While we're playing online, whether it's through Xbox live or an MMORPG, we encounter a few n00bs. In this thread, we discuss our encounters with these most fascinating creatures.

While playing the MMORPG Aion, I was invited to join a group (of 4 mages, 2 of which are healers) to serve as a tank while they attack the Black Claw Outpost. I overheard one of them bragging they could take one of them alone (which is quite an accomplishment at level 17). Also, they said they tried this before but the person who was serving as their tank was "a retard". One of them died and they blamed 'n' flamed me! If I hadn't blocked them I'd have a few things to say.

For the sake of not having to explain, I'm just going to say these particular creations were sprite edits, so we all understand what I'm talking about. Every time a nice new sprite was posted in the showoff thread this new member would go and outright copy it, compleatly oblivios to the fact that she was copying someone elses art. People get angry at her and she, leaves the forum, because of repeat offence to this. Joines another related forum sometime later, and then attemps to do it again. She then goes and sks to use a sprite from soneone I belive she copied off before, just a little naive and young I think. But most definetly a n00b.

But it wasn't just a personal encounter, many people amoung this group know this persons name.

It's a forum about gaming, so I didn't think there was a problem. But sorry anyway.

I have a real life encounter, actually, but it has to do with games, so I'll mention it anyway.

I was in this game store, looking at DS games, and the Xbox games are next to them. Anyway, these 14-15 yr olds came in, and they were looking at the Xbox games. They picked one up, and they were looking at the ratings on it. The game they picked up had a Mature rating, as well as a R-16 rating, and they stood there talking about how it was "full of fail" and how one of them was going to take a picture of it and put it on the internet. I just stood there, eavesdropping on the conversation, and almost went up to them and told them how nub they sounded and to reserve the internet talk for the internet.

It's people like them who give decent nerds like me a bad name.

Iv'e encountered several n00bs on brawl, to name a few.

Spamachu's
I'm sure youv'e all had one once. A pikachu that spams thunder, over and over, then spams electric jolt, over and over...god it gets boring...and I can only ever win if I spam din's fire with zelda. They think theyr'e good because they win otherwise, but theyr'e just spammy.

Retard Lucas
I'M NOT SAYING LUCAS IS A RETARD. anyway, there was this player on team matches playing as Lucas on wifi, and he was awful. and by awful, i mean worse than I was when i started playing melee. (my first smash game) He kept SD'ing because he chose a bad character for beginers on wifi, one that cannot recover well. It looked like he didn't know what buttons did what moves. I was on his side and an opponent fox was under my jigglypuffs sleeping spell, ready for him to bat. What does he do? PK freeze. Yeah, real helpful.
Train up before going on wifi otherwise you'll annoy people like me.

I once fought a Rachel on Blazblue's online that did nothing but poke and use silpheed (Wind attack that moves her and everything else in one direction.)

I'm not entirely sure if this counts as a n00b encounter or just bad parenting but here's my story.

One day my brother and I were visiting Blockbuster looking for something to rent, when a 6-8 year old near me started jumping up and down excited holding a videogame he found.

He found me and tugged on my coat.

Kid: Hey Mist'ah. Do you know why this game is so hard for me?

I peered at the game while he was talking. I don't remember the title, but I do remember it had an ESRB rating of 'M' (Ages 17+ for our European Friends), and had a few items listed like use of Alcohol, Gore, Sexual Content.

I neutrally replied: Because it's meant for kids at least twice your age?

The kid looked a little confused at my wording, but didn't stop.

Kid: No, because it has explosions and shooting and blood and stuff.

Me & my Brother: ...

Some time later I found his mom and asked her if she had any idea what was in that game she was renting for him. She didn't vocalize a response but her glare at me said "How dare you inject upon my parenting." And walked away in a huff.

bad parenting at its highest point.

There are a few moments I've had on Halo 3.

One moment (when my mic didn't work), we had some jackass who started betraying for no real reason. Seriously. He just randomly started to shoot us.

The other moment I had when most of the guys in the game were at most sergeants (barring me, being a Lieutenant, and one Captain or higher). Naturally, the highest ranking guy just had to say "why does everyone here suck?" The pure irony in that statement showed when he both lost the game, and died the most. And he was still bragging that he was the best. I even told him, "You have lost the right to brag because you lost the match!"

His response? "Fuck you, I got more kills than anyone!" Nobody pointed out that he died the most.

