People forget, Judges were Attorneys once. Some were good, some were bad.

Rumor has it my dad is going to be appointed to a State Appellate Court in Texas. He'd be a............... different Judge. He tends to speak his mind freely.

I also assume that neither of you would ever be able to be in the same courtroom?... or would it not raise questions? (It's not a LACK of trust towards either of ye, rather, it is that OTHERS may think that family ties would influence verdicts...)

The only time I would see him was if I was practicing law in Texas.

Plus he would have to recuse himself based on the obvious conflict of interest.

I know of about 3. My dad tries to play, but he keeps calling :phoenix: "A dumb shit" so..........

I got my old officemate at the Manhattan D.A.'s Office, Dan Dieter, to play. If anyone remembers, he's the one who has the Kristoph objection.

I sent Judge Brock Thomas a DS and PW for his birthday, still no word.

Obtaining a Law Degree converted me into a lawyer.

Joining the Manhattan D.A.'s office converted me into a public servant.

Joining the U.S. Attorney's Office converted me into a Federal Prosecutor.

I was 17 when I joined this forum. During this time I participated in a thread that made light of sexual assault and event making jokes about it. I didn't think much of it at the time other than portraying a villain. I am older, looking back see how unacceptable & disgusting. I removed the comments because I do not wish to condone this behaviour. But of course fragments remain. I can only apologise for any hurt of distress caused.

That is pretty powerful but..

My Objection is backed by Legends of the Legal World. *No one will know these names, I'm just typing to show off*

I'm backed by, John "The Winter Lion" Doar, Ramsey "Sunfire" Clark, Nick "Backlash" Katzenabch, Leon "The Polish Hammer" Jaworski, Roger "Run and Gun" Adelman, Benjamin "Crosshair" Civiletti, David "Rumble" Marston and finally the two greatest nicknames ever..

Tommy "Thunderchild" Helms and Thomas "The Great Destroyer" Foran.

TAKE THAT!

This was after Trial today, in the hallways of the Federal Courthouse.

:kyouya: Me

:redd: Defense Attorney Jack Shaughnessy.

:adrian: Jack's wife, Jennifer.

:redd: Mr. Lee, I'd like you to meet my wife.

:kyouya: It's a pleasure.

:redd: Every year since my rookie year back in 1977, I've brought her down here and done this.

*I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. I SWEAR!*

:adrian: Oh, I love it when he does this!!

:redd: *He started singing* Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

Some day I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemondrops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
Some day I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemondrops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?

If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

:redd: / :adrian: *kiss*

:kyouya: ..... Good Night, Jack!

Oh! For a sec there I thought you would've been more like "...... is he do-no wait, he's still going" or something.

With the low attention span I have? I suck at having my attention kept on any ONE thing.

Speaking of....

My teacher always did this: She would NEVER pick students who were listening to her when she asked a question to a class. Rather, she would either pick a student who shows signs of ignorance, fatigue, etc., or she would answer the question herself.

Of course, I found a way past that.

:phoenix: Me.

:oldbag: Teacher.

:oldbag: Mr. Wrestlemania?
:phoenix: Hmm?
:oldbag: I assume you know the answer to the question?
:phoenix: ... Of course I do!
:oldbag: WHAT? You weren't even listening!
:phoenix: Prove I wasn't listening!
:oldbag: What's the answer then!
:phoenix: I wasn't listening.
:oldbag: I JUST SAID THAT!
:phoenix: But you couldn't prove it!
:oldbag: GRRRR... FINE! But you don't know the answer!
:phoenix: Sure I do!
:oldbag: WHAT???
:phoenix: I just don't want to answer it!

We went on like this for 20 minutes straight with the students in the classroom practically crying from laughter before I just got up and wrote the answer anyways. I WAS listening, I just wanted to mess around with her.

I had to go to the principal afterwards, and I got a congratulations from him, for doing that, since no one else ever had in all the years she was teaching.

It's weird to get respect like that...

I didn't think much of it at the time other than portraying a villain. I am older, looking back see how unacceptable & disgusting. I removed the comments because I do not wish to condone this behaviour. But of course fragments remain. I can only apologise for any hurt of distress caused.

My family and I once had to go to court...... about something, which I prefer not to disclose with anyone here. Point is, I was assigned a lawyer (and my parents got their own). I do realize that this is "what your teacher has said", but I kinda like to sometimes see my lawyer as... a mentor somewhat. She was nice enough to explain some things and such.

...Anyhow, here's one funny thing she said. These are not actual quotes, I can't quite remember them exactly. It was months ago.

:ema: Me
:mia: My lawyer (I'd also prefer not to disclose her name, in fear that it will reveal what province I live in. I don't feel comfortable telling where I live.)
:payne: My parents' lawyer

Whist waiting for my family's trial to begin, we sat down and watched over court proceedings. Can't quite remember, but what we saw during the moment was... some woman who was charged of being abusive to her children or a druggist. I have no idea.

:mia: *Whispers something to my parents' lawyer*
:payne: *Small chuckle*
:ema: Eh?
:mia: *Whisper* I never watch soap operas. A trial is like a soap opera.
:ema: *Small smile*

I didn't felt like chuckling at the time.... I guess I was feeling depressed at the time.

This is most likely one of those "You had to be there moments," and one that happened this morning. And yes, I am on a first name basis with my chemistry professor.

:grey: = Doc H.
:adrian: = Me
:sadshoe: = Person two seats to the right of me
:maya: = Friend that sits in front of me all the time.

:grey: "I'm quite flattered that a lot of you in the class thought I was smaller than a toothpick..."
:maya: "...He's talking about that multiple choice question on the test right?"
:adrian: "...Yeah. ...If he's smaller than a toothpick, then I'm the size of a dime on the fifty yard line in a stadium."
:grey: "I'm actually quite disappointed, though, that some of you think so low of me as to consider me a lesser object than a toothpick."
:sadshoe: "But didn't you just say you were flattered?"
:adrian: -Facepalm.-
:maya: -Facepalm.-
:grey: -Bangs head on the chalkboard a couple of times.- "...Ah. That's better than coffee, sex, and watching copper shoot out of a test tube like a cannonball."
:adrian-crunch: "Thanks for the mental image, Tom."
:grey: "You're welcome."

I'm at a smallish Liberal Arts college. I have a professor who teaches a class called Modern Terrorism. He used to work for the CIA, and he tells very good stories.

...He's also got crazy wispy white hair standing up in every direction. He's in his sixties, and this is the closest I have ever personally seen a real human get to possessing http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AnimeHair.

"So I'm at this Buddhist retreat, and I'm walking with the daughter of the head monk, who used to be my wife's college roommate. And it's a hot day, and the girl wants to show me a place to dive into the lake. And we're climbing up rocks, and I'm looking down and thinking 'Hey, this has to be thirty feet up! This doesn't look like a good idea!', but there's a thirteen-year-old girl leading the way, and do I want to look like a chicken compared to her? So she jumps, and then I jump, and later I say 'That was pretty high!' and she says 'You should see my brothers. They climb these cliffs to jump. I don't do that. I'm not stupid-brave. I'm girl-brave.' and that's when I decided that I'd try and be girl-brave too."

You had to be there, really... I love it when teachers tell good stories.
