Forumer Franzise Deauxnim provided us with a scan of the newest Nintendo Power, which features an article on AAI revealing some English names. Interpol investigator Shiryuu Rou has been confirmed as "Shi-Long Lang," which is actually just the Chinese reading of the kanji in his Japanese name. If you're curious as to how that's pronounced, angeltsubasa offered us this link.

From screenshots we can also see that Zinc's last name is Lablanc (probably to avoid any connection to "Redd White") and Ichiru's is Teneiro. It appears they've left "Yatagarasu" as is.

EDIT: If you're looking for TGS news, check out this thread where xfactor provided us with the latest press release and some new screenshots that reveal Shiina's localized name as "Shih-na" and also show off Lang's take on the objection bubble.

I don't really know but I think I prefer Shiryuu than Shi-Long Lang... But Leblanc for Zinc White is a good name in my opinion!

So they avoided connections with Redd White, but is the alternative any better?

I don't like Rou's name, but, according to those lines of text, it seems they kept his attitude very close to his image.
If he's like that most of the time, I won't mind the name.

Just... Having "Lang" there is akward. I almost read it as "Lana".

Weird they didn't give Shiina's localized name out. It's probably Sheena, seeing how they kept Yatagarasu, and Rou's name is the same, just read in another language.

Hey, I'm cleaning the pic a bit... And it seems Zinc's last name isn't "Leblanc", but "Lablanc"... Anyone?

Can anybody tell me if this is this is the September, October, or November issue? I want to call Borders and see if they have it in stock, but they might ask what "the latest issue" is. Thanks! ^^

It's made up? I thought it was a Japanese region closer to China culturally/Chinese region. Seihou, was it? Or something like that.

Really? This proves that sometime I must shut my mouth :yogi: .

I thought that it was american because the characters "changed origings" (in the japanese version "Gyakuten Saiban", Diego is born in Japan if I'm not wrong, and in the normal versione "Ace Attorney" is got american latin origins...sorry for my english again :payne: )

If it bothers you that much, you can imagine this Leblanc instead. (somewhat NSFW)

Meh. I'm okay with the name now....

Yatagarasu probably did change, but Nintendo Power doesn't know what it is...

Okay sorry, couldn't resist! XD

But seriously...... This is a really weird name for a person. But I suppose that's what makes it unique for the made up country he originates from. ;)

Not to mention the name sort of gives off a Dragon/Wolf vibe appearance to it. :)

I don't know why they would mention it if that wasn't in the version they got to play/in their press kit or whatever. It's an American magazine reporting on the American version.

There's an explanation for Yatagarasu in the Japanese script already, so they won't miss out on much. Also, Wikipedia.

Hmm... Shi-Long Lang... Well, it wouldn't be the first name I would have gone with... but hey it could have been worse I guess. I'll just have to get used to it.

What i meant was that a bunch of people thought the series was gonna fail when they got aj instead of phoenix.
But AJ got some of the lowest ratings of the games in NP and other reviews.

Who gives a damn about ratings and reviews? They're just people's opinions. The fact is when it comes to this series of games the "fans" seem to be afraid of ANY form of change. Quite frankly I think these people need to grow a pair and grow up.

AJ sold a LOT more than the first three games in Japan, and the last time I looked was still ahead of Kenji, which features the most popular character in the franchise. It also scored better in Famitsu than the first three (though now I can't remember what Kenji got...)
