Well, the Ace Attorney fanbase should do its Investigations too, shouldn't it?

It's called living up to a name! XD

Thought it's not a mistake per se, its basically an omissible piece of dialogue. I don't even consider it a contradiction, it was probably a clumsy officer (read: Gumshoe) who didn't bother to order the files properly in the first place. And it wouldn't have mattered if it weren't for the
Spoiler: Just in case
bullet hole
. I don't think they would have focused on the files' order while investigating a crime scene, if it weren't for that.
Again, just omissible.

So, finished the demo (although it feels like it is kinda short D: ) and I really really like it so far. ^_^

Also, there was one "Ohhh!" moment for me in the demo:
Spoiler:
At the point where you had to point out the major flaw in Jacque's testimony, I was thinking something totally different than Edgeworth did.
I was thinking why did the victim write Gumshoe's name upside down on the files and in what position was Mr.Faith (either sitting or lying) when he wrote the name on there?
Turns out that it was something else but can't remember what Miles' theory was. Well, my answer wasn't right but I didn't get a penalty because I presented the right evidence at the right statement.... Good times :]

Spoiler: Rebuttal
I didn't quite see Gumshoe's name upside down as a contradiction. If you sit down, and then slump over on your side, it would actually be easier to write upside-down then right side up, particularly since he wrote on the bottom shelf as opposed to one of the higher ones.

What I was actually surprised at was that there was no, "OMG what could these blood letters be spelling out?". I was quite pleased that the characters could all read upside down sufficiently.

Spoiler: Now here's my Contradiction
You get to the crime scene and all the books are on the floor. Edgeworth takes the books and puts them back on the shelf. Everyone comes to the conclusion that because the bullet hole was on the wrong shelf that the killer put the books back in the wrong order.

Hello? Didn't Edgeworth just put the books in their wrong place?

It's been a couple days since I played the demo so my memory is a little fuzzy, but...

Spoiler: Is that a contradiction?
When Edgeworth put the books back, he did so in the correct order, finding the incorrect position of the bullet hole.

I'm pretty sure it is stated that the killer had first taken out all the books, then put them back on the incorrect shelves before killing the victim. Then he presumably wrote the message and took the books out again.

You're right, there is no contradiction at all.

Spoiler:
Edgeworth
You Don't see? Quite simply,
the bullet hole itself is too
low.
If the victim was shot in the
stomach, the hole should be
much higher up.

Gumshoe
Then that means...!
.............Wait, what does
that mean, sir?

Edgeworth
...Try using your own brain
every once in a while,
Detective.
I believe the order of the
files is a bit off.
The killer must have arranged
them in the wrong order. Let's
re-arrange the files correctly.

Gumshoe
Hey, now let's try propping
the body back up to how it
was before it was moved!

Edgeworth
As I suspected...
The bullet hole is now where
It should logically be.
The killer went through my
files first before shooting
Mr. Faith.

Gumshoe
And then put the files back in
numerical order, I guess.

Edgeworth
Exactly.
And then proceeded to shoot
the victim.

(Now the crime scene is as it
was at the time of the murder
Time to give it another look.)

Numerical order =/= Edgeworth's initial order

Maybe Edgeworth arranges his files with the most earthquake proof at the top, so less will fall if there is an earthquake.

Yup, Looby told me about this over MSN soon after it was released. Very awesome in every way, I have to say. Can't wait until February.

Name: ??
Gender??
Why was he killed in my office?

^That made me laugh. Victim's gender unknown, despite it already calling him a "he" in the description, and having a very obviously male profile photo and corpse. I think this happened in a different game, too. Possibly Oldbag in AA? I'm sure it said somewhere in an earlier game that someone's gender was unknown, despite it being obvious.

Spoiler: Contradiction
And no, there's no contradiction with the files. Edgeworth put them back in the correct order, that is to say, Edgeworth's original order. But Gumshoe says that the killer put the files back in Numerical order, which is not the same as Edgeworth's order. The killer did that once before the shooting, hence the bullet hole ended up in the wrong place. The hole was made in numerical order, and first observed in Edgeworth's order. Then the killer had to mess up the files again for the bloody writing and what he needed and such. Kinda confusing at first, but yeah.

Overall I found this to be very easy, having made no mistakes, but I know it'll get harder. Really looking forward to it. Awesome soundtrack, characters, gameplay, everthing. Woo.

Dammit! The game's crashing on me all the friggin' time! First it was on gamespot's, soon as Portsman arrives, next try it was when you move the body. Then I moved to the Facebook application, which crashed twice too: first time while examining the body for the first time, second when Gumshoe asked to rest on the couch, right on the very beginning of the investigation. Trying on the official site now :\

EDIT: Okay, now the game crashed after examining the files piled on the ground, again, right at the beginning. Dammit, I wanna play it! D: I'll try on a different navigator, maybe the problem's with Google Chrome?

It's really starting to look like the only way to play it is to use IE (i had no problems with it).

I played it right through 6 times with Firefox (3.5.5), no problems at all. Hasn't crashed once. Tried it from every source. No issues at all. I played it so many times because I wanted to try presenting everything to everyone, and I know I missed some other text by not backing out of the crime scenes after Portsman comes in. That and I also wanted to see what happens when you lose at each stage.

I'm actually surprised to hear a lot of people are having trouble with the demo crashing; it went from start to finish with no issues for me?

It did feel a bit shorter this time compared to when I played through the Japanese demo, but then I realized that's probably due to the language barrier and having to flip back and forth from the game to a notepad file with the translated dialogue in it xD

I really enjoyed it though. Walking around is a lot more fun than I thought it'd be :) And everybody's sprites look so good in 3/4th's view ~

Spoiler: Testimonies
I didn't really have a hard time with it. Each part of a testimony can usually be divided into Fact and Opinion. Opinions generally hold the contradiction.

Ergo...

There were plates on the table
Fact

There is Caviar on the Floor
Fact.

Gumshoe must have dropped it.
Opinion.

Gumshoe is getting a pay cut.
Fact.

Key words to look for are If, Could, and Must.

My only complaint is that I miss being able to tap an object and examine it instantly. Having to move Edgeworth will take some getting used to.

Not enough attention to the glorious gumshoe in this thread. The constant talk about his low salary is always welcome but the best part was easily at the start when the whole explanation about investigating and finding evidence etc.

Spoiler:
Edgeworth: If you think about it carefully and use logic, it should become clear to you.

Yep and it also was clear in 3-1, only 4-1 left you in the dark.
