His manager's gender isn't much of a concern to an assassin. Shelley only needed to establish trust.

Obviously Gumshoe doesn't know "perfectly well" or he wouldn't have passed on the lunch to begin with. And even if you say he just forgot, it doesn't change the fact that Maggey is the only one who ever claims that people in detention can't accept items (and she didn't want to accept it anyway). In 1-2 Gumshoe himself gives up Maya's phone so that Phoenix can return to her.

The easiest solution is that either Maggey was just lying/didn't know better, or the fact that Maggey had already been convicted is what prevented her from accepting.

Actually, I kind've said that with the second part of my post... you know, the part I assume you forgot to quote? :butz:

Then again, a LOT of things contradict this, so I guess you have a point...

Things that contradict this:

- Ron DeLite taking the "Letter From Dessie" from Phoenix in 3-2.
- Matt Engarde SOMEHOW managing to get a wine glass into the Detention Center (Which, upon breaking, the shards can be considered a dangerous weapon).
- Maximillian Galactica's cards.

Right. However, if he were to search for info on Engarde, wouldn't a certain rumor come up at least once?

You know, I'm just guessing that the police just called her a fraud, and would have wheter they saw the channeling in person or not. They need someone to explain the "not guilty" after all.

Spoiler:
Godot says he gave Pearl his last cup of coffee with milk and sugar to hide the bitterness of the truth...

So Godot was just walking around with milk and sugar, even when he doesn't drink any in his coffee? How could he carry all this stuff with him?

Since the bride was burned, you know that he couldn't just leave and come back with milk and sugar, since he found her before the bridge was repaired.(Or at least, I assume he did because no one else found her first and the police thought he was the first one over there....)

Two possibilities:

Spoiler: My Response
1. He had Milk and Sugar Packets with him that he would give to others who drank coffee with him, in case that was what they liked in their coffee.

2. He was just being metaphorical... after all, giving a small child like her, coffee, isn't exactly the best thing to do... you know, that whole "Stunned Growth" thing? :gymshoe:

Hmm I think this is the right place to mention this;

Why does Maya have a mobile phone? You can't get a signal in Kurain... and they just use the phone box.

Was she in Kurain when she was talking on her mob to Mia?

Or maybe Maya is on a decent network and Phoenix is on 3 mobile, hence why he can't get a reception haha

Was just bugging me..... LOL

In the first game Maya talks about "getting used to living on her own" so I think you're supposed to assume she was living in the city for at least a while. They made a big deal of it when she finally went back to Kurain after all - it wouldn't have been that dramatic if she had been commuting for every case until then.

Yeah, but assault is only a few years in prison, not life sentence/death row. Plus, Phoenix doesn't really care about people getting punished, only finding THE TRUTH.

Here's another one from Recipe for a Turnabout...

If Gumshoe loves Maggey so much, why did he wait a month to yell at Phoenix for getting her found guilty? Since he's a detective he would know about that case, and when he heard Maggey was involved, he would have acted right away.

That still doesn't explain how she got the signal.

Unless you're saying that she was already in the city when the call was made.

Yes, that's what I'm saying. By the time Mia called in her 1-2 Maya was already living on her own somewhere in the city, so of course she would have a cell phone.

As for Maggey's case, maybe Gumshoe had to wait so long because he was filing an appeal? Is there an amount of time you have to wait before a case can be retried? We don't really know how PW world law works in a case like that since it only comes up once.

Even if it takes a month to fill an appeal, why would Gumshoe wait a month to storm angrily into Phoenix's office?

That can't be it. I remember Gumshoe mentioning once Phoenix somehow easily convinced him that he wasn't there that he was going to then go down to the courthouse to fill out the papers. If he was filling it already, he didn't need to do that.

Or just maybe Gumshoe was pissed off at Phoenix not getting a not guilty. Because Gumshoe didn't know it wasn't Phoenix that defended Maggey then. Or another thing might be that if Gumshoe WAS at the trial, Gumshoe talked to 'Xin Eohp' and Xin Eohp said "Talk to me next year, i'm busy"? But if Gumshoe wasn't at the trial, maybe he just discovered it too late. I don't think Maggey would have contact with Gumshoe in a prison cell. Yes, i do realise Gumshoe has a phone, but i just think Maggey didn't know his phone number.

But, another thing is strange about this, because Gumshoe brought a NEWSPAPER ARTICLE not a Police Document or something. If Gumshoe was looking through the Police Documents and saw Maggey getting convicted of murder, i think he would of brought the Police Document with him. Since he brought a newspaper article, it's probably because he saw it in the article. Why the newspaper article was outdated? Well maybe Gumshoe found the newspaper article on the ground or something. (Gumshoe is too poor to buy Newpaper maybe? Remember he once stated that "I'll be so poor that i won't even be able to buy instant noodles from the discount store!")

Uh... you people are talking about why Gumshoe took so long to yell at Phoenix about the Guilty verdict right?

Another "cough up" is the fact when it's revealed that Phoenix was tricked into using fake evidence (In AJ) he should be able to get his badge back, because he didn't know. Also, when Drew testified that he forged that diary entry, how did Klavier know that Drew forged it? (Since it's forged, Klavier should still be in the dark and would consider it as legit) Also, there was no proof that Drew forged it he just said "hmm yes i forged it".
Sorry if my cough up was already explained, i haven't played AJ for a year now, because it makes me sad. (No, seriously.)

