But she couldn't do such an act alone.

That is where Morgan comes in. In exchange for destroying Kurain, and any trace of the life that was Dahlia Hawthorne, Morgan asked Dahlia and Iris to assist her in gathering the three Magatamas. However there was a flaw- one that was caused by an outsider.

Maya Fey had learned of the plan (she probably was around the area and overheard Morgan talking to Dahlia and Iris. She might have not known Dahlia or Iris but if she saw the red Magatama around Dahlia's neck then she would know who killed her sister).

Maya was planning to tell the village elders but by that time Morgan had already murdered them. She knew Pearl, who owned the blue Magatama, would be in some form of danger but not to the extent of being killed (Morgan loved her youngest daughter too much). Time was short and Maya had no choice. She created a phony Magatama and switched it with the one Pearl had. As Morgan, Dahlia and Iris started to burn the village Maya silently escaped sight and fled far away. She didn't know what happened to the other people living in the village but she knew Pearl was safe. Why?

Well my theory on this is that Maya was the one who arranged the Steel Samurai to adopt Pearl after the village's destruction.

Around Makoto -1, Maya met up with the Steel Samurai again to hear on how Pearl is doing. Maya understands that she is more or less being tracked down by Morgan, Dahlia and Iris- and knows that if she is captured with both Pearl and her own Magatama then Morgan would succeed in her plotting (by this time Morgan probably found out that the Magatama she stole from Pearl before she burned down Kurain was actually a fake). She then gave the -real- blue Magatama over to the Steel Samurai, telling him to give it to Pearl and to tell her that it was 'a gift from Mystic Maya'.

Maya still continues to hide to this day, attempting to avoid Dahlia and Iris (who are looking for her) at any costs. She also looks after Pearl in the shadows.

A couple things of my own to add:

Morgan may have wanted to destroy Kurain as well, mainly as a way of cleansing any of Misty's remaining devotees, securing her grip over the Kurain Spirit Channeling Technique. She may have tried to kill Maya during or before the destruction itself, intending to have her death covered up by the greater tragedy.

Pearl's separation from her mother would have to be something that wasn't planned, they care about each other too much for that. When Pearl has disappeared, Morgan sinks into despair, and when she discovers the "Magatama" she took from her is a fake, she flies into a rage, blaming Dahlia and Iris for not protecting her "favorite daughter" (verbatim, mind you, so Dahlia and Iris can really feel the negative vibes). Morgan demands that Dahlia and Iris avenge their sister if they are to gain their mother's favor.

Maya would, for a while, possess both the green and blue magatama. That's 2/3 of the set, mind you, and a lot of power to be carrying around. Does she know what they do? Can she unlock their powers? Does she meet Misty, perhaps?[/list]

Hmm. Alright, how about this:

Pearl's separation was planned by Maya and arranged by The Steel Samurai. Morgan was planning on taking Pearl with her before the destruction to Hazakura Temple but then she saw that Pearl was nowhere to be found as she was taken by The Steel Samurai beforehand. Morgan finds out while searching the village before giving Dahlia and Iris the signal to burn down the village that Maya is gone as well and believes she took Pearl as well.

Morgan leaves, deciding that Maya and Pearl shouldn't have fled off too far at that point and while she is gone searching for Pearl and Maya she signals Dahlia and Iris to destroy the village. Of course about four hours of searching Morgan doesn't find them anywhere near the village. Then she finds some of Pearl's belongings, one of them being the fake Magatama, on the snowy ground. This leads her to believe that Pearl died somehow.

Why? Well Morgan doesn't know it but the Steel Samurai took Pearl (and is probably in the city miles and miles away from Kurain) and Maya was able to get away using Pearl and her own Magatama.

