I forgot to mention:
The Tales games have generally good storylines. The game that is playable on the DS was not originally for the DS per se, it was for the GBA. It was called Tales Of Symphonia.
Also, it may have been proven that Final Fantasy VI was better then VII, but VII has a bigger fan base (because of Sephiroth) (apparently he's as "cute as Edward" [from twilight]).
Ugh... Fangirls are so freaking obnoxious.
And they keep continuing VII. Advent Children, Before Crisis, and Crisis Core.

Symponia was GBA? I thought it was Gamecube, with an expanded version for the PS2, but that was Japan-exclusive. Then again, I only played the second Symphonia, so what would I know...
I also liked Abyss' storyline better since no one was just there and the protagonist gets a hella lot of development, but that's for PS2.

Professor Layton's been mentioned, but again, solidifying it. You can skip some puzzles, yet others are required (for story-progress of Picarat/points requirement). You can work on your own pace but if you skip too much you may regret it.

PKMN: Mystery Dungeon games were good with their storylines--in a sense cheesy, but still is moving. The gameplay reminded me too much of Chocobo's Dungeon though.

Uhm... Tales of Symphonia isn't for DS or GBA or anything. Tales of Phantasia has a port for the GBA (and PSP, but it's japanese-only, I think). I got it, but haven't gotten that far... The story is okay, but I hate the fighting system. Argggghhhhh!!! T_T It's just button mashing, but it's really hard and there's no strategy and stuff and healing is so difficult!!!!

...Tales of Symphonia is for Gamecube, and the prequel (by 4000 years) for Tales of Phantasia. The first... 95% is really good, but the plot really falls apart at the very end. (Basically, they change the plot and what you have to do EVERY FIVE SECONDS.) But it's still totally worth it xD It's the same type of fighting system as Tales of Phantasia, but it's good! :D It's a little difficult in the beginning, but after that it's a nice difficultly. (Not easy like Chrono Trigger, but a good difficulty :3) I had to grind twice during the story, though, which was pretty boring. (But I guess it's better than Final Fantasy IV. I've had to grind 3 times, and I've only faced 2 bosses!)

Spoiler: Tales of Symphonia
Also, killing Zelos was sooooooooooooooo enjoyable :3