I hate it when people go on Youtube and ask how to catch a certain Pokemon when they can just go to Bulbapedia or something like that and look it up there.

I've done some Wi-fi Pokemon battling before, I get frustrated when n00bs use ubers. I can still defeat them, but they're still groan-inducing and very annoying.

I was on Sudden death on brawl, I was zelda and he was link. He drew back an arrow, then shot. I jumped to avoid, then din fire'd his ass.
I LOVE ZELDA IN SD.
Anyway, why didn't he try to avoid it, or use another move? An arrow is obviously not gonna kill you on New Pork city...

Oh, so it's no issue if we point out how almost every post in this thread complaining on how well other people play a video game is immensely hypocritical? Like GigaHand for a prime example; He was supposed to be tanking for a group and someone died, correct? I guess he didn't realize what a tank's purpose was; To keep threat so that the target only attacks HIM. If SOMEONE ELSE died, then it IS his fault because he wasn't able to keep threat.

Honestly, most of the complaining I've seen in this thread are from people who are "noobs" themselves.

the topic is about complaining get over it.

On dead Frontier I joined up with this guy on multilayer so we would have a better chance to complete a mission that we were doing.
He had a decent enough EXP level as well.
But anyway I tell him to cover me while I go and check the map and what does he do? he shoots me and kills me.
I lost all of my health and money because of that bastard and if I ever find him again......
Nothing.

I don't have all day to go into detail with every single individual. Just things like calling someone a "noob" for playing Rachel in BlazBlue properly or a six year old kid not being able to grasp a Mature rated game stand out like a sore thumb after it's been amputated from the hand and tossed in on a bare table getting blood everywhere. :uramidn:

ok, you gave a general definition for a tank. games are not the same, and even if every single attack is drawn to the tank, it cannot prevent stupidity or accident on some mage's part. correct me if i'm wrong, but it seems that you can't accurately place blame solely based on gigahand's description.

Except I can, because I know which mob he's talking about, and he said the guy was level 17. If he was actually tanking, then the only way someone could get killed is if Gigahand disconnected from the game. Or, you know, was a very bad tank. :keiko:

Rachel and Arakune, and Litchi and Carl to a point, are meant to control their environments to be played correctly. If someone is playing as Rachel and they're NOT placing lightning rods, keeping her afloat, keeping the opponent between the rods, and using her Drive to electrocute them, then they are not playing her properly. Complaining about someone "just spamming wind and lightning" with Rachel is someone who doesn't know how to play as her.

He never implied that the person who said he could solo the mob was the same person who died. And, even if they were the same person, tackling a mob as a team and tackling a mob by yourself are approached completely differently. When in a team, you're assuming everyone is playing their part.

so you're saying the circumstances were completely dependent on gigahand, and no matter how stupid the mage was, he couldn't die?

When the old DS first came out I started to fiddle around with it (Not sexually, god get your mind out of the drain)
So anyways I went on to pictochat (I was in a resteraunt at this time FYI)
And there was already someone in a chatroom when I went into it so I opened it up to say hello.
Anyway after I had introduced myself I said.
"Wow your the first person i've ever spoken to on pictochat LOL"
She said
"What does LOL mean?"
I didnt respond.
Nothing.

And there was already someone in a chatroom when I went into it so I opened it up to say hello.
Anyway after I had introduced myself I said.
"Wow your the first person i've ever spoken to on pictochat LOL"
She said
"What does LOL mean?"
I didnt respond.

I have a friend on MSN who has no idea what any Text langauge. It took me almost an Hour to explain to him what LOL, WTF, ROTFL all mean.

Anyway on WoW I was in a instance and the Tank (The person who takes the aggro so the monster doesn't hit you ) Just stood there while the healer got nuked and died. Her turned around to us and went.
"OMFG you F**** Noob WTF are you doing?" Then left.

On CoD WaW I had this guy who just stood there in a tank didn't drive but just sat there for almost the whole game untill he was killed.
Also on CoD I had a guy on my time that stood here and kept killing us on his team. Then turned aroud and shouted on the Mic. "You Fking Retards How we gonna win now?"
AGAIN on CoD There was a portugese person and a American guy on there. The Portugese guy has a low K/D Ratio and the American shouted. "Hey You the Effing French Fag*** Lern to play" The guy turned and said "I'm Portugese and i have Lag" And the baby started crying then the american Blew up on and kept shouting at him.