My idea for levels of Magatama are like this:

1 Magatama- Enhancing powers such as strength, speed, etc (Dahlia and Pearl would fall under this)
2 Magatama- Enhancing powers (listed above) and using other special abilities (my idea is that one of these special abilities is teleportation within several hundred miles of your current location, which is why Maya in particular was able to escape the vicinity of Kurain so quickly)
3 Magatama- ??? (this is subjected to debate)

Fast forward about two years after Kurain's destruction (not sure when to put this. I want to say around SM -4 but that would mean that at the time of Kurain's destruction Pearl would be about 11). Morgan finds out, while boredly comparing the Red Magatama to the fake one, that Pearl's Magatama looks awfully suspicious. She then confirmed this by slamming a hammer over Pearl's causing it to break (the idea behind this is that because Magatamas are reinforced by spiritual energy they cannot be broken no matter what damage they go under). And as Bee so nicely put it- goes bat shit and yells at Dahlia and Iris.

As for vengeance for Pearl's 'death' she demands Dahlia and Iris find the last two Magatamas, believing that Maya has both of them (which she has).

Flash forward once more. SM -1, Maya meets up with The Steel Samurai while Pearl is in school during the day and tells him that Morgan is definitely looking for her and she (Morgan) believes Pearl has died during Kurain's destruction, thanks to the Steel Samurai leaving the fake Magatama on the mountain grounds while taking Pearl from Kurain. Maya gives the Blue Magatama back to The Steel Samurai, asking him to give it to Pearl.

So ya C: How about that?

I think you forget the symbolism in having Pearl die in a fire. If she were outside of Kurain, there would be no reason for her to be in danger. If she were still in Kurain when it was destroyed, then there would be reasonable doubt as to her safety. Remember, Morgan is counting on this in order to kill Maya and the rest of Misty's supporters in the midst of the disaster. Instead, her plan backfires, and instead of finding proof of Maya's death, she finds proof of Pearl's... Proof that immediately turns out to be fake (she would know much earlier than two years if a magatama was boosting her powers, especially if she were to have two of them at that time), meaning someone was trying to throw her off (and if someone was trying to throw off her plans, Pearl really could be dead).

All that happened is that Maya got to Pearl before Morgan did when it came time to evacuate Kurain (leave during the disaster so as to avoid suspicion that would be roused by leaving before it). After they escaped, Maya would contact the Steel Samurai to take Pearl, as she was too young to accompany Maya on her quest to uncover the conspiracy.

Another thing about the magatama: why don't the leaders have them? There must be something in the tradition that states that only designated heirs to the leadership positions may hold on to them. This is significant as it means Dahlia and Iris were both passed over in favor of Pearl.

....actually, I forgot the whole part about Pearl 'dying' in a fire to begin with :D -BRICK'D- Hmm...-ponders- Alright let me get another crack of this. Click the spoiler box at the end of this post to find the revised idea.

As for the Magatamas lets think of it this way- Misty leaves Kurain after some incident (not DL-6, since in Smako that event would be a major time paradox) and leaves three Magatamas behind (because Misty was the Head of the technique she probably had to possess all three of them, right?).

The first one, the red magatama, went to the her first daughter Mia. The second one, the green magatama, went to Misty's second child Maya. Now the third one would have originally been handed over to Dahlia, Iris or Morgan but all three of them lacked spiritual powers, making them unfavorable by the Kurain Village Heads (the idea is that while Misty is the Head of the technique she would work with a few other acolytes that ran the village in a sense). So the Blue Magatama was held off.

Eight years later after Misty's disappearance from Kurain Pearl is born. She is tested and shown to have amazing spiritual power capabilities, a Branch Family prodigy if you will. It is decided that perhaps five to six years after her birth she would receive the Blue Magatama (like stated previously, Dahlia, Iris or Morgan were suppose to receive it but they lacked spiritual power and so they decided to wait a while until either Morgan would give birth again or either Mia or Maya would become part of the Branch family).

In SMako, while Dahlia and Iris are still the half-sisters to Pearl, their father didn't take them away. Yet we insist on calling Dahlia with her last name. And what do we make of Iris?

I move to strike "Hawthorne" from the record, to avoid confusion.

