I still think it's very suspect that they've entered in a Payne 2. But, looking at GS4 Payne, perhaps the reason they changed characters is because hair strands are a 3D nightmare. Of course, that then begs the question of why they didn't just give Winston a Bald Afro instead...

I can't say I am too sure of my opinion as well. But there is a third reason why I don't think Winston is the culprit. Do you really think Winston Payne, a character that appearead in all six Ace Attorney games up until now, will say farewell as a ruthless murderer? I can't imagine poor Payne will end like this.

What do we actually know about Winston? He looses every case we see him in, and he's seemingly the only prosecutor to consider the motive of the defendant in his cases. The fact that for all his screen time, we don't know what makes him tick leaves a lot of room to be written in.

Also, regarding the red elephant thing, I have a feeling it's a mascot for something...if you pause the trailer carefully at one point, you can see its name is "Netsuzou", which is sorta hard to translate... "Fever Elephant"?
Then again it could be the soft toy the bomb was hidden in...

Okay, when you look at that animation it's quite similar.
But watch the new trailer again:
It looks like you can see his skull under his skin and it just doesn't really look like Payne in 3D.
(Yes it's his brother but apart from his hair they look identical)

Think about it, why would he (the bomb-guy) bring up the fact that he hates defence attorneys unless one was killed? They are ultimately trying to prove that (bomb-guy) killed the victim. When trying to prove his motive, they find out that he has a grudge against attorneys. They wouldn't need to prove that unless an attorney was killed. Now whether it was a defense attorney or not is up for debate. Why would an attorney be alone in court? Was the attorney the only one who was killed?
I don't know, but if Apollo really does get killed I'm seriously considering not buying this game (no matter how much I crave a new AA). Killing him off is the most immature way to get rid of the character. They could just say he's studying abroad, but apparently Apollo was such an insanely horridly awful disgusting atrocious abysmal character that he deserved to die. APPARENTLY.
I'm overreacting. A lot. But the sudden change in attorneys and the testimony scare me.

I agree with you to a certain extent. I don't want them to kill off Apollo in 5 seconds and then just forget about him. As someone who was introduced into AA by Apollo and his story that would be awful.
However, if they make it a major plot point and it's not just a way to get Phoenix into the main role again, I might be up for it. In fact, a well-developed, important death with far-reaching consequences would be preferable to one line about him being overseas.
What I don't want is TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE. Do you guys remember that one? It was the animated one from the 80's. They killed off the entire cast in order for Hasbro to introduce the new toy line. This would be bad.
But some of the best movies and TV shows have a character die, but that death and that character's goals become an important part of the story overall. This would be alright. In my opinion it is more respectful to Apollo than mentioning him overseas, because we know he's not going to be the star of any new games. [Realistically, they're not getting rid of Phoenix again.] So I'd rather see him go out with a bang then just be forgotten.

They could have it so he re-took the bar exam as soon as Apollo Justice ended because he felt he needed to take back what was stolen from him, but his experiences might have turned him away from becoming an Attorney again; maybe he just carries on as Hobo Phoenix or finds another job and leaves the defending to Apollo.
But then if Apollo died... I could see that being the catalyst for his return to the court. I don't think Capcom will do it, but it'd make for an interesting plot point.

I don't think he takes the bar exam because of Apollo's death. As you said, he's already taken the exam. In fact, the bomb being shown like it happens that day or that week, which isn't enough time to take the bar exam..
As sad as I am to admit it, I don't think we'll see him in another game. While I personally look at AJ's story as great, I'm sure Capcom looks at AJ as a mistake. So they're not going to kick Phoenix out again. I guess its possible to have a spin-off series like GK, but since AJ gameplay would be normal GS gameplay I don't think it would happen. It would seem that Apollo is just a side character now. And I think he's too important of a character to just fade away.
Don't get me wrong, Killing Apollo is by far not my first choice. I'd much rather him be an important side character in GS5. But, as I said [and no pun intended on my earlier post] if killing Apollo [and the aftermath of that] will have a greater effect on the world and become a main factor in the game's plot, I'd rather have that than have him mentioned once or twice then disappear forever. It's the same exact outcome from a narrative standpoint only he doesn't get enough attention drawn to him. I want Apollo to have more of an impact than just getting Wright back into court. Look at Mia [don't even include her post death appearances.] Her death was one of the main elements driving the plot of GS1. So sometimes a character death treated with respect can be good for that character's mark on the world.

