As for myself, I also admit that some pictures of them together are cute, as well as the other pairings I don't support. But I'll never accept them as a couple, because that just doesn't make sense. I can't understand why are so many fans thinks that every awesome male character is gay by default?
Our world is full of various types of human relationships, otherwise than romantic. AA shows us so many of this types, and that's the one of the reasons why I love this games so much.
Even I'm a freakin' huge Edgeworth's fan, I think I better leave this thread now, before I'd be eaten by someone. xD

One thing about him is that he's gone through so much and in the games we get to see how that impacts upon him now, particularly in terms with how he is emotionally and how he goes about connecting to people. One of the primary reasons I ship P/E (before any of the cute aesthetic ones) is that I see Phoenix as being one of the few people he's "let in" so to speak and can trust with intimacy. And Phoenix has repeatedly proven to him that he's not going to give up on him.
(And ftr, while I adore yaoi, I'm NOT one of those "slash everyone" fangirls; I can accept that in canon there is generally basis for a lot of characters to be heterosexual and I'm happy with that [albeit not overly interested in it]-- but this series is kind of... well, there's more subtext here than you'd find in an exclusive all-boys Catholic boarding school.

Haha. XD You and I are SO similar in that way. I've enjoyed anime and video games for many years, and I adore yaoi myself. But I don't feel the need to "OMG SLASH" everyone in everything that I watch/play/read. Really, the only series that I've slashed people in are Ace Attorney and Xenosaga. And maybe a few other ones here and there.

True, I enjoy slash and yaoi, but I don't think that "every awesome male character is gay" by any means. There are just certain aspects to Edgeworth's personality that lead me to believe that he's either gay, or asexual.

Ace Attorney is also my only fandom where I enjoy the yaoi pairings. I think it's kind of disingenuous to stereotype all fans into thinking one way. Considering that Yaoi con is held in a hotel and not a convention center, I'd say yaoi fans in general are in the minority. We're just pretty vocal about it.
I think it's easy to see how gay Edgeworth can be. It might be interesting to see what about him other people think is straight.

It doesn't make sense to me because I believe, that if Edgeworth were really gay, then this would be somehow had mentioned in the games, because the games reveals the personalities of the characters pretty deeply. And I see his relationship with Phoenix (or anybody else) just in other way.

Well yeah, it's disingenuous to stereotype people into anything. But that's how it really looks like from the side. Almost every character has his own little yaoi fandom, and I'm talking not only about Ace Attorney, so how it can be explained otherwise?
And it doesn't look like yaoi fans are in the minority, this thread is good example of it. The biggest half or it is all about how gay Edgeworth is. It just annoys me a little, especially given the fact that thread about his gayness is already exists, sorry for that.

That statement does have some merit. A lot of the content on this thread is about Edgeworth's yaoi fandoms, while the thread's original purpose was to discuss how awesome he is. For me, he is awesome just the way he is. I don't care much about his sexuality, I just think that he IS sexy.
This basis are only proves that they have close relations, which are somewhere between friendship, gratitude and rivalry, but you can't actually say that this relationships are romantic or not.

Because "everybody is straight by default" thing is natural for humans. That how it works in real life, you'd never notice the you are homosexual, before realizing the fact, that you like someone who is the same gender as you.
When we talk about character relationships it is pretty relevant. But yes, we can't be sure about it. *points up to the mainframe's quote*

I totally agree with this. Does it HAVE to be mentioned in the game for him to be gay? I don't think it does. What he prefers in the bedroom doesn't have anything to do with how he does his job as a prosecutor, so they don't need to mention it in the game.
...plus, it makes it more fun for everyone that way. ^_^

I beg to differ on that. I'm not homosexual myself, but I believe that a lot of people who are gay know that they are from birth. It's not like they're straight one day and then all of a sudden are gay the next. It doesn't quite work like that.

Not really, most of people realizes their true sexuality only after some experience in relationships, or at least upon reaching the sexually mature age. Those who somehow knew this from birth are in absolute minority.