I just found another Cough-Up in Recipe for a Turnabout. (Man, tha case is riddled with them) He's a direct quote from the game:

Gumshoe: "But I heard she and the boss of the Tender Lender are pretty tight." (in reference to Viola)
Maya: Tight?
Gumshoe: That's what it said in a file I read related to Maggey's case.

However, no one knew that Furio Tigre was at Tres Bien that day until the next day at court! Why would Tender Lender be mentioned at all? Even though Glen Elg had a loan from Tender Lender, at that time it was completely irrelevant to the case. Furthermore, even if it were mentioned, why would they go into details about the relationship between Viola and Tigre?

.....maybe he just looked into it himself, then sorta "forgot" where he read about them being "tight"? I could see Gumshoe digging a lot deeper than nessasary to try and get Maggey proven not guilty (he may have found out about Glen loaning from there, that is)

It's not that strange at all that the police would have detailed files about Viola, but the fact that he claims it was in Maggey's casefile does make it rather strange...

Might as well submit this as a contradiction:

Spoiler: 1-5 Spoilers
Name: "Reasons for Darke, in the Dark"
Case: 1-5, obviously.
There is no truly confirmed "Reason" for Darke going to the Police.
Here are three different reasons given in the same case, by three different characters.

:ema: Joe Darke had been taken in for questioning that day.
:lana: We asked him to come in for questioning.
:gumshoe: Finally he turned himself in.

Ema's line implies that he was brought in solely by the police. Lana's sentence says that they ASKED him, meaning that he came in under his own free will, and was not forced to by the Police. Gumshoe's appears to show that the Police did NOT contact Darke, and that instead, Darke simply came in under his own free will.

Regarding Gumshoe's reason, there's a basic explanation for why the events occured as they did: Darke came in, saying that he had information on the numerous deaths that occured, but during the interrogation, he got scared and fled.

Under this pretense, there is NO contradicting "Facts" towards any of these claims. The only thing that contradicts each claim, is the other claims that were made.

... Yeah, I KNOW this was just posted on the "Sympathy for the Darke" topic by me (at least, the Gumshoe part was) but I figured that putting it here would be a good idea.

You seriously think Atmey wouldn't have his address listed!? He owns his own Agency, the "Atmey Detective Agency"! Any business would have its' own listings in any phone book or, considering how long his agency has been running, probably even a website!

Now, Desireé states that she pushed aside the secretary, and barged into the office. She looked around, and would've seen the fairly noticable bag on the table. She would've opened UP the bag, and seen the Urn.

If she knew she was looking for an URN, it's kind've obvious that she would've taken it... And before anyone starts, she could've easily learned about the Urn from any promotional poster for Lordly Tailor's Exhibition!

Description: At the first trial, Desireé suddenly appears at the witness stand with the Ami Fey's urn and says she got this at Atmey's. But how she just got his address, guessed where the urn was - and more important: whom was the said urn? :eh?:

You seriously think Atmey wouldn't have his address listed!? He owns his own Agency, the "Atmey Detective Agency"! Any business would have its' own listings in any phone book or, considering how long his agency has been running, probably even a website!

Okay, but how she just knew where to find the urn made me think.

Put up proof to show how she would've known those things, if you please? :franny:

You want proof? Okay, if you please.

They are married at least for a year before 3-2. If Dessie don't knew, looking obviously at all the thief things - a "manual of how-to-do" included - and she not looked DeMasque's mask, blackmail letters, the four steal plans of Atmey's, the fact his workhours changed, and up to all of these the "I just knew where the urn was" moment. :gregory:

Anyway, sorry Wrestle... I just don't remember exactly the lines, due to broken DS flash card and all. I don't want to start a arguing with a such great member you are. :payne:
This is a sig. Don't you believe me?

No problem, ese! I'm relatively easy going, aside from seeing the multiple visible gramatic errors, but those are minor. :gymshoe:

Now then, I doubt that Ron would've kept EVERYTHING of his at his and Desireé's place... Also, she couldn't have known about him being DeMasque from the multiple items in the room, since she was unaware of the significance of them... She assumed he was a fan, and unfortunately, while that DOES seem like a ridiculous excuse, it's not able to be proven or disproven.

Regarding the plans, I would've thought that Ron would've made sure the letters were hidden or destroyed, so Desireé wouldn't know... the LAST letter was a different story: Atmey put it there himself, since that's the only way he would've known it was there instead of disposed of... And finally, I think Ron would've still kept his schedule as it used to be, so that Desireé wouldn't get suspicious... also, she wouldn't have had a reason to look it up... He left for work, he came home, he'd get paid. There was no reason to suspect a change in his "routine", even though there was no longer one. :phoenix:

Name: Why still fight?
Type of cough-up: Alternate solution
Location: 3-1, Recipe for Turnabout
Spoiler:
Description: After Jean has confessed about the body being hidden, your case is pretty much made. totally solid. so why are you still there!? You've proven Maggey's innocence. You don't need to prove Tigre did it, and if he wanted to get him arrested anyway he should just tell the police everything you know. they'd presumably draw the same conclusion.

I'm pretty sure this is already been asked or it's explained in the game, but...

Name: Dying Shooter
Type of cough-up: It's hard to explain here, just read the description.
Location: Chapter 4 of PW:AA, Yanni, "died", in the boat
Description: Didn't Yanni say that "he blasted a bullet into the water AND DROPPED OFF THE BOAT"? How is it possible that no-one noticed that THE GUILTY PARTY was the one to fall off the boat?

Who would've noticed it? edgey was confused as hell, Lotta didn't see it clearly... so why is this a cough-up?