I already displayed an idea for Dahlia's last name in the paintchat a while back. The idea was that Dahlia is using 'Hawthorne' as a red herring. Her real last name is 'Fey' but she uses 'Hawthorne' as an alias (it helps in avoiding the government, no?)

As for Iris- her last name can remain 'Fey'. Even if she works with Dahlia she is not officially struck down as 'evil' (that and Dahlia is mostly to blame for the Borginia Incident. Iris might have been their with her sister but she is more of Dahlia's helper than a criminal herself. Mainly the government wants Dahlia.)

And yes, it is basically a nom de plume. It would also make Dahlia being hidden in Kurain after the Borginia Incident because they think Dahlia Hawthorne did it, not Dahlia Fey.

Sorry for the double post but it's time for the character crack I came up with at 2 in the morning~

Name: Celeste Inpax
Age: Deceased before the beginning of Smako
Occupation: A brigadier general fighter pilot in Manfred's Army
How killed?: Killed in battle by her ex-husband, Juan Corrida (he also dies though so lol)

Why is Celeste so damn important though? Well the idea was brought up before that Celeste is Adrian's adoptive mother so I decided to play on that a little. Yes Adrian is still adopted (Manfred wouldn't allow one of his top generals get pregnant to escape war for 9 months -SHOT-) and was raised by Celeste until her death.

But why is this so important? Well I set Celeste to be killed about five years after Adrian's adoption (Adrian would probably be about ten when her mother died, five when adopted). Around that time Franziska would be 5 (in the game Adrian and Franny are 5 years apart) and Manfred would take her (Adrian) in as a playmate for Franny and would later train Adrian to be some form of a guard for Franziska in battle or something. He also used Power Perfect to manipulate Adrian's mind to forget about Celeste (you can't be trying to train a grieving, depressed ten year old to be a fighter)

Okay, that's all fine and dandy, but it does bring up a point: what kind of empire does Manfred have?

Before, we assumed his was like some kind of Negaverse deal, an alternate dimension or far-off corner of space that for the most part was an island. Who would they be fighting with, if anyone? What kind of world does Manfred live in that he has conquered, and has made him turn his sights to "Earth?"

Perhaps we could deal away with the alternate dimensions deal altogether, and just give Manfred his own fictional nation. It would make him more of a clear and present danger to the world by making him a part of it, especially if he's already using his Power Perfect to control a good swath of it.

If it does, Angel probably wouldn't be able to use this half as well as the people in GS4, though. Especially since Angel seems more likely to focus on more advanced techniques and doesn't have a bracelet to tell her when to use it.

As far as the Perceive System goes according to GS4 only people from the Gramarye inherit it. The bracelet will probably be useless if you don't have the inherited power in you.

So unless Angel is a Gramarye now then the perceive system won't apply to her, even with one of them fancy bracelets ;D~

Unless we decide to make 'perceiving' an actual technique if you have a perceive bracelet (thats what I call it at least) C:

Yes, but I'm wondering if the inherited power isn't related to the eyesight Angel receives from her blessed eye. The reason the Gramaryes can use it so well is because of their bracelets. But they even said ingame that there were other people who had that kind of vision but just had no idea when to use the system. In fact, even if that was one of the techniques Angel could use, I imagine she wouldn't because of that very problem.

On the other hand, if the Perceive System were a Blessed Eye technique, that could technically mean the Gramaryes could learn other techniques like Angel uses...

But I don't know if that's a great idea or a terrible idea or what. It just seems similar enough that I wondered about this.

Just because a particular power is inherited by a particular bloodline doesn't mean it's the only bloodline that has that kind of power. From the descriptions that Pie gave to the Cursed Eye and Blessed Eye that Angel possesses, these are things granted by otherworldly powers, as opposed to the Perceive System which is strictly linked to genetics.

The Perceive System itself is really only a method of noting finer details at a moderate distance, much like the zoom-in effect we got in the games. As for actually seeing the things behind those details... well, you have to get lucky when you press the witness, haha.

