Everything we know about GK3
In the great tradition of "Everything we know about GS5". I bring you this thread. Granted, the future of GK3 is amorphous at best, but then again, GS5 was looking quite sure 5 years ago. (Curse you Pick your Prosecutor! *Shakes fist at ridiculously long lived contest*). So I'll just be compiling anything we come across here.
Granted, there's not much to look at. Practically nothing really. But it all has to start somewhere right?
July 26th 2012: Eshiro would like to make more Gyakuten Kenji - Far from being a confirmation, but Eshiro wouldn't be opposed to working on a new GK game. Keep in mind, he previously said he wanted to work on GS5. And thus far we don't know anything on if he's involved in GS5. Honestly, we don't know much about GS5 period, aside from Takumi's involved. So don't yet take this as confirmation. Wishful thinking is not a product.

Practicially nothing. But I'm getting a head start on this this time around because when I did my GS5 thread there were a lot of leads I missed when I first created it. This time I'll keep this thread alive as we go.

Who wants to bank that it won't get a release outside of Japan, thus angering the community into further rage?
On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.

Mind you not like it's unexpected this time unlike GK2 which we thought they'd bring here.

Yeah, I'm still a bit annoyed about GK2. Hate seeing characters from that game and not knowing who they are considering I like to keep myself spoiler free. At least there are other games to play.Pierre wrote:That is an upsetting likelihood.dullahan1 wrote:Who wants to bank that it won't get a release outside of Japan, thus angering the community into further rage?

If this don't get localised, which would make sense seeing their track record, it's just another game to dodge spoilers for until a fan translation/modded emulator can cover it.

Re: Everything we know about GK3
"I" knew GK2 was going to have a hard time being localized when it was announced so darn close to the 3DS release date. I'm not entirely sure why I was the only one to seemingly take that into consideration.

Well if they do make it, it is possible that the second game would be released on the eShop in North America...now what I am wondering is if they did make it would it keep to its traditional style or would it go more along the lines of Dual Destines?

But I'm really hoping that the official page will soon update with some more information. I wonder if now that Dual Destinies is out, whether they'll link this game to DD's plot? Or maybe stray from that path entirely.

Whatever this game ends up as, I hope we get to control camera angles. They used it so much in PLvsAA, and only once did we actually see Phoenix Wright walking at the defense's bench. Blasphemy, I tell you! Phoenix Wright does NOT walk; he teleports.
Really, the 3D investigations and free reign of locations were some of the things in GS5 done absolutely right. If they don't bring them back, I don't know what they'd include instead.
I also want to ride a scooter as I investigate. It'd be the best way to move around ever.

ZVARRI! I predict (or hope) that when and if GK3 comes out, Capcom will localize the third game, make a trilogy package for the 3DS and use the fan translation for the second game as part of the release. Maybe a slight stretch of imagination, but it would be fantastic if this ever happened
"No one can change the past. The only thing we can do is strive to make up for our mistakes. Why must we make up for our mistakes, you ask? Because in so doing... we can find the way back to our path. And once we've found our path, we can move on from our past mistakes toward a brighter future."- Phoenix Wright

In DD, Phoenix explicitly says Edgeworth has already been chief prosecutor for one year, which means he probably got the position when Apollo Justice had his first trials in AJ:AA. I think it would be neat to have GK3 take place around that time, also because it seems to be a tradition to not make the GK games move forward the timeline of the AA canon.Kevin Ace Attorney wrote:Do you think GK3 will be after the 8 year gap or not?

Honestly, if they could ever make a spinoff to a spinoff, I'd get my hands on a copy of "Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth - Prosecutor's Privilege" or whatever, and play the heck out of it. Assign prosecutors to cases! Cut salaries when people aren't doing their jobs right! Stop by on-site investigations to check if everything's in order! Lead the way if you have to! And all the while figure out how to arrange Nick to the worst possible cases somehow.
Almost a year. He probably wasn't Chief until October when Nick first brought up the Jurist System to Apollo and Trucy. In that case, they'd feature Edgeworth as a normal prosecutor on his way up, should they take that route.linkenski wrote:In DD, Phoenix explicitly says Edgeworth has already been chief prosecutor for one year, which means he probably got the position when Apollo Justice had his first trials in AJ:AA. Re: Everything we know about GK3
This is the longest of longshots, but what about having GK3 take place before the other two, and actually have it taking place when Edgeworth was running around Europe in JFA? Granted, it would have to break the "NO MENTIONING PHOENIX" rule, but that's a stupid rule anyway since WE ALL KNOW WHO YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT, EDGEWORTH.
We could call it GK0.

Re: Everything we know about GK3
Nah, I don't think it'd work out well. There's nothing wrong with jumping into that period so full of mystery and suspense, but if the GK games finish their trilogy by going backwards in time, it comes off as a little sarcastic.
Besides, if we want Phoenix to ever show up in a GK game outside of a cameo, it'd have to be a case where: 1, Phoenix unofficially defends someone Edgeworth suspects (but then comes the "why is this idiot working against us if he's not even hired"); 2, Phoenix (or Maya) is only involved as a witness by some strange coincidence; or 3, he becomes a victim "of sorts" and may even join Edgeworth to hunt down the culprit. Double whammy out of court? Hells yes.

Aw, don't worry. You bring up a good question. Just how did the transition between the "he hath disgraced me" Prosecutor of Venice to the "everything begins with the truth" Prosecutor Edgeworth we know and love even happen? It's worth looking into. It'd also be a game/case without Kay or Gumshoe, so he'd need a new assistant.

Re: Everything we know about GK3
I have to wonder: I mean, it's generally implied (or assumed) that Mitsurugi was in America during that time in the same way it was generally implied (or assumed) that Edgeworth was in Germany/Europe, right?
Because I can totally see one case invilving like... the Statue of Liberty or something. I wonder what the localization team would do with that?

Re: Everything we know about GK3
If it involves the Statue of Liberty, it'd become especially easy. Just say he was in New York at the time. No one really knew where he'd gone then, after all.
He could then have left for Europe by T&T, hence allowing Larry to wake him up from a good night's rest that one time.
As for how so many people in New York could possibly speak Japanese, well, that's another story... Japamerica?

I feel like there's a Pearl Harbor joke in there somewhere...
What about, say, Mitsurugi goes to Los Angeles? Or San Francisco, or Tracy, because for some reason those two seem funnier to me. (He was like one city over the whole time, GOOD JOB NICK.)

Well, since this universe they live in practically combines the two countries, I think WWII couldn't have happened. In a way, their world is so much more peaceful.
And I could actually see the localization team pull that off. "We never said anything about Edgeworth leaving the country; only that he 'disappeared'. He was actually throwing a tantrum in the next city over."

The more I think about it, the more likely that seems. I mean, plane tickets would be quite a bit of a paper trail...
