I've played the fan-translated version, and this game has got to be the best mystery game I've ever played. I'd even say in some parts, it's better than Phoenix Wright. (Except for the mouths moving really fast. That got irritating.) There are hardly any obvious contradictions as well!!

The is one thing I'm kinda in the dark about though.

Spoiler: Towards the end of the game
What was with Komada going all evil on you, and trying to lock you in the classroom? Is he the murderer in the first game or something?

Oh, haha. Just replayed it. Evidently, he just has a really sick sense of humor...

This game really deserves to be noticed. The remake has a top notch soundtrack, great script, and good graphics too. And hoo boy... I can't believe they even got the graphics and music so good in the remake. In the original, every single person looked like a demented freak.

The only issues I have is that it often takes a lot of guesswork, and the ending will either leave you shocked or rolling on the floor laughing... :sadshoe:

Sounds interesting; how does the puzzle interface work? Do you have to use or present objects at the right time, Phoenix Wright-style? Do you combine abstract ideas in a notebook to obtain deductions, as in a few puzzles in the Blackwell series? Or are puzzles solved implictly by going places and talking to the right people?

Kinda all of them... it's hard to explain. (I've never heard of Blackwell though.)

Basically, it's just like the investigation phase of Phoenix Wright, just with much more options. Except you can only move to places at certain times.

The only way to play it is to patch the ROM file, too, if anyone wants to play it.

:nick-sweat: No.... that's not what I meant...

I mean, quite literally, that IS the only way to play the game. I don't think you can even buy it anywhere anymore, so, unless Nintendo releases a DS port, ROM downloading is the only way to play it.

Also, I believe I'm not breaking the rules, because it only has a rule against posting links to ROMs. Talking about a now unavailable game that's only available through ROMs is not breaking the rules.

That wouldn't even make sense, seeing how the first game takes place AFTER the second chronologically.

Yes, it is NOT ALLOWED to share ROMs on the forum topics as Croik said.
But if you use the PM function, it is not against the rules. Or send e-mail to give the URL of the ROM hosted on another site.

Yeah, you're right. I thought it was a cameo or something, but it's just his sick sense of humor.

I really liked this game. After reading about the twists in the storyline though, I was a little disappointed with the ending, as I realised early on who the culprit was, and I was actually expecting some twist to reveal another character as the culprit.

Spoiler: Ending
If you didn't spoil yourself, the only clues of the real culprit are in the last two chapters. However, I was really stupid when I played the game, and only realized it was Hibino at the VERY end.

Hibino going evil at the end though was really cool though, albeit a bit goofy at times... Man he's nuts.

MEGA BUMP!

I just beat the game, and it was very good. It has a much darker, more serious tone than pw, but I really liked that. The artwork and backgrounds were gorgeous for a super famicom game, especially the character art. The music was perfectly mood setting too, and I just found out it's the same composer who did the super metroid ost! The investigation system is mostly good, but can be pretty annoying sometimes when you have no idea what to do and have to spend 10 minutes pressing random options.

The story was well-paced and suspenseful-it's got a bit of a supernatural twist to it, though not nearly as much as pw3. I'm surprised the game isn't more popular though, something like this seems like it would have a cult following. People need to play this game-have some pictures:

After reading this thread I got my hands on this game and played through it. Thanks for the recommendation! I'd be looking for a mystery fix since compelting all the AA games.

I'd recommend getting your hands on a game called "Snatcher" if you've never played it. Its a great mystery/adventure game that is an homage to Blade Runner and Terminator, designed by Hideo Kojima.

I enjoyed the title. My one complaint was that the character's names weren't localized. I couldn't follow who was who and got lost in the dialog very often because of that.

But regardless. it is an EXCELLENT mystery title. I loved how they distracted you from the main mystery and then thrusted it upon you in the end.

Nintendo better remake both Famicom Tantei Club I & II for the DS.

It looks like a great game, and very underrated too. I remember seeing a video of the first Famicom Tantei Club...it was a remake, and it had voices, real composed music, and the graphics redrawn.
