Furthermore, Phoenix fits the bill even less than Edgeworth. He experiences far too much erotic interest in women--much of which he doesn't display--to even give men a second look. Even Franziska, whose personality repels him, he can't help but find physically attractive. This shouts "hetero" to me.
Finally, I seem to remember someone citing this (I could be wrong), but just in case somebody indeed has...the nervous shifting we see on Edgeworth's face in 1-4--in my mind, at least--has nothing to do with homoerotic tension and everything to do with anxiety. After all, he's on trial for murder and his case is being prosecuted by his mentor, no less. In his position, I can say with all certainty that sex would be the last thing on my mind. My weenie would be as limp as one of Yanni Yogi's wet noodles, regardless of whether Phoenix Wright or April May was on the other side of the glass.

I think that might have been in the Pairing Debate thread, where this sort of deeper discussion should really go. I would agree with the above however, I don't think anything other than his own predicament would be at the forefront of his mind at that point *snort*.

- The first rings too much like tolerant-older-brother/bratty-younger-sister to me. There's a certain maturity gap there, and I don't see them evolving beyond that relationship. The second... I believe that Phoenix had, in a way, outgrew his infatuation for Iris. It'll take a hell lot to convince me that lawyer!Phoenixwill still harbour the same love that he had felt for 'Dahlia' before, especially after Dahlia's betrayal and attempt to kill him. His experiences had made him grow up, but I don't see the same change in Iris.

does. I think it's because of von Karma and because of their relative complexes. Plus, Franziska clearly thinks of Edgeworth as her 'little brother', and they probably grew up in the same house stuck together for years under von Karma's tyranny as siblings. I just don't see it happening.

Canon is NOT the be-all end-all. Canon is simply guidelines to go by. There's no canon evidence to support Kristoph/Dahlia, but they're quite alike. Hence people pair them. (That, btw, is part of my logic for Luke x Richard) What games they are and are not in should not restrict them, but their personalities should. Fine example also: Redd White x Richard Wellington. I've actually seen a few people pair them, and they make sense together too. They're quite alike. Same with Luke x Richard. But people like to go DURP NOT THE SAME GAME SRY.
fyi, Larry is canon straight but I have seen people pair him with Gumshoe AND with Phoenix AND with Edgeworth, so....

I don't believe anyone here is going to cart you off to a concentration camp because you like crack pairings, so the persecution complex is getting old. In this thread alone, I've had more people hate on my OTP than people have even mentioned yours, but I'll live because people can dislike P/E for WHATEVER reason they choose, including--but not limited to--not liking pink blue together, or the thought ot them kissing gives them a rash.

Really, the way you come across in these threads is that you're allowed to dislike anything for any reason, but perish the thought someone else does it for anything you like. Liking crack couples doesn't somehow make you any more special or discerning than your average "canon compliant" shipper. We don't need you to lecture us on the joys of crack.

lmfao okay. If someone tried to explain some of the ones I don't get I wouldn't mind. So I figured I would do the same for people who don't get my pairings. OOPS.
I'm not going to argue against the second and third bits because guess what? I'm like that. Not gonna argue there. If you're going to dismiss anyone who happens to say "this doesn't make sense to me" and berate them for preferring something that has actual canon support, then don't expect me to get out my hankerchief and start sobbing when you start talking about how some canon shipper was mean to you once a long time ago in a faraway place. If you can't hold your tongue when someone says "eh, Wellington/Atmey--not my thing", then expect to be called on when you're being ridiculously hypocritical and argumentative.

You know what food I find absolutely appealing? Eggs. I love 'em. Fried, scrambled, you name it. I'll eat 'em. In fact, I have some eggs this morning, but that's beside the point.
Now, some people don't like eggs, some downright hate them. If I offered a plate of eggs, they may go "OMFG, THAT'S GROSS AND DISGUSTING. PANCAKES ARE BETTER" But would I go "OMG, YOU DON'T LIKE EGGS? WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU? PANCAKES ARE DULL AND BORING! EGGS WILL RULE ALL!" No, I'd either ignore the guy, let him hate eggs and maybe even serve him pancakes if I felt like it.
If you going to crack pairings, that's fine and dandy. I've got plenty of crack pairings I enjoy myself. But don't expect the rest of us to appreciate those pairings. If we want to hate them, we will.