So what this brings into question, then, is what kind of powers Trucy and Apollo share. Perhaps they really only share the Perceive System in its original form, but it serves either of them in their own ways - Trucy can use it to enhance her timing for magic tricks, whereas it lets Apollo find his mark with his attacks (Leonidas' final strike from 300, anyone?). What else do we need to add on top of that?

With that said, Apollo's Spartan blood can then come from his father. Consequently, his bracelet is not linked to his Spartan blood, as it comes from his mother as part of the Perceive System. Or did we want to keep this particular detail of linking the bracelet to the bloodline?

I had an alternate idea for the bracelet, linking it to the Spartan blood instead of Gramarye's Perceive, basically signifying the link between Apollo and...

...before I go on, let me add that I may not be a shameless OC inserter, but I am a shameless shipper.

The bracelet signifies the link between Apollo and the Delphic Oracle, a necessary partner for him to attune to the full power of the Olympian Pantheon. And just who is this mysterious Sibyl...? Unfortunately, such a detail may have to come in Future Arc, or GS5+, when/if Lamiroir, and thus Apollo's lineage, gets a more extensive treatment in the original game canon.

Personally I think of the bracelet has an enhancer for the perceive power. The actual power is bloodline and who ever has the bracelet can just use it to a greater extent. Kind of like the Magatama, ~~only less cool~~ -SHOT-

Alright, a couple questions I want people to think about.

Phoenix Wright's development, from military special operative to civilian defender. Why, if he's reconstructed as HoboCop, hasn't he been put back into service around the globe? Or has he? What is his life like?

What about Phoenix's connection to Trucy? What about Phoenix's connection to Maya? To Edgeworth?

This isn't to say that Phoenix's story is suddenly going to creep up on our GS4 hero's spotlight, no. Granted, though we do follow the GS4 arc, there's plenty of characterization that's been established through relationships, and in any AU project there's going to be a lot of revisionist development going on. Are we cool with that?

TLDR: What about Trucy? Discuss.

Hobocop question- Maybe the government has him working to find Dahlia who they probably believe is somewhere in his area. How do they know this- maybe a certain spirit medium who escaped from Kurain tipped them off ;O -brick'd-

Connection to Maya- Well right now what I have in mind if that Maya knows Phoenix a little through what she heard from Mia about him before the Borginia Incident. Perhaps shes looking for him as well as Misty C:

Connection to Edgeworth- Not sure about this :C Especially considering that I never read anything about a cemented history for Edgeworth besides him becoming an unwilling test subject for Holy Trinity which in term turned him into The Edge.

Connection to Trucy- I say we stick by the canon- Trucy gets adopted by Phoenix. How though needs to be worked out (especially if Phoenix was never a lawyer and Zak is a Spartan)

I agree, things in projects all always under revision. Just look at the PW scans by checking Media --> Official Art. Scroll down and you'll see in art book scans that characters went through several or more different concepts before anything was aired out.

Ohright XD Brain lapsed made me forget that Trucy and Apollo are half-siblings with the same mother -brick'd-

Well then maybe Apollo's dad was a Spartan killed in battle or something XP But I think we should wait for more GS5 details to come out before we think about this.

How they connected (Maya and Phoenix) though was the question. And that reminds me- what about Diego. Did Maya ever meet him or knew about him from Mia (Mia WAS his fiancée)

Considering how close Mia and Maya were, it wouldn't surprise me if Maya knew Diego. It's a point that isn't elaborated very well in the original game canon. However, Maya didn't really know Grossberg herself...

Apollo's father being a hero (performer) killed in battle (performance onstage) would make sense. Personally I never really liked how they glossed over that fact. There's a lot they have to address in GS5+, but for now, again, we'll just have to leave all of that for much much later.

So we need to set up a good timeline for Phoenix Wright again, since in the older versions he and Maya were together for a short while after the Borginia Incident. Are we still sticking with that, or are we breaking them off so that Maya can go disappearing earlier? She would have to be "in hiding" from Morgan from the very get go either way, so whether she decides to hide with Phoenix or elsewhere...

