I'm asking hear becasue this is a major PW/GS fan site and a sizeable amount of people here have imported and beaten GS4 and more or less understand what happened. Alot of what I heard is that
is the problem and his over impact on the storyAlso about the whole "Famitsu gave it a 36/40 so it has to be awesome", in more recent years I have begun to question some of Famitsu's scores, I do not beleve they are as tough as they were many years ago.

That won't happen till an english version comes out for me
I know that my own opinion is the most important element, but I'm asking overall to the GS/PW community, would this be the low point or black sheep of the series?

My only gripe was no poker mini game, considering how popular poker's gotten in the past few years. I guess capcom didn't want to take away sales of their Gyakuten Saiban Poker on cell phones.

Ditto for 4chan, too. At the end of the day, people are complaining that Phoenix is taking up too much of the spotlight - these people don't have a clue what they are talking about, look at PW1. More specifically, look at all of the amazing character development Phoenix gets in that game. We don't learn anything about Phoenix' past until GS3, he doesn't advance as a character until the second game, I see no reason why it'll be any different here with Odoroki.
I pretty much hate every single forum out there, though.

Anyway, I love Odoroki. Kyouya hasn't done much yet but I love him, too. I even love Takita. And I know a lot of people are mad about Phoenix's change, but I love him, too! I think I laughed out loud playing case 2 more than in the other games. There was one part in the first case that even made me jump a little.
Of course, I hear the last case is insane, so my overall opinion will have to wait. But so far, I've enjoyed it.

) Even if it cemented my strong dislike of Minuki, got me started on my irritation with Ema, and made me so frustrated with But the plot itself? Pure loove. Odoroki is just...god, my love for him cannot be contained. He's sort of a Phoenix-clone, but the game shits all over him so constantly I just want to HUG him. And Kyouya.
I swear, this game. I really wish I could love it. If it was the first one I ever played, I would have, but unfortunately, I did play the first three.

And, again, that's just plain incorrect. In the very first game we at least learned about his motivations, and why he became a lawyer. The second game was almost entirely Phoenix-centric in terms of development. The third game was also Phoenix-and-Fey centric.

No, but it would have been nice to have some background into that. Even if it was a simple "I always wanted to be a lawyer". Plus, please don't make it sound like that was my only issue with the lack of focus on Odoroki's development.

I like the majority of the courtroom themes, but most of the music outside of it is just "ok" and nothing really worth putting on your ipod. Some tunes even sound like they belong in Megaman X (considering the music in the games have been done by the MMX composers). The music has always been one of my favorite aspects of the series since it's so well done in terms of new-school game music. It just isn't that great in GS4.

Yes, and he also doesn't have this obession with the color red. But that's nearly all, really. Personally, I miss a distinctivly new feel about the main character. If that was the only problem it wouldn't matter at all, but it just fits in with the feel that the attempt to start an all-new chapter with the game went totally wrong.

I'm guessing that this is what is going to happen. The crew probably figured : "We don't have to tell them a lot about Odoroki because we have to deal with Phoenix, and Odoroki can have ultramajordevelopments in GS5."
A bit lame, but I'll be playing it because it sounds awesome regardless of Phoenix stealing the thunder.

I think Odoroki is harder working, and more earnest than Phoenix.
Here is my problem with this. This game should have been "Phoenix is a part of Odoroki's story". Instead, it comes across as "Odoroki is a part of Phoenix's story". And that's not fair to Odoroki as a main. The game could have dealt with Phoenix's story while still allowing Odoroki to be the one everything centered around.

I think you're right about that part - Odoroki does seem more eager to please, if nothing else, and a bit more emotional as well. Sure he's not brand spanking new but he's pretty much exactly how I expected him to be, in most ways, so I'm not disappointed. If he was completely different on top of Phoenix being completely different, the entire voice of the series would be changed, and I don't think that would please the fans any more.
