The last 15 minutes were completely unnecessary. The film came to a logical conclusion when the kid found the Blue Fairy. A downer, yes, but the film was over.
The audience stood up at that point, only to be greeted with the narrator saying "...for two thousand years". Everyone groans and sits down.
Then we're "treated" to cinematic diabetes.