Well the way I wrote it out was that Kurain was destroyed one year after the Borginia Incident. So in that timeline Maya might have met up with Phoenix again (perhaps to discuss about Mia's death and Diego's involvement with it) in that timespan. As for hiding with Phoenix I rather say no. If Pearl is especially close to Phoenix and thinks of him as an uncle then she would be bound to find out about Maya much sooner into the plot that the beginning of Smako.

Now I want to bring another new idea to the table. It was brought up about if Maya did find Misty by the time Smako begins. This idea has been running in my head since this:

The Spirit Brigade (REALLY NEEDS A BETTER NAME -SHOT-)

A small group of people who work for one cause: to find the truth of the Borginia Incident and stop the instigators. Each member has their own personal reason to do so and thus they all work together to accomplish their common goal.

The members include:
Misty Fey (wants to stop her older sister from taking the magatama)
Maya Fey (shares the same goal as her mother and also wants to bring Dahlia to justice for Mia's murder)
Lamiroir/Thalassa Gramarye (Misty's friend** who tipped the government off to Dahlia's involvement with Mia's death. Is trying to recover her mysterious past** and reunite with her friend [who wants to take a wild guess at this**])
Romein Letouse** (An interpol agent that the American government assigned to protect Lamiroir from anybody that might want to harm a crucial witness to the Borginia Incident.)

1) For Lamiroir being Misty's friend I suggest that when Misty decided to elope after some event (similar to DL-6 but obviously not DL-6 itself) she went to Borginia and soon met with Lamiroir.

2) The past, of course, being her two children and what has become of them. Although we need to decide if Lamiroir forgot everything about them for some reason and if she is still blind as a bat.

3) It's Machi

4) Superhero or just an Interpol agent with guns? Personally I go with the latter- sort of a balance to the brigade.

WE, you don't mind if I take up the task of creating some costume ideas for Celeste? Somehow creating a costume for a fighter pilot seems to intrugue me. You want a futuristic style costume, or should I just doodle and see what happens?

Yea the butterfly wings ;D They're metallic though so they aren't really actual wings. ~~Plus Manfred hates all things pretty so he calls them pilot wings~~

XP Don't worry about it being too mecha. She'll need armor of some form to protect herself in battle though ;D

You know, I'm never one to complain about the spontaneous addition of butterfly wings (MOAR FAIRIES WHEE) but now that I think about it - isn't it the plane that has the wings, not the pilot?

Well I thought of Celeste to be a general mid-range fighter (close and long-range combat. I don't know if this term exists but whatever) but I wanted to also develop something from the term 'like mother like daughter'.

In short: Since Adrian/Pulsar can fly then so can Celeste :D -brick- Of course Celeste is merely a human and really has no magical capabilities. Adrian has some form of abilities that are probably influenced from Manfred using Power Perfect on her to alter her memories of Celeste. So the idea was- HOW DO I FLY CELESTE?!

Butterfly-like plane jet wings that she attaches to her back before her fights.

On that note, WE, were you seriously taking a cue from the suit design I'd stuck on Adrian in recent sketches?

Though on that note, we have very few, if any, characters with the ability to fly. Should we give anyone this precious and valuable power, and who? (I think it goes without saying that Franziska and HoboCop can do it)

Hmm~ I thought she could fly, judging by this picture. Ah well, my bad then C:

As for Celeste's design- I don't really have much of a set design. Perhaps it could be similar to Adrian's in some aspects but not too similar. Not that it really needs to be super elaborate. Like in 2-4 Celeste is already dead by the time Smako starts.

Well I think people like Maya and Pearl can probably fly a little, with the help of that psychic Fey bloodline of theirs. But not very high altitudes and it would drain energy quick to stay up too long. I'm not sure if Repast can fly -saw some designs with him having a wing so?- Lisa can fly a little with her jetpack shoes (Iron Man anybody -brick'd-)

And I think thats it for now C: Not too sure if Makoto can fly, unless she draws wings on herself.
