So. Who's familiar with this survival guide show from the Discovery Channel? Anybody here think that what they see on the show will actually be useful in real life, if ever for some reason they do end up getting stranded somewhere with not map or any other means to get rescued right away?

Me, I think Bear's tips are useful. I doubt I'd get lost in a forest or stranded on a mountaintop region any time soon, but meh, it's good to be prepared, I guess. However I'm not sure I want to try out his "eat this stuff, it's got lots of calories, vitamins, blah blah..." and then chews on maggots or something.

I think the show's interesting and entertaining, but hey, let's face it, the likelihood that we'd be in one of those situations is unlikely.

Did you see the episode where he had to drink his own urine? And then he put it in a snakeskin or something, and hung it around his neck. I think it was the same episode where he got stung near the eye by a bee.