That was it? I couldn't figure it out and assumed it was some complicated reference to something I wasn't aware of.
Professor Yoshi, as for Grossberg, since he hasn't been in the games since the first there would be no reason to kill him off/reference him at all. The only reason to kill off any main character is if it's going to be important to the plot. Otherwise they should just use a new face as the victim. I understand why people don't want Apollo to die [I certainly don't], and doubt that Capcom would do it, but as I've said before I'd rather him be killed off in an important way rather than have him disappear in a reference and then is never seen again.
Like I said, my preference [and what I believe will happen] is that Apollo has a big role as an ally of Phoenix in the game. Non-Playable, but still important to the case. They haven't shown any returning characters yet, so until more detailed info about the plot comes out I am not worried about Apollo. Especially if there are animated cutscenes in the game, it means there will be more chances to have Apollo in the shot.

Grossberg does seem to be the go-to guy for victims in fan cases, perhaps because he's a known but unimportant character. If Apollo does wind up kicking the bucket (hopefully not!), on the other hand, I expect his death to be directly connected to the overarching plot. Not as a throwaway victim in Case 1 (or indeed, any case that's not the finale), that's just insulting.

As for Apollo, I agree if he's the "victim", this'd better not be a murder, I'd rather have him just be in coma a lá Diego Armando or something.
I actually had that weird idea that they *say* Apollo was killed in the explosion, but during the trial, Nick figures out that the autopsy report is fake because there's no crime scene photos of the body and they realize that the body was never found, which could initiate some kind of "Where in the world is my protégé?!" plotline to be kicked off. (And maybe Apollo full-out goes Godot and he's the Mystery Prosecu-- OK, I'll shut up already.)
Yeah... That, or they kill of Grossberg. Actually, yeah, please Grossberg. He's old, he'd still have an impact on people by dying, but we can forgive it, because he had it coming.
Oh, and as for Kokone's English name? I think the pun in her name is almost more important than the meaning of the Kanji: Her name can be taken to mean "Notice this! Look here!" as a pun, which goes well with her obviously attention-hungry personality (which she somewhat shares with Apollo and makes a great contrast to Nick's personality). Meanwhile, the Kanji in her name make it means "Wishing Moon, Sound of Heart/Heartbeat"
I think they are more likely to translate the first pun, than the second.
Also, on the Famitsu Website, I read that Kokone, very important, studied in "America" (Which in the localization is likely gonna be Germany again) so I kinda am leaning towards German-ish names for her.
One name that came to me was one that doesn't really translate any of the meanings of her name, but just goes for another pun, simmilar to Kay's name.
"Anika 'Annie' Wayes". A pun on "Anyway". Though, I guess that's a bit too simple... (Even if I like the sound of "Annie". I think it'd suit her.)

It should be. In one shot during the livestream, they brought up a picture of the toy's tail, implying that the plush toy broke into pieces. It also makes sense that they'd arrest the girl who owns that toy. Now I'm curious about that other animal doll(?), the blue rhino dressed as Nick.
Glad to know that police investigations aside from the participation of an Edgeworth are once again... rushed.

As for the rest of the article, there are some interesting details in there. I didn't realize that those emotion icons were part of the Heart Scope, for example. I thought it was part of the UI to choose what they should be emoting or something.
Hmm... that system actually sounds a bit like L.A. Noire if the game had just stated what people's faces were telling. Hopefully the system is more in depth than that.
Also, I wouldn't be surprised if only the key points of the game had voice acting. Many games do that, after all.
